Just booked my Dad on a week to Malta and flights from Birmingham for a week (15-22 January 2016) return was under £46! Bargain

Got some bad news! He has missed his flight. It left last year. No wonder they are so cheap!

8 months ago I would have avoided them. But after 13 years of no Ryanair flights I decided to try them.
My Dublin to Bristol flight with them was excellent. Very good service and helpful staff.
Very good price to Malta if you can get it for this.

Never been to malta before but its about midway on my list.
Is there enough things to see and do for a whole week as i was thinking more like 4 days then going elsewhere

A week would be ok, depends what you like to do really. But you could do a day in Gozo, a half day cruise around the island followed by a few hours in Mdina. Take the hop-on/hop-off bus around the island for a day. Another half a day exploring Valletta, plus spend a couple of days on the beach. And if you like water sports you can do scuba diving, kayaking, jet-ski hire etc. If you are into history, then you will certainly fill the week. I would say that if you go for 4 days it will need to be like a military operation each day to see everything and you won't enjoy it so much. A week should do you fine.

I would recommend Gozo. Nice place  short ferry from mainland Malta!

That was definitely on my list how long you recommend just on the island
