Repost from Linx 8 thread.
The Five Stages of Opportunist Resellers......
Stage 1. Pre Purchase Calculation.
It's only £50 and worth £100, and I can sell the Office Licence separately to make another £25-£30. I'll make £80 clear profit easy.
Stage 2. Expectation.
I have to get it and get it listed on E-Bay as quickly as possible. I know, I'll spend 30 minutes finding out where they have stock and then drive there and collect to be sure. So in total I'll spend maybe 90 minutes getting all my ducks in a row....but I'm sure to make £80 easy.
Stage 3. Hope.
OK....Got it and had a quick play...not sure what all the excitement is about.
Had a few problems extracting the Office Licence key...took a couple of hours in the end, but got it done. Took some photos so my listing looks good, by the time I'd done a decent non generic listing with my own decent photos took half an hour. Listings up and looks good, can't wait till Sunday evening when I'm bound to sell it for £80.
Stage 4. Reality.
"What the frack!!!, There's bl**dy loads of these listed now and prices seem to be dropping fast". My auction eventually closed at £55 and I only got £20 for the Office Licence as well. Oh well I suppose £75 is better then nothing as I'll still make £35. I'll pack it up and take it to the Post Office tomorrow.
Stage 5. Depression.
Forgot about the E-Bay and Paypal fees, in total that came to a tenner across both of the auctions....and another quid for packing it up and packing material. Took me half an hour waiting in the Post Office to get it posted on top of the half hour packing it up. Looking back I probably spent a couple of quid on petrol collecting it as well. So have to knock £13 off my profit of £35...so made £22 altogether. Hang on though, I spent nearly four and a half hours doing all this...to make £22........that's less then minimum wage!!
Frack!!!!

Remember when you update to windows 10 to run disk cleanup and remove the previous version to free up those precious gbs, also if you pop in a sd card, open computer management, go to disk management and format it as a ntfs folder. This way you can install apps to it as well as change document folders to this location, which you can do if you just pop it in and use it as a removable drive.

I just mentioned about the Micro SD support for apps, not running fine for me from the micro SD try running app games from the marketplace download some large ones like Halo spartan strike or assault couldnt get that to load to the menu and into the game would only display the initial videos and then wouldnt get any further.
Is it safe to delete previous version under the storage section in settings, it shows almost 6GB used up but it was pre-loaded with Windows 10 so how can a previous version exist? I've only got 9GB left with only a handful of apps and small number of applications installed.
Since it's only a few apps / games that I want that wont load I might just give up on SD card for those and delete previous version as you mentioned and move them over.

Just one thing more guys, this is a major update and it will take a while to be done (2-3hrs). Once it's finished you can unplug USB, pop sd card in, Go to Settings > System >Storage and now you can select your Micro SD card to intall apps too. Also under Storage Click on top drive This PC (C:) Scroll down and Tap Temporary files then Delete Temporary files and finaly Delete previous version to release more space from C:
You can't just transfer data from recovery usb to another drive as it has special instructions assigned to this drive once recovery has been created. Put a micro sd card in and go to settings>system>Storage and change Save location for apps, media and so on (don't forget to press apply). I've installed a few games from Windows Store and all located on memory card works fine, also got Deamon Lite to read ISO files and install larger games, also running fine straight from micro SD. I have around 6GB free on C:

Finally got Windows 10 updated.
Greatly appreciate your help. I couldn’t manage it without your professional guide.
At the end it didn’t look that difficult. But due to my old age and lack of computer knowledge I felt quite stressful during the processing without knowing what’s happening next……
Now it shows 1.2GB left in C only. I need to free up some space before using the tablet properly.
I understand that I need to keep the Recovery drive USB in the case of resetting the tablet to the factory settings in the future,
1) Can I transfer the entire contents from the Recovery drive USB to another 2TB external HD? So I can reuse this USB stick for my daily task as before.
2) If I delete temporary files and previous version (total 6.9GB) in the C, will I still be able to reset the tablet to the factory settings in the future?
3) Do I need to delete Windows.old folder in the C? If it’s deleted, will it affect the factory settings in the future?
Currently running the updates using WiFi at work
So far it's looking ok……

But after checked the update in the settings, the message appeared
" There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keeping seeing this and want to search the web or contract support for informations, this may help: (0x8024402f)"

Is it could be the WiFi connection sharing through my mobile?

Can't create recovery drive
Start tablet, format 8gb usb stick as NTFS, search "create the recovery drive", ticked "Back up system files to the recovery drive", click "next", then I was panic and hit "cancel". (stupid me!)
Then run "create the recovery drive" again.
It started creation of recovery drive; formats, copies utilities and begins backing up system files before it eventually stops saying
"We can't create a recovery drive" with the added info "A problem occurred while creating the recovery drive".
Windows Explorer shows this drive has the following installed on "D":
1.Boot folder
2.EFI folder
3.Sources Folder
4.bootmgr file
5.bootmgr.efi file
6.reagent.xml file
Total 670mb
On the 3rd attempts just left sitting over night for 7hrs and eventually get the same "error" .
I noticed
1). a message shown "windows isn't actived" on the bottom of "Settings"
2). 8gb usb formatted in "NTFS" was changed to the name of "Recovery" in the format of "FAT32(default)" after copied the above 670mb
Please help.

I would suggest as follow:
Format your USB as NTFS
Then do System reset from Win boot ( when tablet switched off press Vol Down and Power, hold both for 10 sec and release, select recovery) Go thru initial set up, skip everything apart of Wifi settings and try to create recovery drive again. Of course all above will wipe up all your personal data.

I bought 3, first one lost connection when in another room, I relocated the router - problem resolved for this one. Then a few days later I opened the second tablet and have wifi issues, I opened the third tablet same wifi issue, the first tablet is still working perfectly.
What I tried:-
I reset my router (Sky) to factory defaults and changed the settings to what had before (network name/password) same WiFi issue. I reset the router again but this time did not change anything the two tablets were playing YouTube videos non stop for four hours solid then the WiFi disconnects.
All three tablets are upgraded to the new Windows 10, they have the same wireless driver version. I emailed Linx support their reply was only connect to a 2.4ghz router and turn off Bluetooth (it is already off on all tablets) and turn of power saving mode for the wireless adapter (which I can't find where) however the WiFi disconnects even if the tab is in use.
I think I may have to return two - I don't want to as they a bargain. I have three laptops, three other tabs, 6 mobile phones all been working with the current setup for over 2 years. I can't quite work out what is going wrong.
Right now as I have reset the router I only connected two other devices to the WiFi so it can't be too many devices issue either. Same WiFi issue on the 2 tabs ?
Any ideas anyone ?
Thanks

I held the power and the volume down button together for 7-10 seconds, followed the instructions and did a factory reset which worked this time. It took about an hour to get things running again. I followed your instructions, all I did was connect to the wifi, searched for updates and plugged in my USB stick only and it worked! I got the notification telling me I din't have enough internal memory, clicked the USB E drive option and clicked refresh and it continued to download. It's been almost 2 hours now and it's currently on 23%, I will leave it to update over night.

Any idea what's happened to my tablet guys? Blank screen when I turn it on. If there's no other option then I'll just have to return it.
Sorry to restate this guys, but if you are still having problems and can do a reset back to factory settings, I suggest you try the way that I did the update by using the microsoft process to put the update onto an external flash drive/sd card. This saves having to download the update onto the short of space c drive of the linx.
Updating via this route means you can then update the linx completely off line so no messing about with ms updates being downloaded to the linx taking even more space.
I believe the process is quicker and cleaner, I originally posted how I did this around post #206.Hope this helps.

Is the below comment the comment you're referring to? If so it's seems so complicated, I'm terrible with this stuff.
First at all, to avoid any trouble please do as follow
Then you have recovery drive to reset your Linx tablet from USB with whole clean system and drivers included.
Note, before doing any windows update please "Create a recovery drive" on USB drive 16GB and above suggested.
Be on the safe side.
To create a USB recovery drive
Enter recovery drive in the search box, then tap or click Create a recovery drive. Administrator permission required You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
After the recovery drive tool has opened, make sure the Copy the recovery partition from the PC to the recovery drive checkbox is ticked, then tap or click Next.
Note
The checkbox is greyed out when your PC doesn’t have a recovery partition. The recovery drive will include only the recovery tools and a bootable image, but not a recovery image to use for refreshing or resetting your PC.
Insert a USB flash drive into your PC that is at least as large as the size indicated on the screen.
Tap or click the USB drive you would like to use for your recovery drive, then tap or click Next.
Tap or click Create.
The recovery image and necessary recovery tools will be copied to your USB flash drive, which will take a while depending on your PC and the size of the recovery image.
When the process is finished, do one of the following:
If you want to keep the recovery partition on your PC, tap or click Finish.
DO NOT delete the recovery partition!

Yes, the formfit is a folio case.
The rugged one exposes the screen as has been commented on that linx forum. Haven't seen any pictures of the other side tho, I don't see why it would necessarily weigh a ton though? On the Amazon page it says the product weight is 141g and I assume that includes the packaging it comes in...

From linx forum follow this after fresh win 10 install (touch not working and missing drivers)
I have to say I installed this chipset driver first (http://downloads.linxtablet.co.uk/Linx10/gthm18ww.exe). Then, I updated all components one by one using Device Manager. One member on this forum told me he never needed anything other than updating using Device Manager but that was after I got my unit working so I have not checked. Here's what to do:
Reset Windows 10 (I assume you already done that)
Download and install gthm18ww.exe from the link above then reboot
The tablet will not have sound (although it would seem like working but actually it isn't. With the sound goes the cameras (assuming you have installed their drivers) as they will not work without properly configured sound card. In addition, there will be power related problems. Don't Panic!
Head to Device Manager and let Windows update all components. Update every single one of them but the cameras and "Intel Imaging Signal Processor 2400" then reboot and you will have everything functioning but the cameras.
Depending on the camera model you have, download and install the appropriate driver and unzip it.
Use Device Manager to update the cameras and "Intel Imaging Signal Processor 2400" using the drivers in the unzipped folder.
There are some camera drivers here on the forum (http://www.linxtablet.co.uk/page.php?p=windows-10-command-centre---drivers) but they did not work on my model. My cameras are Omni Vision 2680 as I mentioned and linked the working drivers in previous post. If your camera is the same as mine, use these drivers. If not, and if the ones on the forum did not work, search around for the model you have.

No worries, I think best way just return it and tell them it's faulty touchscreen but problem is that most of stores running out of stock so probably you will get refund. BTW to get usb keyboard and mouse working these need to be plugged in when you start booting win from usb.

Yeah thanks, I've got the USB Keyboard and Mouse to work on it now, but unsure how I can get the drivers on there. The version of Windows 10 it's updated to on the tablet is nothing like what I had before, more like a windows laptop. None of the apps are showing. Also taking ages to make links on pages clickable.

DO NOT delete the recovery partition!

ok it might be a bit late to describe how I did the update for many, but if it helps:
1. downloaded 32bit windows 10 from MS using another PC and used the MS tool to create a bootable micro sd card.
2. On the linx 10 undertook the initial set up, but did not connect to the internet, didn't want any updates.
3. uninstalled all the apps I could/didn't want.
4. Ran the disk cleaner, selecting system files to remove all the bits you don't need, which from memory was most of it.
5. Inserted micro sd with windows 10 into the linx 10
6. From file explorer, selected the sd card, and ran windows setup
7. Selected the option to keep the apps & personal data, then left it to do the update which took about 40 mins.
8. Once complete went back and deleted apps it had installed that I didn't want, and ran the disk cleaner again selecting system files and removed all the left over crud.
9. It was only at this point that I connected to the internet and checked for updates, there weren't many, but did include intel drivers, took anoit another 20 ims
10. All went smoothly, no pobs, infact used the linx for this post.

I think the important issue here is to prep everything before connecting to the Internet for the first time. Since Windows 10 looks for constant updates without you knowing, the first time you connect the C drive will be assigned for updates. Adding a usb drive thereafter may cause problems because C has already been designated for downloads and temporary files. .

It was a lot of messing about trying to update without external storage. Tried so many different ways to get around the limited memory. Eventually did a factory reset and lo and behold the tablet would not boot up again. That was the last straw, added to the fact that one of them was for a 5 year old and Windows interface was way too complicated, both of the tablets went back for a refund. Such a shame as the price was a bargain.

Well I have to say, you have either been unlucky or incompetent I'm afraid.
I've set up one of the tablets I bought today for my dear old mum, I've been bringing her into the computer age slowly but surely (media centre, smartphone etc), now it is time for a PC, browsing Amazon or Argos via the Fire TV or the old Nexus 4 just isn't cutting it.
Anyway - and maybe I have an advantage here being in I.T. for a living - I just downloaded the latest ISO of Windows 10 (win 10 was already installed but of course there have been quite a few updates since release) via the media creation tool and got out my old USB DVD drive, plugged it in and away we went, no problems, with the update to the latest version (didn't connect to the internet - this bit is VERY important so you don't fill up the precious internal memory with more updates, they can be installed after the main show and the disk cleanup of the old, original, Win 10 install).
All this can be done with a USB stick as well, and as I said, I am no doubt at an advantage here, as you obviously need another PC to accomplish this. Surely if you don't have a PC then you know someone who does?
And yes, it SHOULDN'T be as difficult to a layperson as that, but then, when were PC's EVER easy? And again, £49 for what is essentially a fully functioning (with a little effort) home computer...
But I'll tell you what, I'm impressed with this tablet, especially for £49 - even £100 as they were not that long ago (but no more than that, considering the lack of memory).
It's quite nippy all round, for browsing, reading the news feed, checking mail etc etc, I'm sure my mum will be delighted with it, Windows 10 tablet mode is quite no nonsense, even a 5 year old could work it (or my 6 year old, who is getting the other tablet with the keyboard dock from Amazon to help with school work).
We already have a Dell Venue Pro 11, by all accounts a "better" tablet/2 in 1 and it doesn't run Windows 10 as good as this little beauty.
What a find, and for £49 it is, in my professional opinion, a steal!
I salute you again OP, good luck to everyone who is after one - you won't regret it, I would certainly recommend updating to the latest version of Win 10 via the media creation tool by downloading and either burning to DVD if you have an external optical drive, or USB if you have a spare stick...
Hi, Don't underestimate the potential of your 5 year old. I will be very **** if you were my father/mother with this your "windows UI is complicated" comment. Windows UI is not and I repeat IS NOT too complicated for your 5 year old. Expose him/her and you will be marvelled at how fast kids can learn. My 4 year old have been using windows since reception last September and he can navigate himself everywhere, visit his favourite webpages including his school moodle site and work through the various task without any assistance from me now. And you know what, I know a few under 5 year olds who can use windows. Morale of the story is from now on don't you even feel that something is too complex for any of your children, try to help them with anything and they will grab the concept.

(talking about post-Windows 10 upgrades, back in August 2015)
I've heard of some users uninstalling their problem driver and reinstalling manually via Device Manager when they're having problems after updating to Windows 10, not sure if it would work with camera issues.

The best thing about the Linx 10 was the fact that it had the standard USB ports which can be really useful - especially for people that use external hardware/dongles such as VCDS. Fair enough, I'll pick you up on one thing though, going down the media creation tool route does not mean a fresh install - there is plenty space to do the in place upgrade as all the info is on the disc, or USB stick (only a few pounds these days for an 8GB one) - the only annoying Microsoft habit here is keeping the "Windows.old" structure and quite frankly it is really lucky there is even enough space to carry this out - all can be deleted thankfully afterwards though.
Again I will say, £49 - all minor problems aside (and I assure you, with a bit of old fashioned reading and cursory research) - this is quite the bargain. I wish I had bought another, just as a spare!!!

You are right, 5 year old's can do a lot these days. He is actually not 5 for another 3 months but he can definitely navigate through windows and play his favourite games quite easily. What I should have emphasised was that rather than being complicated the interface is not as appealing as the Android one that he is used to. He misses all the apps on Android and, unfortunately, he was under the impression that he could play the same games on the Linx tablet.

I'm actually quite 'techy' so either I was very unlucky or it was a sign of a problematic BIOS/Hardware which kind of influenced my decision to return it. Unfortunately, although I do have a laptop, I don't have an external DVD drive. In any case I didn't want to install a clean image and then try and work out all the drivers that are missing/not working and manually installing them.
I know that you can turn on the tablet mode and it transforms the interface somewhat. Nonetheless, it's still quite easy to screw up the operating system/programs because of the way Windows has been designed. Added to that the App Store is very limited compared to Android Play store. And finally, I didn't want to own something with very little primary drive space, adding micro sd card to increase the storage, to then find that some apps/programs would not install on external media. I spoke to Linx support and apparently they raised the issue of low internal memory being a problem with future updates with Sainsburys. Well, atleast that's what the chap said.

With the keyboard dock in place does it actually like a case or does it still need a case as well?
Interloper to mbugsy18
15 Jan 16#125
It closes up like a mini-laptop, similar to an Asus Transformer. Be warned though - the box says "keyboard dock" and that's how it is intended to be used, to be docked when needed. If you leave the keyboard on all the time it will drain the battery as it continues to send a signal and "wake" the device.

2 left in Durham now.
Mine came with Windows 10 installed. Did the updates last night and required 5.7gb free space (there was only 3.2gb left). Inserted a 32gb MicroSD card I had spare, formatted it as NTFS. In the update message window, hit Refresh then tap the line about using an external drive and it allows you to select the card from a drop-down menu. Away it went.
Left it overnight as it was taking an age, but sure enough this morning everything is updated perfectly.
Incidentally, for those wondering - this model is EXACTLY the same as the 1010/1010B. The only difference is the lower storage. This means the 1010 keyboard dock will work perfectly with this (although NOT the origami case elsewhere on HUKD as this if for the earlier Linx 10 model).

osstis to milliemoo7
15 Jan 16#99
Do recovery drive first, then just leave usb stick plugged in, Windows update will need extra memory to keep temporary files during installation, your recovery drive shouldn't be affected. After all updates done just remove usb and pop micro sd card in and change Storage under settings to get all things to be saved and installed to it (up to you)

Frack!!!!

So many 'new unwanted gifts' of these on ebay, but they are not worth £80+ I'd rather get a brand new from-a-shop-with-a-warranty-and-double-the-storage Linx 810 for that price, might only have half the RAM and smaller screen (but higher PPI) but those positives make is far more worth it. They're worth it at £50 but not at much more.

When I got to the store the girl at the electrical counter couldn't find the tablet even though I had checked with webchat and they confirmed 11 in stock. The girl asked me if I could come back tomorrow but I insisted that she call a manager to help. She then said she would look some more and eventually found them hidden/locked away at the back. She said she sent a text to her colleague and managed to locate it. Not sure whether staff were trying to get some for themselves..hmmm...
Whilst all this was going on another chap came to buy a couple too. Was chatting with him and mentioned how the Linx 8 screen looks a lot brighter. Anyone who have used both can confirm what the difference is between the two screens or anything else for that matter?

Remember when you update to windows 10 to run disk cleanup and remove the previous version to free up those precious gbs, also if you pop in a sd card, open computer management, go to disk management and format it as a ntfs folder. This way you can install apps to it as well as change document folders to this location, which you can do if you just pop it in and use it as a removable drive.

Thanks very much.
So far it's looking ok……
But after checked the update in the settings, the message appeared
" There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keeping seeing this and want to search the web or contract support for informations, this may help: (0x8024402f)"
Keep click "Retry", same message.
Is it could be the WiFi connection sharing through my mobile?
I'll try to run the updates using WiFi at work tomorrow.
I'll give a try.
The new tablet was just come out package. No personal data was installed.
(it may be a case of 'System Overload' perhaps?) lol. :-)
Is anyone else having internet connectivity issues with their tablets connecting to wifi?
If so...can you give me advice please?
Thanks.
Thanks
I wonder if there's any more of these left in London anywhere?, hehehe.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019Q43QEC?psc=1
You are a wizard!!, hehehehe, thanx for all that, I was curious on a few things 'Linxy' myself too actually?.
Useful. :-)
I hope once you woke up, your Linx running on the latest update. And see my post #291
But seriously, Try power off then press Vol Down and Power - hold it for 7-10sek, release Power and Vol and you should have quick boot option, Tap on Recovery
Updating via this route means you can then update the linx completely off line so no messing about with ms updates being downloaded to the linx taking even more space.
I believe the process is quicker and cleaner, I originally posted how I did this around post #206.Hope this helps.
Not sure I have any option other than reset to factory and start afresh.
I will try and alter USB drive letter back to d: and try once more
Sorry for all the questions, all your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks very much for your input/intuition it really should not have been that difficult.
I bow to your knowledge / detective skills
Will try taking sdcard out.
Think I might just try factory reset, I can't get store to update app either f7000 error
Grrrhhh! :-(
Before retrying update, check if you can see the stick as a drive letter in Explorer, if you can't then neither can Windows....
If I've understood what you've said, when I go to explorer the usb shows as 'e drive'.
I'm still considering buy the linx 1010 32gb version to avoid these problems in the future. I'll keep this as a back up or give it to a family member.
Thanks.
(In tablet mode swipe in from the left hand side, or just type 'settings' into search/Cortana)
For Windows Update just plug USB stick in and trough all process, at some point you will have message that something wrong happened to update, don't worry go back to update settings tap Retry and procedure will continue and you will be notified low memory space, but on the same screen you have an option to select USB drive then everything will be don straightforward. Any problem priv me
First at all, to avoid any trouble please do as follow
Were there also any left there as well too? (& for how much?), or ..... thanx. :-)
The rugged one exposes the screen as has been commented on that linx forum. Haven't seen any pictures of the other side tho, I don't see why it would necessarily weigh a ton though? On the Amazon page it says the product weight is 141g and I assume that includes the packaging it comes in...
I did list the rugged case in my other post just because it was a cheaper price than the previous poster - I only listed the formfit case as well as that's the one I bought.
I'm after a bumper type one so that the screen is visible. Does anyone have a pic of what the other side of the rugged one looks like? I assume the rugged one weighs a tonne, anyone spotted a lightweight bumper?
I don't want a flip over case or anything, i'm after a simple wrap round bumper where its protected from falls etc.
Anyone manage to source one?
Cheapest I can see it is £15.40 http://www.morecomputers.com/product.aspx?pn=LINX1010%2FRUGCASE&man=Targus&referer=Froogle1&gclid=CJz3lKyFtcoCFVFuGwodV2UHzA
I'm assuming the Linx Light 10 is the same dimensions as the 1010B, but I can't find any size specs for the Light 10.
https://www.ballicom.co.uk/linx1010rugcase-linx-protection-rugged-tablet-case-10.p1178739.html
I took the fitcase at a similar price (£12.43)
https://www.ballicom.co.uk/linx1010fitcase-linx-form-fit-tablet-case-10.p1178737.html
Free delivery as well.
Went to store today got £60 refund.
Added in spare fresh USB 3.0 32GB and had WiFi off until then. No accounts singing in etc.
Went to update process, got message unable ie lack of space. Clicked (touched) fix button and selected my USB.
Updating as I am typing this.
Absolute steal at this price. I will try to go for a free keyboard via Microsoft, might not work as it is not for light and only thru few retailers. But you never know.
Hope it helps
Went today to store for price adjustment, luckuly I have not open it.
£159 refund and new total £99
Well happy with purchase.

http://cd-rw.org/t/linx-and-lamina-7-8-10-tablet-owners-thread-drivers-included/43
I think the admin post at the end of the thread is particuarly relevant.
Think it's just going to have to go back to the shop.
Just format partition where it says around 14GB and continue installation
Of course you can Reset PC from settings as well but in some cases people got some problem with it. So I advice to do above and keep your Recovery USB in safety place.
Not sure if you are asking this to me, but I selected the winows setup from the micro sd card from the existing installed windows 10, no formatting of disk involved as it perfomed an update to the latest version of W10 from the micro sd card. Note, I didn't use any externernal usb, as inserted my card in the micro sd slot.
Any way to go back after you're in a whole load of trouble though? Without having created a back up
I can't get it to point 7. If I boot it from the USB and select custom install it just lists the four partitions and says that windows can't be installed on them when I click through.
Think it's just going to have to go back to the shop.
If you got Recovery drive created from your Linx 10 Light you don't need to format anything. Just plug your USB in, switch tablet off. Then boot from USB (pres Vol up and Power at same time, release and select USB) and follow whole process, once is done you are back to factory settings.
Of course you can Reset PC from settings as well but in some cases people got some problem with it. So I advice to do above and keep your Recovery USB in safety place.

DO NOT delete the recovery partition!
1. downloaded 32bit windows 10 from MS using another PC and used the MS tool to create a bootable micro sd card.
OK so, You wanna to do updates?
They had a couple left. Not on display, held in back storeroom.
Telephone number to check is 01294 407200.
They will reserve it at Customer Services for you.
Got the last one in Prestwick though this morning for my mate, again, computer said 3 in stock, but only 1 to be found.
Also got the keyboard delivered from Amazon early this morning (need to do more Sunday orders, they're always here early doors unlike during the week.). I like it I must admit, it'll be going back though if I find it drains the battery while off.
Also ordered the fitcase for my mum's one, this seemed to be the cheapest - £12.43 , with free postage, and actually in stock...
https://www.ballicom.co.uk/linx1010fitcase-linx-form-fit-tablet-case-10.p1178737.html

Too late now, I guess...
meherenow on Post #129 goes into detail here http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/linx-10-light-49-sainsburys-instore-2374372?p=27117018
I notice the machine currently runs the 32 bit version.
but front camera not working. rear ok. tried driver updates etc but no joy.
any solutions? thx
One comment http://forum.webuser.co.uk/showpost.php?s=b3f2fba577e40278042c841bb626a465&p=1124282&postcount=4 (from October 2015) says their Linx 10 camera driver is
Intel® Imaging Signal Processor 2400
System32\DRIVERS
camera.sys 6.3.9600.16384
isp_firmware.bin
mute.bmp
System32\
IntelCameraPlugin.dll 1.0.0.1
IntelSocYuvCopy.dll 1.0.0.1
libjpegencoder.dll 1.1.0.6
I've heard of some users uninstalling their problem driver and reinstalling manually via Device Manager when they're having problems after updating to Windows 10, not sure if it would work with camera issues.
Drivers are to be found here http://www.linxtablet.co.uk/page.php?p=win10centrev2&sid=8d2742edbdaea21bd868ce64cde587d6
The Windows 10 Command Centre page above (which has a list of drivers), camera drivers direct download link is here http://downloads.linxtablet.co.uk/Linx%20Camera%20Driver.zip
Are these also in superstores only or all sainsburys stores
And don't put words in my mouth to justify your own misconceptions.. I never said updates protects you more than antimalware/virus software they are very different things, both go hand in hand, and both are very important.
But please continue with how downloading update after update protects you more than a antivirus app
Thanks.
No it isn't, that's a misconception just like when you hear people say "I don't need antimalware cause I'm careful and/or keep my computer updated", both are wrong.
Added Kodi to it and that seems to work great, been streaming TV form the PVR which can be quite heavy and it works a treat. Might go an grab another one and use it as a touch screen media player for the bathroom
Only slight bummer was Office mobile and not full Office, but then again it is £50
The new Linx 1010 keyboard is apparently much better - here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Linx-1010-Keyboard-Tablet-QWERTY/dp/B014RKA4UY £24.99
Most exploits are through user mistakes (running exe's) or crappy protection.
Very stupid that win10 gives you no options for updates, unlike 7 and 8 and any previous windows OS
Just install the updates, they are good for you and your computer!
Still, we needed the "full PC" experience, and I am so pleased for this £49 machine so my youngest can have his own machine when homework projects collide!
Again I will say, £49 - all minor problems aside (and I assure you, with a bit of old fashioned reading and cursory research) - this is quite the bargain. I wish I had bought another, just as a spare!!!
Got mine, manual says don't use till fully charged, but does not explain what colour the light should be when fully charged, says use bottom if screen to see if its charged, is that a catch22
Really happy now thanks OP :
They have 3 different linx models (lite, 1010 (aka leather???) and "normal"). Range from £140-£150. No deals there.
2 left on the shelf in Marus Bridge, Wigan at 14.50
Mine came with Windows 10 installed.
BTW, this was from calling Sainsburys Portswood - who very helpfully checked stock levels at neighbouring stores, as they only stock the leather editions of 810 and 1010

Frack!!!!
Whilst all this was going on another chap came to buy a couple too. Was chatting with him and mentioned how the Linx 8 screen looks a lot brighter. Anyone who have used both can confirm what the difference is between the two screens or anything else for that matter?
Cheers
Mine is less than 1 week old too!, hehehe (lets just say Sainsburys better 'find' me my £20 from the great Sainsburys Cloud in the Sky ..... hahahaha) lol. :-)
Has anyone had any issues with updates failing due to low memory (as someone linked to a forum on the 1st page)? It's on charge at the moment so will leave setting it up until tomorrow.
5 left on shelf at Arnison Centre, Durham.
Bloke behind the counter in Salford Regent Park store said he had about 30 of them
Got the last Linx 8 though
"I got one the other day, turned it on big windows update, now storage is full can't install anything on it. Think I should take back for a refund and get a Android"
I'll be taking a few more trips to sainsburys' in the future-sale sections springing up everywhere !
7 Left at 5:38pm.
Will NOT hold if you call store, first come first served.
Max 2 per customer.
In door...straight ahead (left hand side of fruit/veg aisle)....electrical sale items on right.....about 1/3 way down shelf.
GL All
110 quid saved by getting the 16gb version-that'll buy a lot of microSD cards !
bargain this one.
