If you have sensitive hearing- these are terrible. They make this really loud high pitched bleep sound that kind of oscillates. It's strange. My newer (more expensive) one I got does it too, but it's MUCH, MUCH quieter, I can only hear it on my new one if my ear is right next to it.

We thought the noise coming from our charger was because it was a cheaper one. Had to take ours from the bedside due to the noise it made.

I've got 2 official Sony and I've used a cheapo Amazon job and none have made any noise. I've had a cheap USB charger make a buzzing sound before, but never a Qi, so they can definitely be silent.

As said, it depends on your hearing. It's not the same sort of sound as a buzzing charger. It's different, sort of like a beeping with weird clicks rather than a buzz.

Voted cold, I have one of their multiport USB chargers and it gives out a dirty voltage that causes the touchscreen to not work properly whilst on charge, it starts making ghost touches appear and the phone go crazy. I'm not sure if it would cause permanent damage.

I'm pretty sure you're trolling, but before I mark you ignored the description is clear enough: Wireless Charging Pad
for Samsung S6 / S6 Edge, Nexus 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 (2013), Nokia Lumia 920, LG Optimus Vu2, HTC Droid DNA and All Qi-Enabled Devices
So if you don't have one of those devices you can look at the next deal, and if you do and can't figure out what wireless charging for that device is, then you probably need to see your gp.

I have a £2 ebay jobbie which works, but makes the noise you're all talking about. It's pretty quiet though so doesn't bother me. My main gripe is how slow it is... we're talking approx. 6 hours for a full charge of my Galaxy S6 Edge. Is this one any quicker?

I would probably spend £2 extra and get the Anker wireless charger.
I have two of these and they work fine no high pitched noise that I can hear and I have sensitive hearing to the point where I have to unplug a battery charger that's in the next room as I cant sleep with the noise it makes this is on my bedside table and can't hear a thing.

problem with these and many others is they don't have a transformer included and they are only add good as the 2 amp charger you connect them to. if you want a good value good qi charger go for the Nokia dt900. you can get for £10 to £15(Inc the transformer) and the quality and performance are second to none in qi chargers.

so if i attached this to the charger that came with my s6, it'd perform better?

I'm not sure i understand this product. It has a usb wire to the pad that must be plugged in to a socket/PC etc? Not exactly wireless then is it? Does it just save you the time of plugging a wire in to your phone and instead you place your phone in onto the "wired pad" when you want to charge? Sound pointless to me
SamuraiHQ to ScottyMelotty

Most people that buy one of these have it on their bedside table so when they get in from work, they just place it on top of the charger and it automatically charges. There are some advantages to having one of these, but there are also some disadvantages.
Pros
====
Easy to use / setup.
No more hunting around for your charger if you move it around a lot.
Will protect your micro USB port from constant plugging in and out. This is a common problem with micro USB ports in that they often get damaged from constant use.
Aesthetically pleasing. These often go quite well with existing electrical equipment, like your TV stand or desk.
Cons
====
You're paying for the privilage of not having to connect your charger. You must work out if it's worth it.
Most of these are quite slow at charging, often 1.2 amps only. If you can get one that offers 2.0+ amps, then it's no big deal. Most chargers offer 1.2 amps anyway, but I'm so used to the blackberry charger that charges my phone in 30 mins I wouldn't want anything less.

The ones that just spontanously generate electricity without needing to draw it from a power source are slightly more expensive.
Wouldn't want to disappoint.

I can't really see the use for one of these? In fact, the phone will be less mobile then when plugged in to a mains socket, as it has to be kept on that plate?

Thanks for taking the time to write the informative response SamuraiHQ. I was half expecting the usual sarcastic put me down type response that is the norm for this site. Makes a nice change.
I remain in the view the device is pointless to me though, i have the one central charging point in the kitchen.
PS The DiGiYes one is 600mA, whereas the AliExpress one is 1000mA - so will charge the phone faster.

Heat added, got my wife one of these during Black Friday week for £6.99...good little stocking filler she uses at work to rest her phone on. Works a treat, obviously slow charging but serves its purpose of keeping her phone topped up during the day.

Just bought an official Samsung one from Amazon for an older relative, she suffers with arthritis, so plugging the micro USB into her S6 is difficult, so placing on a charging pad is allot easier.
I have the Samsung QI pad myself, my old S4 micro USB connector got damaged by plugging the lead in every day to charge it, so I think these are a good buy to protect the USB connector, but I would prefer to buy the official Samsung for my S6, I certainly would not risk it with a cheap Chinese import, as it is just pot luck on safety, especially as phones are left charging for hours, often overnight.
Of course you can argue their products might be made in China, but my official Samsung one is made in Vietnam, which I am not sure is definitely better
Why are these products are 'thing' tho? Only my opinion and what i do, but when i am charging my phone i would like to still use it etc, however with these wireless ones, as soon as you pick it up it will stop.. It's kinda like cable+phone vs cable+charging device+phone it just seems more of an inconvenience. At first i thought you could charge like 2 devices in close proximity to the charger but nope.

When I had one at work it was great, then I switched from a nexus 4 to a Oneplus One so lost wireless charging (next phone I'm gonna get it back) so here's my take. When I got in I could just put my phone down and so long as I did it on the pad, it would charge. When I had to get up from my desk to go get coffee or check something on the datacentre floor I could just pick up my phone and go. When I left my oneplus plugged in while using it the cable ended up wrapped around everything else on my desk (I suspect magic was involved) so it was actually inconvenient.

Wireless chargers have changed the way I use my smart phones at home and at office:
1. Without wireless chargers:
I tune my phone's power settings, carefully switch off functions or data connections that might be useful but may draw a little much battery, I set my phone's CPU settings sometimes...
If I need to charge my phone, I connect it to the charger via the usb; if somebody calls during it's been charged, I detach it from the usb cable, and walk out of the office to receive the call so that I am not disturbing my colleagues. When I finish the call, I come back into the office, aim and plug the cable back. Again and again...
2. With wireless chargers:
I set almost every power setting to maximum on my phone and enjoy the maximum performance.
When I arrive at the office, I just leave the phone on the charger all the time, and keep the battery at 100% almost all the time.
You don't know what you need until you've tried it

Just in case anyone without a wireless charging enabled phone is feeling left out, the you may be able to fit one of these type of things to your phone:

I wasn't commenting on this one in particular, someone mentioned getting one off Ebay for £1.73 from China if you did not mind waiting for the shipping, I was just saying buying an unbranded charger from China could be risky considering how much time this will be spent plugged into the mains/your nice new £400+ phone, that's nothing against China, unbranded from anywhere you have to check the safety of the product, at least if its official Samsung it has been through safety certification testing whether made in China/US/UK or Vietnam!!

Ahh, gotya. Yea I wouldn't trust the unbranded ones without any track records either. It's just a bit silly to risk an expensive phone just to save a couple of bucks.
