The words 'Cabin Max Carry-on Backpack for Ryanair / Easyjet' is a very misleading because it implies that the bag is sized to the maximum for the airlines. It's guaranteed to fly with Easyjet & Ryannair only because it's well undersized compared to the companies allowable limits!
This bag is 50 x 40 x 20cm = 40 litres. That's is 5 litres short of Ryannairs 56 x 40 x 20cm = 45 litres, and a whopping 23 litres short of Easyjets 56 x 45 x 25cm = 63 litres limit.
The Trekbuddy is only 1 litre short of the ryannair limit at 55 x 40 x 20cm = 44litres.
Much depends on the actual measurements because some bags are labelled larger than they really are, many claiming 40cm wide when they are actually only 36cm.
I have a trekbuddy that's about 3 years old for £9.99 from home bargains. Between the family it's done 26 flights with no issues other than the lack of zips on the internal pockets. One benefit of the trekbuddy over the capital is that because the external pocket zips are straight across on the capital, it's difficult to put your documents in/out without damage when well packed, whilst the trekbuddys pocket is curved and will fold back making document access much easier.

I'm one of them lol. There is no real comparison imo. I've hammered a cabin max over the years and it's still going strong. Can't say the same about the 2 x Trek buddy which I bought enthusiastically and binned soon after - fell apart.

I have a cabin max bag, which I love, but was once charged as apparently it was too big for an Easyjet flight from Spain (Even though it was fine on the way out!) So just double check before you stuff it with holiday souvenirs!!

Can anyone tell me how rigid are these? Would it be possible to squash it down to 32 x 40 x 20 so it can be used on Wizzair too? It would be nice to have one bag that can be used at max sizes for all airlines.

regular price is £25 ish ...... so variants are more expensive
I think there are two weights 660gram and 700 gram - the lighter ones are more expensive - these are 700gram
this is the cheapest I have seen them - normally they vary between £20 and £25

Anybody know if the TrekBuddy in home bargains is a continually stocked item?
I have two of these. The quality is good but there are some faults in the product. The customer service is TERRIBLE!
I bought two (1 black and 1 blue). When they arrived, there was a substantial difference in size. To the point where filling it to full capacity would mean it was over the allowed dimension size for RyanAir. I emailed the company with photos which clearly showed it was a different size and they dismissed this straight away. Secondly, these are just big rucksacks - they have a large main compartment with no straps inside, so if you fill them full with clothes and put them on your back, all your clothes will crush to the bottom (creases!!) and will make it uncomfortable to carry.
I would never buy again!!!!

at the end of the day they are a cheap solution to maximising carry on allowance on cheap airlines
two top tips for this typoe of use - use a bag appropriate to teh amount of stuff you are carrying and use packing cubes / packing bags ..... tehy weight almost nothing and keep clothes in shape - and always roll clothes, don't fold them
as far as C/S is concerned - my order has shipped already and they have answered my question as to who the courier is within minutes !

Been many years since I used to back pack all over the place but I used to pile t shirts/shirts flat on top of each other, then 'fold in' the sleeves, then roll the whole pile up so you have...well....a 'roll' of shirts. That way if your careful = less creases when you 'unroll' at your destination.
Mind you that was with a ruck sack, these bags are a lot smaller.

I have a all black Cabin Max backpack and have used it on over 20 Ryanair flights. It is excellent as it allows you to make full use of your weight restriction cabin luggage as it is very lightweight compared to wheeled cases etc. One thing I would say though is that carrying a full 10kg on your back is hard work and putting it in an overhead locker no mean fete. If you are late for a connection, running with 10kg on your shoulders is a killer.
