Can't call him a thief, in order to steal u have to steal the item. Making a copy or backup the original is still there and not been removed or taken away so you are not stealing. xD

Having a backup card and using it is no different to copying music from a CD to iTunes to put on an iPod/iPhone..which I bet a lot of people on this website do.
