I've just taken a pair of these back, because they were too short even though I got my husbands size, they were very snug on the waist too. I would order up.

How does that work practically in terms of body fat deposit? I know people store fat in different areas, but generally if you're fat in one area, say the gut, then you'll also be storing a lot of fat in your thighs for example.
Anyone got a pic of a 42 inch waist man wearing super slim jeans or chinos?
Just can't imagine how'd it work
Edit: FWIW, I vary between 32 inch and 33 inch pants (depending on how fit/slovenly I am at any given year) and I can't get away with skinny pants. Slim cut yes, but they're tight on the thighs. Super slim or skinny - just won't happen.

I fluctuate between 32" in the winter and 28" in the summer when I tend to be very active. Half man half boy? sounds about right for me.

Most skinny jeans have elastane in them, 98% cotton 2% elastane, I'm a 34 waist and wear slim/skinny jeans fine, although I have tried on some which wouldn't even go over my calfs

BMI doesn't work with everyone. There exceptions to it... Basically I don't have time for BMI.

You'd be surprised how many different shapes and sizes we come in
I'm 6ft and have ranged between 75-90KG.
Waist from 30 at my lightest and 34 at my heaviest. The weight predominantly sits around my gut area. Even at my heaviest I can get my size 30 skinny jeans on, I just can't button them :/. Same goes for my tighter tops, they fit fine until they reach the bottom third of my torso :disappointed:
I think perhaps that would change if I spent a long time at my heaviest weight. But predminantly I'm around 82KG and 31/32 waist. It takes months of binging on soft drinks and other empty carbs to get me over 85KG.
I think the general consensus is where the weight goes first is where it comes of last. So for those that spread it evenly it will come off evenly. Whereas I'd max out my gut before the rest of me took on much fat :/

My comments were meant to be tongue in cheek, although I think I'd prefer a bigger waist lol, looking at m&s men's formal trousers, Only 8 styles in a 28" although you can go for age 14-15 in the kids section , 47 styles in a 30", then a far larger choice of 90 styles in 32" and above..
Ps. Bigger waisted folk also work out,

I think it's time we had that chat about vanity sizing mate. A 30 waist pair of trousers will typically fit a man who is about 4 inches more rotund than that and so on up the sizes. It's so we feel good about ourselves and buy more clothes.
As opposed to the women's fashion industry which seems to thrive even more on making people feel bad.

Over the last 6 months I've gone down from 15 1/2 stone to 13 stone, and accordingly, a slightly too big for me 36" to a well fitting 32". I'm 6 foot 2 so that gives me a BMI of about 23.3.
Even with a 32" unless I get skinny fit, jeans tend to be too big on the backside. At my fattest, although a 36" was fine around the waist, they were too baggy on the backside.
You can't spot lose weight, and I'm at the gym, spinning or cycling three times a week so my body shape has changed, particularly on legs. Would never have made it into skinny trousers in the past but they do seem to allow for bigger legs as the waist size goes up, I did have a pair of gap 36" slim fit jeans in the past.
Obviously in a 36" skinny fit you won't look like stick legs like the youngsters of today though  they'll just be more fitted

I'm sure you're right mate but not sure you got the point of my post. I mentioned the sizes to show the change in girth around my waste, so it doesn't really matter if a 30 is really a 34, provided a 34 is roughly a 38. The important bit is there's approx 4 inch difference between the two.

Well it's just daft BMI, no wonder people have eating disorders! I panicked when I saw that, it said I should be 12 Stone, I would be dead at that weight!
