If you already have a powerline starter kit containing two plugs much like this kit or many others and therefore one is already plugged into an electrical socket beside your router, after purchasing another kit containing two plugs, can both be used in different locations? i.e. obviously there can't be any need for one plug from each kit having to be connected directly to the router using ethernet?
Other question is currently have an old D-Link (200mbps, I think) starter kit in use. Will these work with those, albeit the speed for all plugs drops to the slowest on the network, so 200mps presumably?
I've read one post commenting that although you can use different brands of these as most use the same standards, different branded ones don't always work well together. Is there any risk that one brand will not work with another particular brand? Would prefer not ordering and finding that out once they arrive!

The TP Link equivalents have 2 ports whereas this just has 1 so that's a big disadvantage for me

Currently have a D-Link starter kit 200mps. One connected to router upstairs and the other end downstairs. Two ports would have been nice but the built-in wifi booster, if it works well, was needed anyway.

Definitely need to be connected via Ethernet other wise you won't get the benefit if Viagra WiFi in other rooms :smile:

I.e Ethernet cable into adapter 1 & that goes via the mains to adapter 2 & spreads out all that enhanced WiFi goodness

The wifi unit is smaller than the other ethernet only one, so no plug passthrough.

I have the Bt wifi 500 plugs, they are fantastic, excellent range, better than my router.
