This relates to this posting which is expired for some reason though that was for broadband, this is for fibre-optic. I followed the steps posted by Blacksky200 on page 21 which states -

I have managed to buy the deal, with 12 month contract and the £50 credit just today.

In addition £60 cashback (TCB) has also tracked.

So, unless I have understood it wrong, I am paying £114 for the whole year, including the line rental. That's £9.50 pm.

12 month cost breakdown:
Cost of BB = £60 (5 x 12)
Line Rental = £164 (paid on the phone after buying)
Sub-Total = £224
Less new customer code= £50
Sub-Total = £174
Less TCB = £60 (*not guaranteed)
TOTAL = £114 or 9.50/month

You also may still be able to get it.

1. Go to the direct deal link (thanks to aaqeel):
http://store.virginmedia.com/quick-checkout?productCodes=Deepest_US_BB50&postcode=&buspart=uk_afl_a_cable_na_na_trade_direct_uSwitch%20Communications_generic&tduid=08d264deaf73b674b1dfc79a8e19ecd3&CMP=DFA:1921795:115854716:288871583:0
(thanks to aaqeel)
2.On the page that comes up, confirm the details such as 12 month contract etc.
3. At the bottom of the page add one of the New customer codes mentioned in the main post.
4. Continue to the Review and Pay page, but DO NOT 'Place the Order'
5. Go to Quidco or TopCashBack in a new browser tab and go on the Virgin website through that (it will open the new tab with the 18month deal.
6. Go back to your original 'Review and Pay' page and 'Place the order'. The order confirmation will confirm the 12 month contract.
7. Call the customer service on 0800 0527588 and confirm your order and pay for your line rental up front - £164

I followed this and put in the code (VMBRVOU50) and it went through, and I now have conformation of the order with the self installation package selected (VMVOU50 is another possible code). This is by far the best Fibre deal I could find as I have changed from BT.

My calculations are line rental and broadband at £22.99pm totaling £275.88 less the £50 credit = £225.28. This is £18.82 pm.

Was paying TalkTalk £52 p/m off contract, best they could offer was £27.70 for 12 months, £37.70 afterwards.
Never had a major problem with them but guess the hack must have affected them a lot from giving better deals.

Been with Virgin for two years now. Not the best but I don't see any other company with 100% customers who are satisfied with their service, and be prepared to spent time attempted to fix your service with Virgin. It comes and goes constantly.

I went for it in the end - followed the instructions, rang up and paid the line rental up front of 164 and received the email. When I spoke to her, she asked me to go ahead and complete the order online and give her the reference number, then she could take the payment over the phone. She rang back a few minutes later to tell me a couple of things she forgot - that the 50 pounds discount is taken off the first bill and that the wireless speaker arrives after 28 days.

I work out that that it costs around 25 quid a month for the big easy bundle (tv, 50 mbs broadband, talk weekends) on a 12month contract. (164 line rental + 14.99 per month) - 50 new customer online discount = 293.88 / 12 = 24.49

I did this by following the Uswitch deal and adding the TV on top. I've no idea if quidco tracked or not, but I did open the quidco site and click the link a couple of times before I confirmed! it will be a bonus if it does track.
Wide Awake Jake to Wide Awake Jake
2 Feb 16 #95
Update - I've received the contract today and it states 18month contract for the Big easy bundle - which is what I bought.
Its 14.99 per month (Plus the 164 line rental I have already paid) - minus 50, which must be the new customer discount. I also introduced someone and they said they would credit us both with 50 pounds.

So only difference is that it's 18 month - but I would have probably ended up staying with them anyway. They said it will go up to 24 per month after 12 months, then I guess you add what ever the line rental will be. On the online order, it says 17.99 a month, so it should be 41.99 per month after that, for 6 months.

Quidco didn't track, but you can still make a claim against it, once the installation has taken place, so I will do that to see if I can get the 60 quid. On the person I referred, she just got the broadband and phone, and her quidco tracked within the hour. She also worked it out as 9.50 a month, with the quidco I think.

Signed up earlier in the week... managed to get the offer and pay for Line Rental up front, and the £50 credit from Post 1. Also...they offered me to refer a friend, which meant an extra £50 credit too...

The deal worked out as -

Line Rental = £164 (12 months)
Broadband = £60 (12 months)

Total = £224

************************

Account Credit = £50 (code 1st post)
Account Creidt = £50 (refer a friend)

*************************************

£224 minus £100 = £124.

Total Cost = £10.34 per month

*********************************

We have also attempted to sell the £50 credit my friend receives (£50 each per referral) to them for £25.00 (you never know). Plus the possibility of the £30 TCB cashback processing....

If that does happen, thats one good deal...

I did signed up Virgin first, then got a installation date. After that I called Sky first time said I wanted to cancel on the Virgin installation date. They didn't able to give me a good deal during the first call. 3 days later, they emailed me ask me to call again hence I got the deal. Make sure you call to a UK based call center, the Indian based call center is not able to give good deal if I am not mistaken...

+17.99*12=£215.88

Phone and cancel wait for the loyalty team to phone you, will take around a week. Retentions can only offer some discount it is the loyalty team who can offer more. If they don't happen to call you then you can stop your cancellation anytime within the 30 day period.

I got 200mb bb, xl tv, phone line rental including the £4 increase due next month for £49.99 I also got £50 credit to my account. I cancelled on the 13/01/16 and they called me offering me the new deal last night, we negotiated and I was happy to accept that.

I could also have had the 100mb bb, large tv and line rental for £32 a month plus the £50 credit

The 50mb bb small tv line rental and £50 credit for just over £20 a month, cant remember the exact figure

Sounds like a high utilisation problem. Phone them back and get someone else. They should deduct your monthly bill for this as they can see when this area is being affected by this issue. Unfortunately it isn't something they will fix overnight but they will fix it eventually I guess they have gave you a estimate time to be resolved. ex VM BB tech support.

Yes, I've have got a £10 discount, but the monthly figure I pay (near £30 for 30mb bb and phone) is still £10 over what I was paying a few years ago and what I'm happy to pay, simply because they constantly upped the prices in that time. It seems they want fresh blood to exploit given the way they treat existing customers.

As far as I am aware no, I got offered no where near this deal by retentions and I tried them twice. I cancelled last week with a cut off date of 13/02 tonight I was called by the loyalty team who gave me the new deal. He said basically they were paying the line rental for me for the year and then applying a further discount of a few pounds and applying credit of £50 to my account. I thought I could have paid the line rental in advance to make it even cheaper but they have paid it for me. This is part of the email I received:

Hello,

Thanks for taking Line Rental Saver for the next 12 months. We're just letting you know we've received your payment of £164 by debit/credit card.

By paying up front for a year's line rental, you've cut £39.88 from the full price of £203.88.

I did not give him my debit or credit card details so they must have paid it.

I agree.... it's all business i guess?
But it does **** people off when you sign a legal contract for a certain price for 12 or 18 months...... and half way through it, they suddenly 'up' the price.

looneychoonz74
18 Jan 16 1 #26
In a nutshell.... they're greedy!
always upping the price whenever they want to, but always in smaller 'unnoticable' amounts throught the year.
No loyalty whatsoever to loyal customers (been with them for about 15 years)
And to add an extra kick in the boll*cks, they drop 'new customer' deals, for double the value you're currently on for under half the price, and don't give you sh*t for your loyalty unless you threaten to cancel.
even then they try to palm you off with a measly fiver off a month unless you play hardball and stick to your guns!

But as mentioned before....... They are most definately the fastest fibre broadband in the UK.
But as for any customer loyalty, there is none!
It's all swings and roundabouts, just have to see if you're lucky enough to blag a good deal from them when you threaten to leave.

speedtest.net to test your speed. Always had pretty gd speeds from vm. Missed the uswitch deal the other day, they had taken it off just after I had phoned up and cancelled! Planned to take this out tonight after seeing your post today but the loyalty department have just called offered me xl tv, 200mb broadband inc line rental with no price increase for £49.99. Also gave me the £50 credit that uswitch were offering, so just renewed. Just mentioning incase anyone cancelled other day and hasn't set up their deal yet, would check the rates on quido/tcb as they will likely apply that as free credit.

Should note you cant apply the line saver rental to that monthly price as virgin are using that saving to reduce your bill. Offered me all the current uswitch new customer deals and reduced them by about £5 a month as well as would give the £50 credit on even the lowest package.
