Saw this being demonstrated at a Christmas market but didn't want to spend £15 on it... Glad I didn't now!
Gets great reviews and looked pretty great in action... £5 seems pretty good to me!

These are great BTW, just don't use £500 knives on them or the knife police will come knocking.

Prepare for lots of posts from knife snobs. I posted a deal for one of these a while ago and am still suffering sleepless nights.

Not really, Global deals regularly appear, I for one bought my first as part of a special 25 anniversary special for £5, after that I realised that they really were better and got a set from Costco.
I bought one for my parents after getting fed up with blunt knives when trying to cook at their house, what I wasn't prepared for was my Dad, using one of these a couple of years later to sharpen it, the amount of metal ripped of the blade was scary, admittedly it was sharp, but at that rate the knife would soon wear away.

It's easier to gain/maintain wealth if you are careful with your money. I've got a set of 9 Japanese knives.

Last time this was posted here I went to my local Asda and the person in charge of that department had never heard of it . Do they only stock certain stores like in Gunchester or London?
As per usual oos online , by the time I come to the thread !

It's nothing to do with snobbery, it's basic maths, why you shouldn't use one of these things on decent Japanese knives.

We have been using one for around 4 years and it is still going. Great little sharpener.

I've had one of these for a few years, it's great for sharpening, but only for a mid priced knife set, it does take a bit too much steel off for a good set.
It's a steel at this price

I have one of these found it really good better I fact than much more expensive sharpeners bought my in asda about two and a half years ago and is still going strong.

not this one again. to save everyone time, they all sort of work this one not as well as most, but the only way to sharpen a knife is to use a steel. that is why the chefs and butchers use them. I have a kitchen devil one and it works well, I checked them out when this one came on here a couple of years ago. A steel probably takes years to learn how to use, but one day I will probably get one. When you can use it you will look pretty talented as well.

a steel is for a different purpose it is to maintain the blade however it would not be aggressive enough to make a dull blade sharp this would be achieved by the use of stone's. this sharpener would replace the stones not the steel which should still be used regularly to maintain the blades sharpness.

this will help put an edge back on a knife , use a steel daily and this every couple of months

Strange use of the word 'snobs' I've seen this in many threads and most people who advise against using this sharpener only do so because it is so aggressive.
