My wife joined just yesterday so this is a day late unfortunately. For all those perfect people out there who have great diet discipline this no doubt is a poor deal but for those who really need the support of a group, a class like this can be lifesaving. Getting fat is easy alone but getting slim is easier with others. Good deal in my humble opinion.

The reason for a big increase in weight despite a seemingly normal meal is that having a meal after a period of dieting causes a lot of weight being retained in the form of water/glyocogen stores/etc. This is the same reason why most people lose a lot in their first week of dieting (half a stone plus is not unusual). There's a difference between weight loss/gain and fat loss/gain. You should not be disheartened by these fluctuations. Measure by body measurements, waist/thighs/chest/etc and don't be overly hung up over daily weight fluctuations. The overnight gain will be also be lost a lot faster when returning to a diet.
I think people being overly concerned by daily weight fluctuations is the single biggest reason for diets to fail. It's all too easy to think that you've dieted for a week or more only for it to be undone by one meal and if you have to live your life without being allowed one "treat" meal every so often then you might as well not bother at all. Stick to disciplined weekly weigh-ins (to ensure your diet/exercise plan is working) and if you do have any bad weeks convince yourself it's a minor bump and that it won't stop you reaching your goals.

Wow that's amazing, well done. I actually brought my Hubby to group with me, he stayed for around 10 weeks but got to his goal of just nearly two stone. He didn't stick to the plan regliously, too many beers at the weekend and the odd takeaway during the week whilst working away but it is easy. He eats so much better than he ever has done and tries new food now! It definitely isnt a diet, its long term plan. And once you hit your target its then free (for everyone moaning at the fiver a week).

I see it like you do, it's forever. But I can also see it like she does, forever is a long time to live by a discipline. You need to let go sometimes and when you do that's when it's hardest to get back on track. It's getting so big that it is a really long term thing. Perhaps getting rid of two, stone might be better as its a lesser commitment. I don't know, I'm just a wee bit overweight myself, and can eat most things with no apparent effect. My wife however got down to her target weight and had a Chinese meal,to,celebrate and next morning had put on 6'pounds!!!!!! Can't actually, get my head around that. I saw what she ate and I ate the same. There wasn't 6 pounds of food,on her plate but that's what the scale said. There must be something about her metabolism or somethingnthatndoesnt break it down. I'm lost and sad for, her.

Well done on your weight loss. My wife lost 6 stone many years ago but she has put quite a bit back on. I am hoping she can do it again with this group and the support and encouragement they give.

Millions also lose weight with it. A man at my local group lost over 15 stone. No surgery, no pills. It's nice to know a plan can and will work without going to extreme measures. People will always critise and say eat less and move more. Yes for most, that's not always the case though, not for everyone.

I live by it, I feel hungry I snack on all my free foods, I think its amazing that ive lost nearly 6 stone without having to go the gym I still get to enjoy myself people moan about the £5 a week but you get alot out of it. your getting support and loads of recipe ideas and how to cook stuff so you can eat more of that without the fear of eating crap. and being able to substitute foods that would normally contain loads of calories eg i love making my own cheesecakes with quark and options

That's maybe the Karl Pilkington approach, and it obviously works for you, but its the same about getting financial advice, or taking cookery lessons, or getting plumbing done, or servicing a car.
None of those things require a huge amount of effort or skills to do, just a bit of knowledge that's easily acquired. Sometimes it isnt just the knowledge.
