Postage rates/deals between countries is a pretty complex thing. It's governed by something called 'Universal Postal Union' a part of the United Nations. Each member having to subsidise other members postage once the package/letter hits the receiving country. Remuneration is based on how developed a country is. That's why products from China are so cheap (or free) to post out, the poor'ol Royal Mail/Post Office takes a large hit.

I got mine a couple of days ago and downloaded the cardboard app. So far it's a disappointing piece of crap.
The problem is I can see two images on my phone, but when I look through the viewer the images are not in 3d. The images are not in sync with each other and all I'm seeing is double images. No 3d effect just double vision. The images are too far apart and need to be closer together.
How do I get the images closer together so that they merge into one 3d image?
My phone is a Xiaomi mi4c.

I had the same with the iPhone 6 Plus, I turned the eye pieces in the other direction and for me this resolved the issue. The lenses are within the cardboard section and I just turned it around. I got rid of the centre nose piece as it was useless. See if it works.

Used mine last night. Used a nexus 5 and a Samsung s3. Loved it. Worked as suggested. I wonder if the mi4c is too small for the viewer?
dz1 to solid
18 Feb 16#233
If anything the mi4c seems to be too big for the viewer. The phone is just slightly longer than the width of the viewer so I cannot quite get all the phone into the viewer.
I managed to make it better by changing the default setting to Aura version 2. The double vision is now gone but field of view is more limited than before. Not working as well as on other phones but it's better than nothing.

I found other mi4c owners with the same issue. I have found a solution by changing the default setting of the Google cardboard to another viewer. The field of view is a bit more limited now though, so it's not ideal.

Finally got mine. I already have a 'real' google cardboard from years ago which was painfully more expensive than this, and yeah it's better made, doesn't need an elastic band to hold it together and wasn't as fiddly to build, but the lenses in this new one are very similar and there's no big difference looking through it compared to the more expensive one.

I waited almost a month, it did arrive, but now I have a bigger frustration. I now have to figure out how much am I willing to spend on a "real" VR headset. It is a bit addictive. Though I have a set in my amazon basket for less than £30, I haven't yet decided if the novelty will wear off before I even get my next credit card bill. I will watch more with this cheap version, wishing it was more comfortable, before I decide.

I ordered 5 of these, and they turned up today. We've been playing with them in the office. It works surprisingly well. I've downloaded the cardboard camera app and recorded a view of the office, its quite freaky and jarring when you take them off and are in another part of the office... even though you know whats happening. Well worth the couple of quid I spent on them. Thanks OP.
Mine arrived today, seem OK, about as cheap and cheerful as expected. Didn't take that long to find instructions though, Google I blue cardboard assembly, or try this: http://youtu.be/dC3-6jIoKLM

Mine arrived on friday - around 3.5 weeks after order. Item is ok. The item description did not say it was a DIY - its not much just putting the pieces together, I did spend some time scratching my head about how to do it though. No instructions and many internet help pieces leave it at cutting a cardboard in the shape required...
for less than a pound, its ok. I wouldn't watch anything for more than 5 min on this because of the way it is - cheap lenses, weak cardboard, poor cuts..

Please, for the love of sanity, don't support this company! When things go well GearBest seem great. But when things go even a little bit wrong they are a big bloody pain in the backside.
Delays, missing and damaged items (they chuck your £100 tablet in a flimsy 1p bag with a loose UK plug charger - unbelievable!).
Their ticketing system is a joke. Their refund policy is criminal - you don't get your money back, instead they give you store credit which expires at the end of the year.
If you must use GearBest then use Paypal so you at least can try for a chargeback.
Really these guys should be banned from sites like HUKD. We can't list ebay or Amazon sellers that don't have a "UK presence" so why we allowing GearBest deals?
Rant off.

If you pay by Paypal it may be slightly more expensive, as they use a different means of calculating the exchange rate. The second one I ordered came out at 94p, still very cheap. this is what you call a loss leader.... this is designed to make a loss, but show you the possibilities of something better... henceforth you will buy the proper models later on...
Doesnt take a degree in thermo dynamics to work this out...
There's so many possibilities with this new technology and through VR cardboard it's affordable for all to try. After trying War of Words VR (http://www.techradar.com/news/wearables/best-google-cardboard-apps-and-games-1299697) I could instantly see the benefits from an educational point of view. As a kid I don't remember poems from school but stick a cool VR on a kid's head for this virtual experience and I would certainly not forget them in a hurry. I now remember this one I can tell you!
I ended up buying quite a few things from this site, items for me here in the UK, but also sent things to friends in the states. It cost me less than 2 pounds to send my best friend an iron man key chain, I know he will love it! I am amazed that the shipping is free. I can afford to send all my friends and family in the states a little something from this site cheaper than it costs to buy and post a greeting card.

I thought it was pretty good considering the price, and fact you could play it anywhere not just cabled up to your PC. I bought the headset for google cardboard before I realised it didn't have a gyro so was sat in a drawer. I'd used moonlight before to play footy manager 2016 in bed rather than bring up my laptop and streaming was excellent even with my basic BT router.
I probably need to play with the resolution setting as SBS makes everything a bit squashed but was certainly playable and could see all the icons etc (wife tried sims 3 with tri def on my monitor which was unusable as icons were all 2d). Only played it for a few minutes as I'm supposed to be database tuning but will have a proper bash the weekend.
I think if I can get head tracking working it will be excellent (btw the cardboard I use is slightly different to this, still cheap but suitable for larger phones). I've got a few spare ps3 eye cams with IR filters removed so might follow this guide
Will put some sugru or something over the nose piece as it hurts after a bit with the weight of the phone, will be pretty good with one of those bluetooth ipega controllers too.

According to a quick google you phone is 5.3mm wider than my phone, you may have to put a spacer between the velcro on the top, but it should still work fine.
If not, the lenses are the hard part to find, and you've got them now. Just copy the template onto a new piece of card and scale it up slightly.

I paid £15 a few years ago (reduced from £20 if not in black!). Love it and if you know where to look there's some amazing apps out there. Just search top 10 vr cardboard apps and go through the list. I bought J & M Virtual Reality Kit @ 45mm Focal Length 3D Google Cardboard which was one of the first so no competition. They're now £10 but better made (mine's still going strong and had so much use) on the cardboard front. Still could be cheaper though if inferior versions are now in the mix for less than a quid. They have 461 4 star reviews where's the rest only have a handful of reviews each. Says a lot.

other goods worth more than £15
alcohol, tobacco products and fragrances (eg perfume, eau de toilette and cologne) - of any value
Customs Duty
You’ll be charged Customs Duty on gifts and other goods sent from outside the EU if they’re above a certain value, unless the duty comes to less than £9.
The value includes:

Cheers OP. I thought this was a wind up and was peeing myself at the commas until I realised its for real after researching. I've ordered a couple.
How do these things look with a phone that has 1 or 2 cracks? And please no puns or but jokes.

The best one I tried was from Visr (they are the company who actually make Google Cardboard http://visr-vr.com/ ) but it looks a bit more expensive buying single units from their website, worth a look though.

Having had a company make these in our office I have tried lots of them.
Do yourself a favour and spend at least £3-4 on one of these, the lens will be 10x better and will make you less dizzy, plus give you much more realism and depth, plus less eye strain.

Stupidly cheap to have a go at VR - heat!
Ordered this one a few days back as my phone is too big for the standard cardboard shape.
Should hopefully last a bit longer and be more comfortable than the "disposable" version... Worth a fiver anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Current VR exists as:
Oculus Rift > Samsung VR > Google Cardboard + Clones.
You only begin to experience proper VR when you pay more money, and this is a lot more money because Samsung VR requires a compatible Samsung phone and the Oculus Rift requires a minimum specification PC which is essentially a higher end gaming PC. Google Cardboard is nothing like the experience of the other two devices mentioned.

I managed to make it better by changing the default setting to Aura version 2. The double vision is now gone but field of view is more limited than before. Not working as well as on other phones but it's better than nothing.
Not used it yet, bought it for the kids to play with so not too fussed on the build quality. Nothing a bit of tape can't sort anyway

for less than a pound, its ok. I wouldn't watch anything for more than 5 min on this because of the way it is - cheap lenses, weak cardboard, poor cuts..
thanks again
Delays, missing and damaged items (they chuck your £100 tablet in a flimsy 1p bag with a loose UK plug charger - unbelievable!).
Their ticketing system is a joke. Their refund policy is criminal - you don't get your money back, instead they give you store credit which expires at the end of the year.
If you must use GearBest then use Paypal so you at least can try for a chargeback.
Really these guys should be banned from sites like HUKD. We can't list ebay or Amazon sellers that don't have a "UK presence" so why we allowing GearBest deals?
Rant off.
ALl the best have been free btw. More I need to try here... http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/test-centre/gadget/12-best-google-cardboard-apps-2016-uk-3585299/ ;-)
I've got a few spare ps3 eye cams with IR filters removed so might follow this guide
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=25988
Will put some sugru or something over the nose piece as it hurts after a bit with the weight of the phone, will be pretty good with one of those bluetooth ipega controllers too.
If not, the lenses are the hard part to find, and you've got them now. Just copy the template onto a new piece of card and scale it up slightly.

I recently received a smashed up GoPro around 2 weeks ago and they will no longer acknowledge its their fault. It is down to me to pay for return shipping to China, to get a working device.
Give my regards to the nineteenth century. :man:

I've never seen a deal removed because the item ships from another country, loads of deals posted everyday from Amazon's European sites, many companies ship from abroad. I'd see the point if we couldn't buy from the site.
