Fancy a week in Montenegro in the school holidays? I think this is a great value school holiday break to Budva in Montenegro. Granted it's not your Majorca or Tenerife but there are gorgeous beaches and it would be great for a low key relaxing week. At this price you can't go wrong.
The price includes Easyjet flights (only hold luggage included) a highly rated apartment and estimated taxi costs (there are plenty of pre-bookable taxi firms available), or alternatively you can look at hiring a car. I would also contact the apartment direct to see if they can get you a good deal on airport transfers as you may get even cheaper. The holiday price is based on 2 adults and 2 children flying from Manchester 4-11th August.
has anyone any experience of holidays in Montenegro? From a bit of research, it looks like you need to move away from main tourist areas, but driving not recommended?

Visited Montenegro in 2013, around the Kotor area. Amazingly beautiful country. We did hire a car which was definitely worth it to travel around the coast. Drivers are quite wild and erratic and in one instance the main road turned into a dirt track for a few miles, but all good fun. Didn't see or visit any beaches.

Been to budva & going again in May. It's lovely no idea why driving would not be recommended - I'd say the opposite. It's like anywhere; local drivers get a bit impatient and you tend to drive slower then them but the main roads are ok and you can get to some great national parks/waterfalls/beaches etc. It's about 1.5 hours drive on to Dubrovnik in Croatia if you fancy that as well. Kotor is very pretty.
Parts of budva have seen rapid development and aren't that pretty but stick to the old town & it's lovely. For school holidays I'd say that's a bargain.

Hotel Astoria in the old town might be worth looking at.

I think this price for flights is for cabin baggage ONLY - worth double checking this

Yes cabin baggage only with Easyjet but there is no limit on weight as long as you stick to size.

Thanks to all respondents. Rachelandgromit: As Montenegro isn't yet in EU, is there anything I need to be aware of? Want to take 2 young grandchildren..... (thanks)

I don't think so, you can check out Tripadvisor for activities but I don't think you should have any issues. I guess just deciding re currency whether to take cash or use ATM's etc.

It should be fine with children - it's euros there but lots of places don't take credit cards (larger hotels do) so take cash.

Thanks again everyone. Foreign Office advice does say an underlying threat from Terrorism, but then if you put "France" in instead it says High Terror Alert, and National Emergency has been declared for 3 months! Maybe all down to preconceptions.... I'll be looking at this deal and any others from East European countries as these often offer the best value and quality of holiday..... especially in school holidays... (we used to visit Croatia before it became "popular" and expensive..)

I would guess most places in the UK would have similar warnings.

Yes, even Spain is classed as "high level of threat of terrorism"! Who'd have thought that Montenegro would have a lower risk!

Just make sure you have adequate travel insurance so if FCO guidance changes you are covered if you have to cancel.
