Just got this last week before it dropped in price by £30. Absolutely beautiful screen, with 100% sRGB colour accuracy (perfect for graphic design and photo editing), a response time of 4ms (great for gaming, and the best I've found for a mid-range IPS), and a max brightness of 350cd/m2.
Simply the best IPS screen I could find for the price, and the new discount only sweetens the deal.

The 'IPS' screen isn't as good compared to my old AOC i2369Vm 1080p IPS monitor, and 4K video is extremely overrated.
Unless you are gaming (in which case you either need a GTX 980ti or wait for the newer GPU's) or you genuinely need the real estate for work (get the Phillips 40"), 4K monitors should be avoided.
I have a few high quality 1080p vids at 60fps and those same vids at 4K res 60fps. The difference is absolutely negligible. Presumably this all has to do with the limits of the human eye, but when you consider SD to 1080p was spectacular, 1080p to 4K is a massive let down. TV companies are trying their hardest to make 4K look good by down scaling their current HD content, don't be fooled.

Thanks for the info.
My main use would be for photo editing and I'd read today on some forum that 1440 on a 25" screen isn't ideal as text etc looks so small. I then started considering a 27", possibly the Dell U2715 as it doesn't appear to be that much more expensive than the Acer H2775HU and it has better stand flexibility. That said, a 27" IPS is almost double the price of the monitor in this deal and that would mean that I wouldn't be able to get myself a new screen calibration device within my budget (my Huey Pro wouldn't work with LED screens). Sod's law!

29 Dec 152#25
At 4K res you absolutely need something of 27" or above. I currently have mine scaled to 130% in Windows 8.1, which is why I mentioned the Phillips 40" screen. It's about £200.00 more than your average 4K monitor, and it is big, but you don't need to scale on it. It'd be a godsend for your Photo editing needs. On the other hand you'll need a pretty powerful GPU to handle all those pixels on the screen.
At 1440p I think you could get away with 25", but again you'd need to scale it in Windows. 1440p is more of a compromise between 4K and 1080, and i'd say at the moment that's the sweet spot for PC gamers who want to use a 980ti/Fury X with most settings on ultra.
Might be worth waiting another 6 months to see what new monitors are out and what the new nVidia/AMD cards can do. You might have to wait 12 months or so for the Maxwell 980ti killers though.

Yeah, 4k (and to an extent, even 2k) would be pushing it for an onboard graphics card IMO. For Photoshop work, you'll want an IPS with decent sRGB colour accuracy. I also wanted a 4ms response time for games, so I literally just searched for IPS screens with 4ms, and researched the options that came up.
If gaming isn't important to you, then you won't have to worry about response time and you'll have far more options  Just search for IPS and you're good to go.
To check the sRGB for any model, search google with "(model name/code here) srgb review". This will bring up a bunch of reviews that put the monitors under a series of tests, including colour accuracy checks. Hope this helps!

For an Ivory Bridge processor with Intel HD Graphics 4000 (what you have) you can get away with 1440p (this monitor), Haswell can support UHD 4K (3840x2160). For anything higher Skylake or Broadwell is a must.
HDMI 1.4 can support 4K at 30Hz or 1440p at 60Hz, HDMI 2.0 increases 4K to 60Hz. DisplayPort 1.2 can do 4K at 60. Ivory Bridge processors have HDMI 1.4, athough i'm not sure whether they have a Displayport on them, the modern CPU's do.
If you're gaming, a dedicated GPU at 4K is an absolute must, and right now only a 980ti or Fury X are your only real options.

Check the warranty on the item you're purchasing... Scan always cover the item personally for a set period before passing the warranty onto the manufacturer. Even then it's a decently long period (usually one to two years), and they will still usually honour it out of warranty if you ask nicely. They have only ever gone above and beyond for me, can't say a bad word against them.
jomay
29 Dec 15#51
In my (first-hand) experience, Scan simply passes defect products to the manufacturer even if it is in the first year of warranty. Scan even "forgot" to chase the manufacturer repair centre for me. The whole process took several months. The way Scan solved it was terrible for me - I basically lost a lot of money. The manufacturer MSI was even worse, though.
Asking nicely has had no effect at all. It only lets them off the hook.
Summary: Scan + rude/bad manufacturer => lots of pain.
There's quite a few customers on trustpilot that agree with me. Scan used to have a rating of less than 4. I don't understand how they got to a 8.8 by now. Maybe they offered rebates for good reviews.
eddeddeddedd
29 Dec 151#52
If you're out of warranty, they're already off the hook :P At that stage they're not obligated to exchange your item.
I can't say I've had the same experience at all in the 7 years I've shopped with them. They replaced one faulty HDD with no quibbles right away, another one out of Scan's warranty (the manufacturer offered a lifetime warranty, so Scan really didn't have to do this)... They even tracked down a free gift (that came with a laptop) for me once that had long gone out of stock. Maybe they just like my voice? :P Haha

Is the 16:10 ratio of the 2415 actually more useful than that extra inch and res of the 2515 anyone?

Sorry, your comment is off topic. As I have explained the item I returned was a few months old and it obviously still had warranty. I even told them that I'd take it to a small claims court, but Scan didn't care. And I had too much going on to actually pursue it in the end.
I've had the best customer service experience with Pixmania, which is odd given that quite a few customers complained about it. They took back a broken graphics card a month before the warranty expired - and refunded me in full(!). According to customer complaints in forums and review sites Scan actually replaced defect graphics cards with equally used cards of similar value. Whatever that turns out to be.
Another common complaint with Scan is that deliveries are not on time even if a fast service was paid for. Scan won't reimburse the fees if they do not deliver on time. They simply point to their T&C's...
eddeddeddedd
30 Dec 15#57
Ok... What did you do to cheese them off? I can understand that companies can sometimes give bad experiences, but the delivery times? If you order before 4pm, you will get an automatic text message by around 8pm, notifying you that your delivery has been confirmed. The following morning, you will receive another text message with a delivery time, and then a final one when the item has been delivered. This has been consistent, apart from the time they were trying to chase up my free gift that accidently held up the rest of my order. They sorted it out after the cutoff point and STILL got me my laptop the following day. The gift came a few days later after they managed to find me one from the manufacturer.

Thanks Ivory Bridge processors have HDMI 1.4, did not know that and was a bit of a sticking point. Will stick with the HD 4000 because I don't want to change much in my PC, especially the CPU and mobo. This is good because there are sooooo many monitors out there its a good filter to know about - no 4k displays. (immediate afterthought - could I run a 4k display as a 1440 with some special software that would cut the HD4 4000 some slack? Some future proofing in getting a 4k screen even though not used natively).
BluesFanUK
30 Dec 151#62
You can change the res to 1440 on a 4K screen via the display options, though if you are going to invest in a monitor like that I would strongly suggest upgrading your PC first. If not, stick to a native 1440 one.
Use something like DinoPC or PCSpecialist, you can build a very powerful Skylake machine for relatively little, and at the rate the current tech is going at it would last you a good six or seven years at the minimum.

Cant really give you a scientific answer for colour reproduction, Its certainly a step up from my TN panel but that's to be expected. Photos look great to me on the screen but I dont really have any experience in photo editing/production
Overall impressions are good, build quality is great, thankfully no dead pixels! There is some IPS glow/backlight bleed in the bottom left and right corner.
I'm a gamer and browser and it handles games as well/better than my old TN monitor. Haven't notice any ghosting or increase in input lag.
Only thing I haven't sorted yet is some text looks fuzzy in Windows 10. I'm currently dual booting Windows 7+10 and both with text scaling set to 125% and Windows 7 is perfect but on 10 the text on this site looks ever so slightly blurry.
Other text around the screen like address bar etc are clear.
EDIT*
Another thing I noticed but hard to explain is because the actual is sat a few mm's back from the front plastic that cover the screen all the way to the out edge. If you look at an extreme you almost get what look like a shadow over the edge of the screen. I've checked to make sure its not a protective film over the screen that I haven't removed.
Hear what you are saying but my desktop was self built when the Sandy bridge came out i think and I've not used it that much. Kinda not wanting to ditch it, read all about current PC components (big deal as I'm not pc savvy) and build another just for the sake of being able to use 4K. Can't even sell my current rig for decent price as it may have been damaged by a faulty gang plug that arced the electricity to the 3 pin plug of the PSU. Thought it was an internal thing I couldn't figure out till the penny dropped one day. I'm sure arcing for a few seconds at a time did nothing good. PC seems slower for it.

In your case if you had notified Scan within 7 days that you would like to cancel the contract then Scan should have refunded you in full. They are only allowed to charge you for the return postage. At least that is my understanding of the distance selling regulations.

Yup, they said this. They pretty much had me banged to rights because it was a christmas present, and by the time Christmas had come and i'd opened it, 7 days had already passed. They refused to accept it was a fault because of ISO regulations (which are apparently exempt from the consumer rights act anyway) so I didn't even get the extended 30 days. This was particularly dumb...
Me: ((quotes the consumer rights act, and my 30 day right to a replacement/refund for faulty goods))
Scan: Who are you to say it's faulty? You're not the manufacturer.
Me: So if my fridge stops working, i'm not in a place to say it's broken unless I built the thing??
I even tried to say i've been a loyal customer (in a last ditch attempt for some decent service) and the woman responded with "well to be fair, there are other accounts that have spent more than you". Never going with them again!

Is the 16:10 ratio of the 2415 actually more useful than that extra inch and res of the 2515 anyone?
And how does this Acer stack up vs. the U2515? The lack of height adjustable stand is a bit off putting but how big of a deal is that?
I've had the best customer service experience with Pixmania, which is odd given that quite a few customers complained about it. They took back a broken graphics card a month before the warranty expired - and refunded me in full(!). According to customer complaints in forums and review sites Scan actually replaced defect graphics cards with equally used cards of similar value. Whatever that turns out to be.
Another common complaint with Scan is that deliveries are not on time even if a fast service was paid for. Scan won't reimburse the fees if they do not deliver on time. They simply point to their T&C's...
Use something like DinoPC or PCSpecialist, you can build a very powerful Skylake machine for relatively little, and at the rate the current tech is going at it would last you a good six or seven years at the minimum.
I can't really do any in depth checks on response time or input lag but is there anything anyone wants me to check out for them?
I've checked to make sure its not a protective film over the screen that I haven't removed.
couple of pics to try and explain what I mean.

Honestly, never had to use their customer services, but they've always been solid when I bought from them. I just picked the DPD next day delivery and they emailed me the hour slot which saved me looking up the tracking number.
EDIT This has now gone up to £257. Still cheap but £40 more than I paid last week :-(
So yeah... you're right, I was wrong. Scan sucks.
Welcome to the club of Scan-haters. We are a selected group of Scanm'ed individuals that vote down Scan deals on here or post their frustration about Scan's behaviour.
In your case if you had notified Scan within 7 days that you would like to cancel the contract then Scan should have refunded you in full. They are only allowed to charge you for the return postage. At least that is my understanding of the distance selling regulations.
