4 x 5kg plates = 19.99
buy 3 sets get £20 off
3 * 19.99 - 20 = 39.97
which is pretty cheap for the weight if a little bulky
can do the same with the 10kg plates but as they are a fiver more per set they come out at 54.97 (hopefully they'll go down again too)
also of interest were the 2x15kg mens health rubber rimmed plates for 39.99 for a bit less noise.
no good for certain strong guys but for mere mortals its good

The ones I pick up from Argos, that posted on here. Are a little bulky. But a 3 for 2 and £40-41 for 60kg was a bargain,

Are you referring to the plates in this deal? If so, what do you mean they are bulky? Thicker than other plates?

not really

Shame the 10kg plates aren't the same price as the 5s this time round.

Good price for the weight but ultimately limiting as I'd imagine there wouldn't be much room for adding anything else to the bar.
I can't speak for these 5kg plates as I don't own any but I got 6x 10kg for £50 last time they were on offer and as said, they're bulky. You could fit 3x York 10kg iron plates in the space taken by 2x 10kg Pro fitness plates.
"no good for certain strong guys but for mere mortals its good". Depends on what you're doing with it! My wife could deadlift 60kg easily and she doesn't even lift but she can lift my 84kg ass whilst I'd probably struggle with 60kg in a standing press.

how thick are these? i was going off the Q+A which says 3cm - is that inaccurate or was it rough and rounded down?
york cast iron 5kg are supposed to be 2.7cm so only about 10% bigger if Q+A is right
for bulk i was meaning you need to add many more plates vs the larger weights (obviously)
obviously the usefulness depends what you are doing with it, as a hammer it may work but isn't recommended
...as a sandwich filling thats a big no no.
i guess the 5kgs are a bit more flexible in some ways than the 10kgs as the diameter of the 10kgs is just too big for dumbbell bars whereas these can be used for either.

Is it just plates, no dumbbell bar?

You don't need to be particularly strong to find an Olympic (2" hole) weights system beneficial.
Not a massive amount of training to get to the point I'd say - certainly well under a year for plenty of people.
Still, a good price and you'll likely make money at the point you decide to upgrade.
