Looking around this seems a bit too good to be true, BUT reading the spec I've order the 16GB Ipod Touch that does seem to be latest release by Apple for only £119! Not good enough storage for heavy users that want to store masses, but for those who are happy to 'manage' the data this has to be a bargain.

For the price it is a bargain. Spec wise near enough like the iphone 6. Out of stock now good deal while it lasted

I know but morgan1985 seemed to think this is the same as an iPhone 6 and I was pointing out the difference.

Put one into a speaker dock and use it as a music player for Spotify, Deezer, kitchen cooking timer etc..

Yeah, this is a good deal, I was going to wait for a good price on a 32gb, but this is really tempting me.

My only concern is the reportedly poorer battery life compared to the iPod Touch 5th Gen.

I'll use it pretty much as my portable computer. Mail, web, games, music, LINE, Hangouts, Maps, Kindle, Books, reading PDFs with Adobe Reader, Radio, Photos, Alarm Clock, Notes, Netflix, texting and phone calls (over wifi apps), everything. The small screen is a benefit for one handed use. It's so wonderfully light you can hold it up while lying down with little fatigue. The storage space doesn't matter for me when it comes to music, I can just stream music over the internet, YouTube etc. The screen size has never been a limitation for me, phones nowadays are oversized and bulky.

For what purpose are people buying these for?
16GB seems very low for an audio player.
4" screen is very small for video playback.
So are people buying them to play games and use the app store?
Even then the screen is so small it seems a limitation.
I think an XL version would be a good idea.

The directive is just that, a directive to the EU governments. What matters is what has been incorporated in local law. Since 1979 the Sale Of Goods Act has given you up to SIX years to return goods, which makes this directive irrelevant for the UK. At the end of the day, if the shop us not interested, you will have to sue. The directive changed nothing. It is not a warranty, just a retail guarantee, which already existed in most EU states anyway.

We've now had our order confirmation, and as pointed out already Currys have this same deal so this is a JL 'price match' and is the latest (6th Gen) model. Did see the iPad deal too but as others have mentioned that won't fit in a pocket....
V happy as this is for hubby who has no internet at work (terrible mobile reception) so can't stream music. For same reason he never bothers having anything other than a really basic phone so wouldn't use that for a music storage / player. We're not bothered by the lowest GB's as he's had his 1st Gen iPod for many years and is very used to transfer of music files to and from iTunes. Now we have Amazon Prime and he'll download from that. So all in all, for us we're very pleased. Glad some others have been able to bag a bargain.

I have someone at home who works for apple, so can buy a limited amount of their products at a discount, but not at 30% of the retail price. If only!!!!

Excellent price. I bought one, but now I regret not getting the added care+accidental damage 3 year warranty for only £20. It's worth it when you consider the peace of mind of being able to use it outside, never having to be scared of dropping it etc. Can I add it somehow now that I've purchased?
Ah, found my answer.

Great effort! I've had my 2nd gen touch for over 4 years and it's still going strong. Tempted to get one but will have to be more. memory

Il just stick an iPad in my pocket, cheers for that.
Anyway I was a massive fan of iPods when they first launched and went right up to 4th gen until I stopped purchasing them.
I recently bagged a 6th gen and since July I must have used it about 4 times I just can't seem to find the need for it. My nexus 6p streams music and its just been left at home alone.. This is a muatbuy only if you have small data allowance or for a child who has no mobile phone.

You forgot to add that, after 6 months, consumer needs to prove that the fault has existed at day of purchase. This won't be easy in most cases.

The EU directive in question is 1999/44/EC. The important bit is this: 'A two-year guarantee applies for the sale of all consumer goods everywhere in the EU. In some countries, this may be more, and some manufacturers also choose to offer a longer warranty period.'
The EU rule allowing the return of goods up to two years after purchase is at odds with the returns policies adopted by most major shops.
The best advice is to print off the EU rule and take a copy with you. If staff fail to recognise it, ask them to take your details and report your complaint to their bosses. Take a note of the names of any staff you speak to and explain that you will contact them again soon for a response.

Thanks! I think it's about time I ordered a new one. I still have the 1st Gen iPod touch. It still works but the Brightness does not (I can see it if I hold it to the light) so I change songs using the headphones! It's also so old now that I cannot update it or add any songs!
But still, I've had it... just under 7 years so not bad!
