How to avoid PayPal conversion fee

When it comes to foreign transactions, PayPal defaults to use itself for converting rates in UK Sterling after adding a margin to their conversion rate.

Not only does it hide the "Not To Convert" option well, it also gives a false illusion that one may change the option when reaching PayPal's payment landing page. Even their customer feedback form has been made so difficult to submit any problem with screenshots. Their reply is equally pathetic that one has to start over again as they do not appear to even read the screenshots, as if the problem were just user error!

To avoid their conversion rate (eg, if you have Halifax Clarity card that does not add their own conversion margin), you must set it up first by going to :

https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_profile-merchant-pull-funding&buyer_hub

It lists all credit cards on record. Click the "Conversion Options" for the credit card in question.
Select "Bill me in the currency listed on the seller's invoice"
click Submit
Logout

Now you can shop online without paying extra to PayPal. In the PayPal payment landing page, "Pay With" now shows $XX.YY USD, instead of a £ amount.

I think my wife was just talking about the Doogee the other night.

I'm sure I heard her mention something about the Doogee style.

Minor upgrade? Twice the storage, twice the RAM and 4G added. And this is actually cheaper than the standard X5. Crikey, there's no pleasing some folk.:stuck_out_tongue:

I have had this phone for a while now. And here's my take on it:

PROS
Superfast with the right type of launcher(Nova)
Excellent specs for the money
Very cheap replacement parts
Excellent video playback quality(only 720p, but looks much better).
Loud speakers.
Excellent GPS signal
Tried 4 different networks, all work perfectly fine with good signal.
Bright torch
Latest software updates.
Dual sim works brilliantly well

CONS
Camera is awful, not worth sharing pics from this phone.
Touch isn't as precise as some of the more recognised brands (may just be my handset)
Poor battery quality/life (replacement batteries are very cheap if main one fails)
Very little to no phone support from manufacturer
Speaker quality is not the greatest and some settings give poor sound(again could be my handset only)
Standard keyboard not for fast typists.
Small selection of specialised phone accessories(covers, protectors, etc.)
Very generic looking.
Telling your friends you have a doogee will always get sniggers from some quarters until they see the video quality.
No warranty

Overall I'm happy with my phone. It's got everything I want and I don't use social media so pictures are not important for me. I have one sim for calls and the Christmas package sim from EE for data. Works a treat.

I'd recommend it for anyone who prefers substance over style.

Not had that problem in this phone but you could try calibrating the battery, it will take a few days to know if it has worked right though. link

When charging to 100% during the refresh, some sources say to let it charge for an additional 30 minutes to an hour after it hits 100% each time. Some also say to do something like above but with the first charge with it switched on, then turn off, remove battery for 30 minutes so it cools down, then put battery back in, charge off for an hour, switch on and leave charging for an hour, turn off and remove charger and then turn on.

Have had a few problems lately with the battery on mine. Several times the battery has gone from about 30% to dead in a minute, with nothing really running.
I'm guessing it's more likely to be a problem with the device reading the battery status and reporting a higher charge than its actually got (and then dying because it's flat when the phone thinks it's actually more than a quarter charged) rather than the battery suddenly discharging, but either way it's bloody frustrating. Anyone else had the same problem, or have any suggestions?
I could maybe try a different battery app, but I'd imagine that would do nothing as they presumably all grab the battery info from the same source. :\

Actually the wifi works fine, it was the poor signal from wireless router.

Yeah, Google Maps had no issues whatsoever, it just seemed to be the Pokémon app, despite using the Google Maps API that had the error. It seems fixed now whatever the cause was anyway, but if anyone else does get an issue with Pokémon, I would make sure to have Play Games installed just in case (worth installing anyway if you tend to play games on your phone I think).

I don't do pokemon, but if memory serves the X5 Pro doesn't have the gyroscope required to play the game in AR mode.

Have had no issues with GPS on my X5 Pro (on the couple of occasions I've used google maps).

25 Jul 16 #848
Well, I caught my first Pokémon (Pikachu) with another handset, and installed 'Play Games' on the Doogee for another game and now it appears to be working. One of those actions fixed it, so either 'Play Games' is required, though the issue of GPS lock doesn't seem to be something that could be related to that, or it had a glitch requiring me to get the account set up and first Pokémon caught before it would get the lock. For anyone else curious, even without a lock, it would show an area with the starting Pokémon able to be caught, but without a lock it didn't seem to let me move about, which is required to get Pikachu as your first Pokémon.

And mine also doesn't work in AR mode as it says it cannot detect the phones orientation. I can turn AR mode on and the camera comes on but the Pokémon do not appear at all, switching AR mode off makes it playable.

Can someone help me with a problem I am having.

I updated the firmware after I first got a notification and with the new update my browser would crash occasionally.

I then saw a new update R14 2016.01.15 which I installed hoping it would fix the browser issue but it didn't. Now I have another issue in that the WiFi takes 25 seconds to connect when I wake up the phone (I have set it to never keep WiFi on during sleep to save battery). It was never like this under the original firmware and used to connect almost instantly coming out sleep mode.

Is there anywl way to go back to the base firmware it came with? Is there any way to reverse the upgrade process ?

Thanks

First issue with my Doogee, any suggestions?

When doing Google searches, it's fine for approx 3 or 4 searches and then after that the screen is just white with no listings showing. The listings must be there, because if you tap the screen something shows. They just aren't visible after a few searches. If I reboot, then fine until I do another 3 or 4 searches and then white screen again!
Any advise?

Odd. I don't use Bluetooth so I don't think I've ever enabled it on on my phone to date, and it's not on now.
Best guess would be an app you've installed has permission to enable Bluetooth.

Potentially go through each app (settings/apps/all) one by one to check permissions? There are also a few apps that will scan all apps and summarise the info for you, so you can see quickly which ones have bt permission.

(I'm no expert - forgive me if that answer's rubbish/nonsense. Just trying to help until someone more knowledgeable happens by!)

My X5 Pro seems to switch on with Bluetooth now.
After switching it off, in the past, the Bluetooth comes on by itself.
I tried an app called Radon recently
which tests Googles Nearby features
but since uninstalling it, Bluetooth sometimes comes to life without me knowing it.

I have started it in Safe mode and it starts up with BT on by default.
This hasn't happened before.
Perhaps something switched on after users get comfortable.
Any suggestions?

Went to get the details of the seller that I purchased the HomTom from for you earlier and saw that it had been re-listed (HT7 Pro) if you're still interested!!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262371492815?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=561162757295&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I think that's a lot of phone for £36 and the camera is going to be way better than my Doogee X5 Pro which cost the same! For what its worth I still think for the money (c£37), the Doogee X5 Pro was a good buy.

I believe the HomTom is made by Doogee which is what led me to think it may get an upgrade to Marshmallow if its been confirmed for the Doogee X6 Pro

Spotted this post on the Doogee (www.doogeemobile.com/doogee-homtom-ht6.html) website also...

Rumoured to get Marshmellow - http://www.xiaomitoday.com/homtom-ht7-pro-4g-review/

I'm somewhat confident that it will although not a game changer for me. The HomTom was only released end of January I believe, so later than the X6 Pro.

Here's another review that I found interesting:

I would be reluctant spending much more as I consider I'm not getting any warranty with these phones. My X5 Pro has been working fine, I had to contact Doogee about some drivers to connect to PC and I did get a response from them though the drivers themselves didn't work. Root Checker showed phone isn't rooted, not enough knowledge or confidence to attempt flash but it isn't an issue for me at the moment. Used Avast to virus / malware check and all fine. My thoughts are wouldn't feel comfortable parting with much more than this sort of money I.e. What I can afford to lose without being seriously affected, I'd be very pi**ed off though

How's it going with HomTom HT7 Pro?

a. Can it plays YouTube videos without audio cutouts while running Malwarebytes antivirus scan at same time?
b. Does it kill running app if you swipe it off in Recents? You can kill Antivirus, Lock screen apps that way which is not a good feature.
These two serious niggles affect my X5pro. So, if HomTom does not have same issue, I am interested.

However, any HomTom misfeatures?

For me a gearbest order is pretty much no warranty. I think I read somewhere possibly here that someone was offered ten dollars when their phone didn't turn up which is pretty ridiculous and the want goods returned to China which is very expensive yet they have an EU office. To be honest if you want a fairly safe guarantee you are better off not using ebay, aliexpress or other direct from China sellers.

I originally ordered this phone but was refunded by Gearbest even though I wanted the phone (and had bought a case). Gearbest are a bit terrible but I'm not too bothered as another phone I purchased from them with a small fault but is working was fully refunded by my c/card company. So don't feel I've lost out.

Anyway yesterday with the ebay 20% off promotion I bought a Doogee X6 pro for just under £39 from a uk seller. It's pretty much the same phone as the X5 pro except its a 5.5" not 5" screen (same resolution though) and has a larger 3000mAh battery. I think there may be an extra LED built in too. This phone is getting an update to marshmallow 6 so it seems possible the X5 pro may get such an update too because apart from the LED there is no firmware differences between the two phones. Apologies if this has already been mentioned in the thread as a possibility.

It's a lithium battery, and because it's probaby not been charged in months it sounds like the batterys gotten so flat it won't accept a mains charge any more.

What you#ll probably find you'll need to do is an extended trickle charge, which basically means taking the usb cable and connect the phone to a laptop usb port for about 5-10 hours and not letting the laptop go to sleep. It may not even work first time, so you might want to try once for 5 hours, and then if nothing changes: reconnect the cable hold the power button for about 30 seconds and wait another 5 hours. This will more than likely do it, if no luck after 3 attempts I'm afraid you'll likely need to buy another battery.

Sounds positive

I imagine up until that point you thought you'd never see that phone, as I thought a couple of weeks ago...hopefully when it finally arrives you'll be happy with what I think is a bargain.

I've been an iPhone user for the past 7 years and I'm pleasantly surprised with what you can get for a fraction of the price (though I still do love the iPhone). The X5 Pro camera is cr*p as mentioned widely, however I got this phone to tinker about with and get to understand the tech as my daughters all have Android tablets and phones. I've read that it may get Android 6 Marshmellow update which would be a bonus.

I'm looking into rooting this phone at some point to get full control over it but need to understand what's involved more before attempting that. At the moment it's working perfectly well and I don't see any particular need. I've run malware and virus checkers and its all fine. I've installed Nova and customised it a fair bit, overall for £40 it has made me question the sort of money I've laid out on phones in the past!

Anyway, glad you had what hopefully will be a good outcome.

What a coincidence, I start a paypal dispute for the phone cover, which Gearbest then asked me to close but I refused until I get a full refund.
And I threaten to start another dispute case for the phone order and all of a sudden after 3 weeks since it was apparently shipped the tracking number is now recognised on the singapore post website with the status saying that it has been posted to overseas today!!
Bit too suspicious for my liking.

I held off from pestering them for fear of my order being canceled. It took forever to reach shipping status but once it did I have to say it arrived fairly quickly i.e. 12 days. From the experience, and I've bought a few things from GearBest I wouldn't buy anything that would be a real financial loss if it didn't arrive, what I have bought has all been under £50, not that I wouldn't be p**sed if it didn't get delivered mind you. I've seen people buying more expensive phones etc but I don't think I'd take the gamble but I guess there are other avenues that you could take i.e. claim back from credit card, paypal etc. And, not mentioning the lack of support if something goes wrong, if buying from China I'm resigned to the fact that would probably be zero and my loss!

I think you've waited patiently enough and its time to start pushing their customer service a bit. When I did contact them I was polite and courteous, their replies were the same although English was so so but hey, they are a Chinese company and their English is better than my Chinese! I think this was a genuine co*ck up somewhere either with the price or the stock availability, to be fair to them my phone did arrive earlier than they said it would which was the 29th Feb. They must have sold thousands of these and its quite possible it its journey from China yours may have got lost if you have received a shipping notice.

Just an FYI, I found the tracking useless in most part. It had an undefined status for ages then all of a sudden it said shipped on the GearBest website but the tracking website couldn't find it!

I would give it until early next week and if it hasn't arrived start chasing them up and depending on how you paid look into making a claim back from payment provider.

Hopefully it will turn up though.

Yes got the email for the phone being shipped but no picture in it.
Just an email saying it had been shipped quoting order number and the apparent tracking reference number which isn't working.

The email for the phone covers had a blurry picture of some parcel and no tracking reference but this hasn't arrived.

Have you had an email from them titled: "Your Order W16xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx has been shipped out"?

If so, look at top left hand side (under "dispatch confirmation") and you should see a photo of your actual parcel complete with YOUR info on the address label. If you've got this, Gearbest have almost certainly sent your package.

Although their customer service and refunds are cr.ap, Gearbest is generally as reliable as any Chinese company.

Anyone else still waiting for their Phone???
I've been more than patient with Gearbest, and I didn't pester them with emails about the delay.
But I'm seriously thinking about starting a paypal dispute with them now.

Because Phone cover was apparently shipped on 19th January but still hasn't arrived.
And apparently the phone was shipped on 17th February via. sinapore registered post but the tracking number they gave me for that isn't working. The tracking on their website just says:

"12016-02-17 Information Received (This is not an acknowledgment of the physical receipt of the stated Registered Article) undefined"

And when I check the tracking on sinapore post website they have no record of it on their system!!

The whole thing has gone beyond a joke now and I'm beginning to feel like I'm the only one who hasn't received the phone & case I ordered. I'm starting to suspect that Gearbest have conned me!

Cheers bud. Switched to Nova (which I think I had on my last phone anyway) and it's now got the normal icon, so I guess it was just a skin thing.

Have had the phone for about three days now.
The only other two concerns I've had with the phone are the ridged edge (I'll get used to it); and the slightly unresponsive screen. Having read through recent comments, though, I've just discovered that my phone had a screen protector on before I put my tempered glass protector on. Have now rectified that and it seems better from the two minutes I've since spent on it.

For clarity - the handset had an easy-peel protector on it, with doogee logo on, but underneath that there was a clear plastic screen protector.

I'm a complete newbie to Android devices and still finding my way around this phone but I don't remember seeing that Google Play store icon? Just a couple of things though, I have done two manual updates on the phone as the default wasn't set to automatic OTA updates. I'm also using Nova Launcher so possibly I may have somehow changed the stock icons.

I had a look on Google for that icon image and couldn't see it however also had a quick look on YouTube and saw someone using a Doogee X5 Pro and it did have that icon so I wouldn't worry its probably just a certain icon set used!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cz7zcjuNqs - its in Greek but just wanted to find the icon that all...I don't speak Greek!!

Again, can't remember what the icons looked like when I got the phone but after the updates (and with Nova - don't know if I set something in that or whether you either can) I have the regular Google icons for Play Store etc

5 Mar 16 #769
Not sure if this helps you, but I had exactly the same issue with a DooGee X100 I purchased from GearBest.

However, when I purchased one of those "bulletproof" glass (yeah, right!) screen protectors and tried to fit it, I was amazed to discover my phone was supplied with TWO screen protectors.

So, when it came straight out of the box, there was a plastic film protecting the device PLUS there was already a screen protector on the actual unit - presumably factory applied as it was virtually IMPOSSIBLE to see it was on the phone (no bubbles or blemishes)

What fooled me was that there was ANOTHER un-applied screen protector in the box. If I hadn't purchased the glass one, the first thing I would have done is shove this un-applied screen protector on the phone - thus guaranteeing it would be as responsive as a slug.

Not sure if this is the same on your phone, but it's worth checking.

So I've used this as my main phone for a week now...so here's my niggles so far:

* Alarm doesn't sound in silent mode (!)
* Amazon Music app can't save files to SD
* Screen is not very responsive with the included protector in place
* Setting call volume priority mode has that old bug where you can't close the screen once you've input your settings

Not a terrible list by any means. I have a glass screen protector on the way which should hopefully solve the touch issue. Need to look at the Amazon Music and alarm issues this weekend tho.
sabresonic to SClub
4 Mar 16 1 #763
Thanks for posting that update, the Amazon Music issue probably saved me wasting some time trying to work that out so thanks for the heads up. Please post back if you get a solution! (I'll also take a look but would imagine if there is a solution you'll find it before me!!) This is my first Android phone so I'm very slowly working my way through things (and also trying to keep one step ahead of my kids who have Android devices/phones).

I have not encountered any major issues yet, films play smoothly though I also found the screen a little unresponsive with that factory protector in place, that improved once I fitted the screen protector that came with the (bit naff) case from GearBest.

I put Nova launcher on it (only because I picked it up for 10p a while ago and it seemed a very popular app with people who sounded like they knew more about Android phones than me!). I didn't really know what it did at the time but I knew I was going to get an Android phone at some point so thought it might come in useful for me and maybe the kids tablets. Now that i am messing around with it I've found it pretty useful and have tailored the screen, app drawer etc a fair bit.

Somewhere on this thread someone posted something about the phone being loaded with some malware and also talked about whether it was 'rooted'...I really didn't know anything about that or what it meant so did a little reading up. I downloaded an app called Root Checker and it reported 'root access is not properly installed on this device'. I'd like to delete a couple of the apps do you know if thats possible without having root access?

Again, I'm not entirely sure if that is anything to worry about, I've found no malware on the phone and it all seems to be running fine with the dozen or so apps I've loaded. Software is KitKat 5.1 and seems to be up to date though not 5.1.1 - reading up the main difference seems to be a memory leak fix in 5.1.1.

I'd be interested to know whether it will get an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, some forums seem to suggest Doogee will release an update but I guess it may be too soon still for them?

I did come across a forum with instructions on installing a custom rom for the Doogee X5 Pro but I haven't really found a reason for trying that yet and also for fear of bricking it.

For £37.57 I think its a bargain, though I've nothing to compare it to - I do have an iPhone but its ridiculous for anyone to compare it to that or any flagship Android, makes you think about the premium prices I/people have paid for phones in the past when you look at the tech you can get from China for little money in comparison these days!

This things does everything I need it to (so far) for a fraction of the price.

Hi, I was going to post this exact question having just used Root Checker and found that 'root access is not properly installed on this device'. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to Android phones and rooting. I don't know whether this is an issue, my apps all seem to run OK so I guess it's down to personal preference and how much control you want/need.

I've been reading up on a few forums and found the following link to instructions on rooting the Doogee X5 Pro

I have heard that FreedomPop sim card doesn't work without the corresponding app, and when you install the app, it takes over the native dialer. and therefore casues problems in using the dual-sim aspect of such phones. Anyone experience this?
zaheer2003 to Onlydongles

i've used the freedompop sim in my windows phone, the data element works, so in the doogee that bit should work without the FP app. for calls & texts, you will need FP app.

Depends what you want to use the FreedomPop sim for. If you are only using it for data, you do not need to install the app, this is how I have it in my dual sim handset. If you want to be able to use it for calls and texts then you need their app and it does by default take over, however I believe someone on the FreedomPop forums found a workaround, link.

Again, not suggesting Gearbest do put malware or spyware on, or if they did so that it would be knowingly or intentional. However, the only phone I have bought from them was a Lenovo K3 Note (awesome phone by the way) from their 'EU Warehouse'. It was delivered with a non-stock rom on it, it is obvious because on this particular model the stock rom has only Chinese and English languages, mine had at least a couple of dozen languages and they remained after a factory reset. This means that it was modified in some way, whether by Gearbests supplier, themselves or their EU warehouse. I have no idea if there was any form of malware or spyware on it, I knew I wanted to flash TWRP and a new rom anyway so tested it out and when I was happy I did so and have been happy ever since.
zaheer2003
26 Feb 16 #745
It's possible that a rogue employee would do something like that but I doubt gear best itself would do that. It would be business suicide.

Microsoft do put backdoors in their software, so do many other but we don't even bother thinking or doing anything about it, but US/UK does a lot of fear mongering about alleged Chinese spying and hacking, which then enters the public subconcious and get us to fear china, whereas we should be more concerned about UK/USA, as Edward Snowdon and Julian assange point out.

26 Feb 16 1 #739
The concern people have isn't with governments as they are unlikely to steal from your bank account or copy your credit card details (well less likely than private companies anyway). The concern people have is with the retailer putting spyware/malware on prior to despatch as this has been known to happen with Chinese handset being shipped and sold outside China. The easiest way to be sure you are safe (well, safer) is to download the latest official or trusted custom rom and when the phone arrives, test it out a little without any of your accounts, once you are happy it works fine, flash it with the downloaded rom.

Malware? Seriously?

Do you check your Microsoft Windows phone even though MS is well known to let NSA/GCHQ spyware/backdoor in to windows.

Google how Cisco/Linksys routers had spyware in them.

Apple allows NSA access to icloud, so with your iPhone, NSA/GCHQ probably has all your information, and you're worried about China?? Get a grip dude.

Why are people so concerned about Chinese, when USA/UK spyware is much more likely to affect them and when they live in the UK.

Germany secret services just released some spyware that can show them anything on your phone, but everyone is scared of big bad China.

Mine was also changed from ems to singpost 10-25 days (although I insisted that it was still insured). Has anyone who is still waiting for their phone and Order Status = Processing had any recent contact with GearBest on when they will likely be dispatched?

I was told on the 31st Jan that it would be 15-30 days for re-stocking (after their New Year holidays). The website states 'Ships after Feb 29th' from HK warehouse so I guess that sounds right, but as some people seem to have been receiving their phones recently I was wondering if their delivery was unexpected or had they been chasing them up? I don't want to pester them too much and end up getting my order canceled which appears to have happened to some!

I'm happy to wait still for a phone at a bargain price but was just curious.

Same here. Order still processing and I haven't been pestering them.
I paid with Paypal (180 days apparently to claim back if needs be) so I'm quite happy to sit back and wait a few more weeks until after the Chinese new year at least, to see what happens.
The phone case they apparently posted out a few weeks back still hasn't turned up yet though.
Fingers crossed we get our phones?

Three DooGee

Having purchased three DooGee X5 Pro mobile phones (two from BangGood and one from GearBest), none of them came with headphones. I'm not sure who has received headphones with their orders, but I'm pretty sure that BangGood and GearBest do not mention that they come with headphones.

The only difference between my BangGood and the GearBest orders are that the latest delivery from GearBest had a three pin adaptor to use the two pin charger that came with the phone. The BangGood order did not include one of those adaptors.

I managed on boot to get into a Chinese engineering menu with what I thought was screen snapshot key combination and didn't know how to get out of it.

I accidentally chose first option and lots of Chinese and speaker made a testing noise and then later it stopped and waited for USB input. Getting back to same menu, I chose last option and got out.
Now my YouTube app can't play movies correctly but keeps cutting out on audio and video. But watching movies on YouTube on Chrome is fine.

Any suggestions?

Anyone have comments on usability, Android wackiness compared to UK mobiles?
1. Capacitative buttons are the other way round compared to my Motorola E 2015.
2. ES File Explorer Pro gets ghost duplicate SDCard notifications. Switched that setting off from within app.
3. Killing apps eg Easy App Switcher, GSam Battery Pro really kills the app and their notification entries disappears or their Quick Icon disappears.
4. Accessibility Services keeps forgetting that I turned it on for Greenify and Easy App Switcher. Scratching head here.
5. Swiping notifications away is opposite direction for me.

But it took my 64GB microSD and reformatted it by itself. Seems to work so far.

I've had it for a couple of month now and am still fairly impressed. Watch out for the AppLock preinstalled app, which may be malicious and can't be removed unless phone is rooted. I routinely clear its data and cache form Settings menu, no idea if that helps. Battery takes an age to charge, but a smart charger with high capacity helps (like this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01APBRENY?)

If you really don't want any data to be used or as little as possible, you can set a data limit and the phone shouldn't go past that limit. I'm not sure what the minimum warning and cut off levels can be set to, but 1Mb and 2Mb may be the two limits.

Or you can keep an eye on things to make sure that the phone isn't using up your data allowance or you're paying for data usage.

That should then take you to 17track.net where you paste your tracking code into the white box and then select 'Track' (a number 1 will appear to show in the box with the magnifying glass). The report you get will indicate the courier.

I have just had my money refunded for the mobile to paypal, I also had a case delivered and asked for my money back for a case that is no good to me without the mobile, But no mention of a refund for the case,
I will NOT be dealing with them again or any of there alias.

Funny & increasingly bizarre. When I claimed for a refund, they now insist hat I never ordered the case and screen protector from them. I have even provided them with the order number for this item, yet they plead ignorance about this order. Wonder what Paypal would make of this !

The fact that they happily declare a lower value on the packages to avoid customs charges should have already told you everything you need to know about this company (and most like it). I ordered because I can afford to be £40 out of pocket for a month on the gamble of getting a good second phone out of it, but I treated it as a gamble from the start.

Incidentally mine has now left HK airport, so it looks like my gamble paid off.

Responded to the message with a complaint about already buying a case elsewhere so asked for a refund via paypal and to close my account and now their last message and my final message has been deleted from the history and the order still says processing. Also it highlights something has changed in my wallet but there is nothing in there. So my history looks like it is still waiting for stock and will be sent out.

I think I'll maybe wait a day to see if anything else happens and then request a refund via paypal. Don't like the fact they have deleted part of the comment history.

Indeed. You order from a Chinese website with a slightly dodgy reputation expecting good service and I'm the stupid one... And also I'm supposedly a "troll" (incredibly childish...) despite you throwing all the insults and me merely saying you were expecting too much from them.

If it's not anger, hopefully you get over whatever emotion caused you to write a series of angry remarks in a babbling, poorly formatted block of text and either realise that a) it's not stupid to have realistic service expectations when you consider another order from a similar Chinese establishment or b) never order from a Chinese website again.
Johnnywelsh

Not angry at all, seems you go out of your way to post stupid replies to peoples posts. Been on the Internet far too long to be bothered with trolls. Can't be bothered to keep replying to your crap, sorted out my issues with Gearbest so can continue convo on your own. <3 ignore button.

I got the original email and chose to wait for delivery till after holiday in China, then the update email yesterday offering only Option 1: Refund the unavailable item to your GB Wallet (store credit) and Option 2: Exchange for product(s) of equivalent value. They appear to have stock of both colours, but only offered to ship a white one if I paid the difference, which I declined. I then asked for a full refund, which they appear to have processed almost immediately. I would have been prepared to hold on till mid Feb, but that option was no longer on offer to me. Anyway, rather frustrated by the whole exercise with GearBest, I have taken a completely different tack and ordered the dual-SIM Moto X from Amazon.fr. At least I am confident of what I will get (and of course I am paying approx £200 more, though I expect to get some of that back in resale value in the end.)
callum9999
31 Jan 16 2 #555
Well that's how realistic expectations work! Gearbest and the numerous other Chinese internet sellers aren't "just another company on the internet". They make mistakes and they cause delays - nothing they've done here has surprised me and as such I'm much less angry than you are!
Johnnywelsh
31 Jan 16 #554
Ridiculous expectations? What does them being a Chinese company have to do with anything?

Other companies on the Internet make the same mistake with sales but send out cancellations, not try to sell their customers 3 different stories over the course of 3 weeks. If you made an order and are giving them another chance all the best to you with your realistic expectations lol.

Its been 3 weeks since I ordered, but I expect a month or so wait on anything I order from Asia TBH. Mine says shipped but no actual shipping data, no package received according to the tracking from what I can see just that they have received notification of the shipment, no idea if I'll really get it.

You know what though? I don't trust any deal from that part of the world anyway. Thats why I paid with a method that would make refunds easy, to save messing about with the seller. If I don't get the phone its no big deal, it was a luxury not a necessity. If I NEEDED a phone I'd have got one in the UK, there have been a few recently cheaper than this. This was a bargain for the spec, and I'd rather receive it, but its not going to cause any major problems if I don't. If you want a prompt service from a retailer that treats you well then you pay more, if you want bargain basement prices from someone that has tiny margins and operates on the other side of the world you take a chance.

I had actually the same status I emailed them and told wait for few days in order to find out tracking information available. It did appear after a week delivery date and I received my phone within one week from the shipped date. Only thing I am disappointed with was the phone boxes were not sealed. I do not know if this normal. However if the phone is new, it should come in a sealed box but it was not the case for me. I ordered two phones and they look brilliant. I hope this helps.

Requesting refund by paypal, already changed their story 3 times. Can't believe anyone else is waiting around to see what happens in 3 weeks time when they say their going to ship!

It's going to end very badly for some people. There's no smoke without fire.

Taking the loss on the cases and know to never order from this company again what a joke. Some items have come through fine but can't deal with this lottery of am I going to have alot of hassle after each order.

Ebay has these at £70, might just pay the extra since the phone does actually look pretty good.

Update: Just talked to guy from PayPal excellent service, offered to refund the cases immediately after I explained that I would have refused order for delivery if I wasn't under assumption the phones would be delivered. He said since it's such a small amount he'll just refund the amount immediately rather than waiting 10 days (it was separate purchase in PayPal).

For the phone he said give it 10 days, if seller doesn't respond auto refund. If they do upload the ticket information and they'll likely refund it anyway but need to give the seller a chance to respond.

We would like to extend our apologies for this inconvenience.

Actually, it will be restocked after Chinese Spring Festival, you can check our previous ticket which is correct information.

Can you wait 15-30 days more or just get a refund?

I've just received the same message from them after i too threatened that they either send me a white one or full refund for phone and case back to paypal or i open a dispute case.
What an absolute joke of a company.
I think i'll just push them for a full refund because waiting for another 30 days would we not be running out of time to file a dispute case through paypal if they do another u-turn and say again that they can't supply the phone, which as far as ii remember i think we have only 45 days after paying for the item to open a case with paypal.
Just wondering if this is another one of their games to keep our money without providing the phone!!

Hi, sorry that it didn't go quick and simple. While reading the website
http://www.kimovil.com
they have suggestions on handling these Chinese retailers.
I saw one suggestion which was to video unboxing of received item with a handwritten card of Date, identifying info eg order ID etc
as a precaution just in case.

All I can suggest, don't allow yourselves to get wound up over it;
its just not worth it. There is a
language, cultural, ethics barrier.

Gotta love these Chinese retailer deals! You never know what's going to happen. I ordered one on the day it was posted, nearly 3 weeks ago. Got the not in stock email, and just ignored it. Then read on here yesterday that some had been sent out via yodel, so got my hopes up of getting it soon. Then read on here today that they are cancelling orders, with refunds to the GB "wallet". So my hopes plummeted. Now tonight I have a message saying that it has been dispatched HKDHL. Which may take weeks from previous experience - and have the worry about possible duties or fees from DHL, which I understand is a possibility with DHL. So I may actually get it. These retailers are a real lottery, and expecting any customer "service" is pointless. I certainly wouldn't spend money on them which I couldn't afford to lose (though I'd always expect to get it back through paypal) - It's a bit like going to the bookies, except that the "race" lasts for ages.

The inevitable happened. Received the case this morning by post (from EU warehouse I think). Later on, received a message via the ticket which I had raised about this let down, and claiming refund on the case too. They now allege I never ordered the damn case and screen protector (which is with me as evidence).

How blatantly they lie ! Cynical company, just got everybody excited with a silly price, got their emails and data to spam them, and holding onto their monies in the GB wallet compulsorily. A refined form of scam, I would say. And selling cases in the bargain, which is no use to all those not getting their phone.

Added stress is the bother of getting a refund from Paypal and credit card companies !

cb-uk to dantoe12
30 Jan 16 1 #514
Chinese sellers don't usually give a flying fig about being accused of theft - mainly because they get complaints like yours all the time (have you noticed how they communicate in near perfect English when answering pre-sales questions, yet it immediately deteriorates to low-grade "Chinglish" when they are answering complaints?)

However, if you threaten to put a curse on them, their family or their business - they usually manage to immediately fix the problem (and, in most cases, usually leave you in a far better position than you were expecting - for example, by sending you a $100 phone as a replacement for a $50 one)

This is one of the major benefits of dealing with people who are still inherently superstitious (but, please don't abuse this technique - remember the law of Karma....)

Some people have reported that their phone came via Yodel and they had theirs in a matter of days, as opposed to weeks that is often the case when buying from the likes of GearBest or BangGood.

26 Jan 16 #454
I bought two of these for my parents...yeah you guessed it along with two cases. The cases have been shipped, 1 phone has been refunded to my GB wallet without asking me and the other is still "processing" apparently.

The best part is look at the response I got when I asked what was going on:

Thank you very much for your reply.

I didn't know doogee made trench coats - there must be some way to get our money back for all these stupid cases we are going to end up with.
barginbbbb
26 Jan 16 #453
they appear to cancel your order if you complain a lot - its kind of saves them the hassle of having to keep replying - kind of makes sense - if you do nothing and wait then you have a chance but probably like others say they will most likely just cancel you later and in the meantime they have access to your money
Onlydongles
26 Jan 16 #452
Well, since I have NOT cancelled the order, I have not yet asked for a refund yet. They have put the amount of the phone in the GB wallet. ( Kind of a credit note ). I have asked them about the case which has been shipped, but they do not touch on that aspect at all. Getting very fishy now.
Onlydongles
26 Jan 16 #450
Happened to me. they have shipped the case & screen protector and cancelled the order and put the money in GB wallet, which I never wanted or desired. I even raised tickets that I did not cancel nor wanted the money in wallet. I only wanted the order to be fulfilled (although a bit late for delivery), yet they now insist an colleague did the cancellation and there is nothing they can do about it.

They also mention I can reorder (at a higher price - of course).

****.
nige182 to Onlydongles
26 Jan 16 #451
Have you tried asking them to refund both orders back to your card? I know it isn't what you want, but at least if they do that you wouldn't have credit sitting there or have paid for a case you can't use. I am quite curious how they will deal with cases like yours since you obviously have no use for the case if they chose to cancel the phone order.
nige182
26 Jan 16 #448
Did anyone not reply at all? Since reading the comments various people who opted to tell them they are happy to wait have had theirs cancelled, what about those who chose not to reply at all and just wait?

Also has anyone had theirs cancelled unexpectedly that also ordered the case and screen protector? If so did the cancel it all or just the phone and ship the other parts?
DJ888 to nige182
26 Jan 16 #449
They shipped the phone case I ordered which I thought was pretty sly, especially if they turn around over the next week or two and cancel my phone order or come back and tell me that they can't get more phone stock which is always possible. Then what use is a phone cover to me without a phone!
sabresonic
26 Jan 16 #447
Mmm, mine is still showing as processing....I hope they don't cancel it! I also got the delayed letter but told them I'm happy to wait.
DJ888
26 Jan 16 #446
Mines is still processing aswell but I get the feeling that they are not going to honour the deal.
And instead of cancelling all orders in one go they are just going to cancel the orders one at a time over a period of time and then use the excuse that it was done by accident but if you wish to reorder (at full price) we will send you one when it comes back in stock ie. once all other orders for the cheap price have been cancelled.
I could be wrong but going by the comments on here they have already cancelled a few orders.
JonathanCassar

According to Kimovil the X6 Pro sports a MTK 6735P hipset and the Antutu score is 19200? By no means the fastest mobile out there but for less than £70 with a 5,5" HD screen and (reportedly!) a 300mAh battery it's a lot of phone!
bonzobanana to bellboys
25 Jan 16 #443
The 6735P runs the two gpu cores at 400mhz rather than 500mhz so drops from 17 gflops performance to 13.6 gflops. Still comfortably over the standard x5 score of 9 gflops but not as good. Likely the X5 pro also uses this chipset I would of thought although its still a possibility of of being a 6735M as that was what was stated for the X5 pro on one of the responses I think.

Similar to android running with intel cpu's the benefits of 64bit are only available when the apk contains arm 64bit code or uses something like java and the phone's firmware contains a 64bit optimised java engine. The main benefit over intel cpu's is it doesn't have to emulate 32bit arm it has that functionality at a hardware level too. So the antutu score doesn't represent all apps that may have superior speed on a 64bit arm device. 19,200 antutu is pretty weak though and easily beaten I think by the standard x5. I think mine was 22,000 approx. but then the x5 runs its cores at 1.3ghz where as the x5 pro is only 1ghz and while running 32bit code no real benefit.

Funny thing happened. When I chased for shipment from EU warehouse, they just cancelled my order and applied the payment made, to be put in GB wallet, which I never asked for. Dodgy or what? What are my options? Help.

However for X6 Pro,
Gearbest details specs mentioning Mediatek 6735 not 6580.
Also, noticed:
Dual band wifi, 3000mah battery.
Price 65.42pounds(HKwarehouse).
bonzobanana to davening
23 Jan 16 #437
Yeah the Doogee site looks questionable. In the comments section at the bottom they confirm the cpu runs at 1ghz not 1.3ghz which sort of indicates its not the stated mediatek chip. Also I don't think 6580 is normally a 4g supporting chip in itself it would normally need additional components to do that which would add costs and be an inefficient design. Better to use a chipset with native support.

Also note the battery comment, stated 2400mah battery but only tested at 2000mah or 1900mah capacity so that 3000mah battery is probably a true 2400mah battery or similar.

If it is a 6580 then it is a downgrade over the x5 pro and if its not it sounds to be pretty damn similar to the x5 pro. It won't be the 6735 I'm sure it will be the reduced performance 6735m like the x5 pro which is still a great performance chip but the 6735 is a fair bit faster as it runs its cpu cores at 1.3ghz instead of 1ghz. If they actually put a 6735 in that would be a worthy upgrade.
bonzobanana
22 Jan 16 1 #435
Wierd the x6 pro appears to be the same chipset as the standard x5 according to the doogee site;

http://www.doogeemobile.com/doogee-x6-pro.html

That chipset is normally 1gb memory and 8gb storage. It is the 6582 that offers the same performance with 2gb memory and 16gb storage.

Either way the gpu in the 6580/6582 is about 9 gflops performance but the x5 pro has the later mali gpu which delivers 17 gflops almost twice the power.

I have the 6582 processor in a tablet which runs at 1.5ghz instead of the standard 1.3ghz and that is the only reason it is any faster unless I am running something that benefits from the 2gb memory.

The x5 pro seems better to me.

Thanks for the info on Kimovil - I'd not come across that site before.

I checked the prices for the X6 Pro and AliExpress has it for £66.38 and GearBest for £65.42. However, I never believe those prices as they do not take into consideration the conversion rate that PayPal uses and I don't have a credit/debit card that offers fee/commission free conversions.

EDIT

I'm sure AliExpress wanted a delivery charge as well.

The ulefone is much more powerful than the Doogee and costs less but I accept Doogee phones are really good (I have a standard X5 currently which is brilliant) and it has the larger higher res screen and android 5.1. Ulefone is also a well regarded chinese manufacturer though and there will be many games and apps that run on that ulefone model that simply will not run at a realistic speed on either the X5 or X5 pro because of the weaker chipset in the doogee models. However there may be apps that benefit from the pro models 2GB of memory and have specific 64bit optimisations that gives the X5 pro an advantage.

To me both are/were fantastic bargains.

An alternative here;

http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_141992.html

The inferior bit, smaller screen, older OS, not 4g, lower resolution and smaller capacity battery however on the positive side it has a 8 core cpu at 1.4ghz! and a quad core mali-450 at 600mhz delivering over twice as much gpu performance as the X5 pro and almost 4x the gpu performance of the standard x5 (9 gflops vs 35.8 gflops). Very powerful mobile for games and emulators etc. Also the camera is better at 8 megapixels. Also a more pocket friendly size. Still has dual sims and a micro SD slot for upto 64GB cards. Ridiculously cheap for a 8 core cpu.

The chipset in this phone is the MTK6735m not MTK6735. There are 3 chipsets in the series and the 'M' is the mid level performance version. The gpu is dual core Mali T720 running at 500mhz. About 17 gflops performance. Respectable mid level performance I guess. The standard X5 is a Mali 400 MP2 at about 9 gflops so almost doubling of performance. This compares to about 21 gflops for the latest moto g.

I have just managed to get back $270 from them after they could not supply the colour phone that I wanted. Paypal rejected my claim as they wanted me to send the item back, which I clearly could not (Gearbest had supplied a tracking number for the pbits and pieces that I ordered at the same time. Seems that I should have sent the package back. Anyway, I spoke to Paypal and you can do a claimback through the credit card which is available for up to 6 months (see the Martin Lewis website on details). I threatened Gearbest with this, and as they would lose the whole amount, money refunded today!

In my multiple experiences, Gearbest "EU warehouse" equates to order being sent from a UK source and received within a few days i.e. packaging has no indication of any source other than UK, no import/admin fees and prompt delivery. I suspect you are confusing this with DealExreme where DX "EU Direct" orders still originate from China, as stated in DX FAQ:
A: There is no (DX) EU Warehouse, we send EU Direct goods from world factory to EU (27 countries), and have cooperation with Post NL to make faster delivery. All (DX) orders are shipped from China, not Europe.

How about rooting the phone and adding (the name escapes me right now) privacy/permissions app which would allow you to overide the permissions on each application. Also remove any preinstalled apps and only install those which you would use/have an interest in. Would this not work here or is the case that the phone is not that well supported by these types of apps?

Stage fright is a problem that could potentially effect something like 600 million android phones but as yet no cases have been reported. Google say it has protected all android phones against this issue using app updates etc. Most phones you scan will come up with problems using the stage fright scan but it's nothing to worry about. I'm aware of the permissions that app locks require but the fact it has a permission to make calls and send sms messages makes it strange. Also why build an app lock into the firmware?

I've had numerous doogee phones over the years, there specs are awesome but they always come with some form of malware built into the firmware. You end up having to root the phone to delete it. Routing 64 bit chipsets is becoming harder and so most people couldn't do it. The doogee x5 and x5 pro have an app lock that can basically steal all of your info. It doesn't show up on an antivirus scan as it's an app but cannot be deleted as it part of the firmware.

)

specially negative reviews, such as this one:

Terrible practice, EU Warehouse it untrue, Faulty items is your problem, not theirs.

If you buy from Gearbest, here are three facts that you should know.

1. If you receive the wrong item, or worse, Dead On Arrival, you will only get a Gearbest voucher for 50% of the item value. Paypal loophole allows them to ask you to send it to China or accept their voucher.
The voucher item may be faulty also.

2. Their support is non existent when you have any problem. Very hard to get a reply from them, if you ever do.

3. Their EU Warehouse isn't real, item will take a long time to arrive, and they are avoiding paying EU tax. (When a company is avoiding paying tax that you have already paid for them, then you really should avoid.)

I bought an item from them and it was faulty on arrival. Sent it back, but their address was non existent and the item lost on China. Lost my money and also item. Paypal loophole allow them to do this, as from Paypal point of view, since they did not receive the item, they are not liable to refund the money.

For app development almost any Android phone will do, but for ROM development you're better off with something that officially supports AOSP or CyanogenMod. So you'd be looking for something like a Sony Xperia device, a Moto G, an older Nexus device or an older Samsung phone to toy around with. I can tell you that Sony post their sources to GitHub and they have a developer page on their website that's helpful.

Prices of the phones can vary depending on their age and condition. As you're looking for a phone to do dev work on though then you could get a cheap second hand one from eBay or Gumtree.

Check on XDA to see how well a phone is supported by the community. If you see a lot of custom 5.1.1 and 6.x ROM's then it's probably a decent buy.

It's a little disheartening as a developer to see that so many people would knowingly buy a phone that has critical vulnerabilities. And one guy even confirmed that this phone has an app pre-installed that can steal your info and that you can't easily remove it.

Only based on our previous single/WL purchases John, so do not worry! The expatiated ones hit the
birmingham or milton warehouse hubs prior to shipping to UK addresses, you will get yours
3-4 working days earlier, that is all.. plus "sometimes" they get scoped from the barcode scans
in customs.. not very often as the item is $1.54-75[ish[ from the total gift value anyway..

They are looking for $100 imports that are clearly worth $1000 plus and are dilibertly avoiding
paying UK import tax on the value and the sale ;-)

Use "Standard Delivery" [GB Express] option + insurance [$2.10] if you are in UK ordering it, phone will be
sent as a gift, but unlike the "Expedited" option, you can still claim if it gets damaged or lost or they send an electric car instead..

As an Android developer I can see a few things wrong with this phone.

The most obvious fault with this phone is that it's got hardware buttons that are both outdated and the wrong way around. Google ditched the menu key in 2012 and now hardly any modern apps will make use of it. So that button on the bottom left is utterly useless 99% of the time and you'll end up having to hold down the home button to bring up the recent task list instead.

The phone might be also vulnerable to at least version 2.0 of the Stagefright exploit. You'll never receive an update to fix the vulnerabilities either.

The phone is running a modified version of Android 5.1 (don't mistake it for 5.1.1) and the cameras are very poor. Videos are blurry and the colours look washed out.

Personally I wouldn't spend £40 on this phone.

Got one of these last year & am very happy with it.
Sceen is not gorilla glass (mine got scratched whilst waiting for the screen protector referenced above (couldnt find screen protector or battery on ebay!)
Dropped mine a couple of times (not onto concrete luckily) and its still working fine.
No Led notification - & annoyingly when you put it on charge there is nothing to tell you its charging nor when it is complete (spoiled by having a samsung!)

A really big thank you to vox123 for the paypal tip - have been being ripped off by them for a long time & never knew you could change (have an old Zero card which has no exchange rate charge).
When I bought my x5p I selected billing in GBP on gearbest and got pretty much the market rate - came through on paypal as Gbp as well
wenttoabetterplace
11 Jan 16 #181
What currency should I choose with this? GBP? (I will be paying via Halifax Clarity).

Also, I don't want to use Google's version of Android (long time Windows Phone user). Can CyanogenOS be flashed on to this?

Final question - is it compatible with all the usual LTE bands?

Many thanks

I paid quite a lot for an Xperia S not long after they came out and it's certainly the worst mobile I've ever owned. It would get red hot, the screen would get yellow streaks across it from the overheating and dust/lint kept gradually building up under the glass. Vowed never to buy Sony again.

On the other hand, my favourite phone ever is the budget ZTE/Orange San Fran from around 5-6 years ago. Cost me £99 and it took an absolute hammering... dropped god knows how many times only to survive... almost succumbed to me smashing a pint of beer down on it assuming it was a beer mat - but even then I managed to fixed it with a cheap screen replacement from eBay! It also had an amazing active modding community... one thing I really miss with my current Honor 7 which has virtually none :disappointed:

After buying two of these phones for other people via BangGood, I have just placed an order for another one for me from GearBest. For £40 you really can't go wrong with the X5 Pro on the value for money front.

Yes, the camera is poor, but I don't have much use for that feature. The phone has all the current UK 3G and 4G frequency bands, including the 800Mhz band that was referred to in this thread.

Thanks for the feedback. Without the protector the touch is not poor by any stretch of the imagination. It's actually on par with some of the pricier brands we're always reminded of on Chinese deals. It could be the cheap protector as you implied.

I think I might have messed my battery up by removing it every so often to change the sims. I've ordered a new one for 3 quid. Still waiting for it as it's from China.

One other thing I've reached speeds of 40mbps+ using EE. Tested this using ookla's speed test.
Cavity
11 Jan 16 26 #94

I'd agree with Cavity on most of those points. I find the battery OK on mine though, comparable to a Vodafone Smart prime & M8 One (not sure which one).
I was surprised with how good it was at the thing people use their phones the least for today, phone calls, really clear and loud, brilliant on speaker as well.

I am a little befuddled over this style thing though, how much extra "style" does a iphone6 have over this? From what I can see, round corners.... and that's it, stick them in a case where you can't see the apple logo and they look the same.

I think they are clearing out the stocks of these.

Doogee has already released the successor to the X5 the X6/X6 Pro which is basically the same phone in a nicer looking shell.

Also if the X6 is too rich for your blood they also make the X3 which costs just over £30.

Doogee also make the Homtom HT3 which is similar (1G/8G) but with a bigger 3,000mAh battery still for under £40.

Good review Cavity thanks, couple of things I'd like to pick up on, with moderate use the battery on mine will easily last two days (as opposed to just one day on my Note 3) Baring in mind though, I do have the brightness turned down to ~ 25% I find that's all I need tbh (screen very bright)

I too initially found the touch sensitivity somewhat jerky / non responsive but have put that down to the factory fitted screen protector, once removed and replaced with the glass protector linked above its as smooth as silk.

As an owner of a lower spec phone from this manufacturer I question your ability to comment on their quality. As I said earlier the Doogee phone I purchased before xmas is incredible for the money, I have no reason to believe this wont be as well.

Probably that well known great quality English made item, the rubber keyed Spectrum. Actually that probably explains the spelling problem.

Sorry, more questions. How good is the gps, fast and accurate like other snapdragon chips? I had a MTK before and it took long time to lock (5 min +) and not even accurate. Is this version of MTK okay and reliable? Thanks

A mate of mine just dropped his iphone, £120 for a new screen, quality or not, they still break when they hit the floor. :stuck_out_tongue:
There is no doubt there are better quality phones available, but for myself, the quality/cost value, is freaking unbelievable.

11 Jan 16 1 #30
Not usually; they ship either NL post (which it registers having come from Holland) or with "UK/British Express" which is Yodel and supposedly comes from Hayes, Mdx (at least that's what has always happened with my stuff when they send- just failed to get $269 back from them through Paypal- time for a chargeback on the credit card as suggested by Paypal). They also use Yodel to ship from their UK warehouse.

With regards to the £37.57 asking price that's what Gearbest are quoting but it all depends on the conversion rate of your chosen method. Paypal has a horrible conversion rate but a credit card like Halifax Clarity has a great conversion rate.
