What does xx (yy) mean in terms of sizing?
One is trouser the other jacket?

No, the first number is the size of the jacket in inches the second number in brackets is the size of the jacket in cm.
Normal convention is that the trousers are 6 inches smaller than the size of the jacket. Therefore a 42 (52) suit has a 42 inch chest and comes with a pair of trousers that have a 36 inch waist.

I got my partner a lovely burnt orange jumper, tobacco jeans and suede boots for christmas and they're all lovely quality.
