Way to go!. Did you have to pay a transfer fee?.

I'd try and pay it off toward the end of free period so it will be easier to transfer next time.
I'd try and get a 0% monthly purchase interest card and use that for monthly purchases. I'd guess the Platinum has quite a high IR so try not to add to it unless you can clear it every month. After a few months your CR should improve.
Remember you can transfer more than the balance of your old card so giving you an interest fee loan on you old card.

The trick with Credit cards is to be able to pay them off without incurring interest charges - but that takes financial discipline. Not easy

TCB (topcashback) is SH*T . Cashback you will receive after 8 to 10 months if you are lucky.

Thanks for all the advice.
I tried again and it saidi was 90% chance of being accepted for the Barclycard platinum card so i went for it and got accepted.
They also gave me a limit of over 5k.
Think it helped i added £10k onto my salary.

You might as well - if you get turned down you'll be no worse off.
What will you do in that case - you'll have to pay it off or take an IVA.

If I were you, I'd pay the minimum for a few months then try another card with 0% transfer (no fee).

How can they check your income?. If they ask for proof (they won't usually) then obviously you can't give it so drop out the application and you're no worse off than before.

Failing that try Citizen Advice

Thanks.
Did i read somewhere that i shouldn't apply anywhere again straight away after being denied?
Also don't they somehow check your income or ask for proof?
I desperately need to get the £3000 transferred from my Tesco card before the 0% runs out in February.

This is my scenario. I have a card with 3.5k on it. Applied to this offer and they have said that my limit will be around 1.5k. What options do I have? Can I try and get another card at 2k or will Halifax up the limit on request?

Overstate your income.
If you've been declined then your credit score will probably go down.

In regards to payment do u have to go into a branch to make monthly payments or can make quick scan barcode payments like u can with Barclays?
neonjunkieshubby
31 Dec 15 #56
Can't be done from the clarity card to the all in one card but it can be transferred between any other card with any other UK bank.
neonjunkieshubby
31 Dec 15 #54
It's only a 13 mths balance transfer on the clarity card but if you have held it for more than 3 months (and depending on your credit rating) you can have a second card (ie an all in one). you will get a second credit limit on the new card and then when the card arrives you can lower the limit on your clarity card and up it on the new card. The balance transfer offer is valid for the first 90 days of opening the card so you can wait a week for the card to turn up before asking for the balance transfer to be done. A second card can only be done in branch and not online though so if you wait until Monday the offer is changing to 30 mths 0%.
neonjunkieshubby
31 Dec 15 #53
Did you try it online or in branch? It often declines online if you don't have an account with Halifax but if you go into the branch they can usually get the application through.
neonjunkieshubby
31 Dec 15 #52
Go into branch on Monday and they will be able to do 30 months.
neonjunkieshubby
31 Dec 15 #51
Nope. Balance transfer only, not cash transfer. If you have an existing credit card ring the number on the back of the card and ask if they have cash transfer offers available because although hardly any of the banks advertise cash transfers, they do them at central level. Also try places like barclaycard and tesco bank for cash transfers and just a little tip, cash transfers can't be done for debt consolidation (ie paying off an overdraft) so if they ask say it's because you need to do home improvements or get your car through the mot. hope this helps.

31 Dec 15 #50
I would leave my Aqua but not use it anymore. The transfer won't close it. You could also transfer more to Aqua and get a free loan (assuming you can do multiple transfers with the new card). Aqua have screwed you for interest so get your own back
You are a good credit risk.
adwils
31 Dec 15 #49
Yeah, most people only transfer their balance. Transfer more and get an interest free loan on your old card. Just pay minimum monthly on new card (don't make any purchases on new card as you'll have to pay interest on that). After 22 months rinse and repeat.

I've thousands on credit cards at 0% interest, It seems the more you owe, the higher credit limit they'll give you (assuming you pay minimum every month by direct debit).

31 Dec 15 #48
Aqua I'm 39.9% yeah (new sign ups its now 49.9%), it was £1,200 i'm down to around £280 left now I always pay it each month DD and normally £30 above min payment. I've done a transfer and been approved went for £3,000 as my requested limit (got £7,500 at Aqua don't need all that!) for this deal to arrive in the post. do I close my Aqua down myself or does the balance transfer do that on my behalf? Thanks, @adwils.
adwils
31 Dec 15 #47
You are paying 39%?. What's your balance or do you manage to pay it off each month?. Either way do a transfer. You can overstate your earnings - they can't check. It'll just depend on your rating how much credit you'll get.
twinkle
31 Dec 15 #46
It's not a problem just a comment...they give me £15 a month from my accounts for paying in money that I then filter into other bank accounts for 4 and 5% interest....as do lots of HUKD users...received some great advice from this forum..thanks everyone.
thekesslerboy
31 Dec 15 #45
I think it just asks you for the expiry date and 16 digit number from the card/account you want to transfer to. So that might work with a bank account debit card. I don't know. But...you could just do a balance transfer to another credit card you already have which has a zero balance. All that happens is the new card transfers a credit to the old credit card. It doesn't care what the actual balance is on that old card. Then you could just ask that old credit card co to transfer your credit to your current account.
n3m3s1s
31 Dec 15 #44
Think you have the "Balance Transfer and Purchase Offer (4)" not the "0% Balance Transfer Offer (5)" - they seem to have 8 Offers for cards
FlexR
31 Dec 15 #43
So I could transfer from Aqua (39%) to this and not get any interest for 23 months? I dunno how this works, MSM says "You've been pre-approved" and others say 9/10 chance of approval. I only went with Aqua from no credit rating and built it up over time so I can get phone contract in own mine (which I did fine now).
bargainhunter666
31 Dec 15 #42
Nowt to do with how many you have, it's to do with how much credit (debt) you have and your alleged income plus which ever agency they use and how much they want your business. That said, don't apply for another card for many months now as your score will go down and down.

Wow, this could be just what i'm looking for. Heat added.
i have a Tesco credit card and the 0% runs out at end of Jan.
I've never transferred a balance before so know nothing about it.
I've got just under £3000 owing on it.
Am i right in thinking if i apply for this deal and get accepted that i can just transfer the whole balance to the new card and it won't cost me anything?
And i'll have 23 months at 0% to pay it off?
Also, is it straight forward to do a balance transfer?
Any tips greatly appreciated.
Azurren to magough

Pretty sure you won't get a £3000 credit limit when you're first accepted.
Also you have to make the minimum payments each month to keep the 0% interest rate.

That's what you want! Best to have no credit card debt. For most people they transfer at 0% but don't take the chance to clear their debt. That's the whole reason the card providers come up with these offers! Personally I pay with debit card or cash. Avoid debt altogether.

The application asks you what credit limit you want. In my case I asked for £5 and got accepted with a credit limit of £1900. However, when I checked the T&C's the balance transfer fee is 0.8% in the first 90 days. SO not everyone will get the 0% fee

Alternative option(?) Halifax 0% for 38 Months Balance Transfer (2.75% Fee)

Balance Transfer offer - exclusively available online only

Credit available subject to status, to UK residents aged 18 or over. You can transfer balances to us (£100 minimum) from most credit cards and some store cards, excluding other Halifax products. All promotional rates apply from the date we open your account. You must pay at least the minimum payment by the due date each month and stay within your credit limit to keep promotional rates.

0% for up to 38 months from account opening on balance transfers made in the first 90 days.
Minimum £100 balance transfer. At least 51% of customers will get 0% on balance transfers for the first 38 months and a representative rate of 18.9% APR (variable). Others will get 0% on balance transfers for the first 38 months and a rate of 21.9% APR (variable), or 0% on balance transfers for the first 19 months and a rate of either 25.9% APR (variable) or 27.9% APR (variable).
2.75% effective fee applies on each balance transfer made in the first 90 days.
An initial 3% fee applies; we'll then refund 0.25% within 90 days, so the effective fee is 2.75%. The refund applies for balance transfers in the first 90 days from when we open your account, after which a 3% fee applies for each balance transfer.

0% for 6 months from account opening on purchases.

Darn, so if you have the Halifax Clarity Card they'll only offer 13 months at 0%? I guess it's more of an introductory offer at 23 months.

I had a leaflet in the door from HSBC this morning and they're offering me, as an advance customer so unsure if available to everyone, 0% interest for 32 months with 1.4% fee (min £25) and £25 cashback if you use the card within 60 days. Tempted by that if I can only get 13 months with this Halifax card.
