Just booked for my other half's dad to come down from Warrington on the Sunday before Christmas, cheapest fare by a country mile as we only invited him last night. Also, he'll think he is special as it's a 1st class ticket. Winner.

They did this on purpose. they knew people would panic and book from black friday to cyber monday, SO THEY DROP THIS THE FOLLOWING DAY!
wenches. I could've got an earlier train for half the price. I AM SO MAD!!!!!

Be very careful. Some 'seat sale' tickets are more expensive than advance tickets, and 'seat sale' prices do not attract railcard discounts either.

A lot of the fares are +£10 or even more compared to standard on these tickets - you can pay £10/15 per way on most weekend journeys
I can get 50% off all VT fares already but this is still a very good deal but only if you travel on weekdays (Monday to Friday). Weekend First is no comparison, you get sub-standard drinks and snacks, free wifi and a slightly bigger seat. That's it! And don't forget the run up to Christmas, usually the week beforehand, it will be Weekend First offerings only on all VT services, so you can upgrade to First Class as usual for £10/15, until after the New Year when normal First Class service resumes.

Thanks OP. First class London to Goasgow return for £70. I get Easyjet staff travel and this was still cheaper!

It's nice for even a day out , you get to use the lounge at London Euston with free food , drinks and newspapers , then breakfast on the train and some sort of afternoon food and drink on the way back , plus a nice bit of shopping the other end , have booked a return fare , same day , just for a nice break and will make a change from standard class as I NEVER book 1st class , plus a bit of retail therapy , then home again in comfort , nice!

I just booked trains from Liverpool to London and back for Feb 9th and got the reduced price then too, despite them saying it is only until Jan 23rd! Given prices will go up again in January that is a BIG saving!

Not a bad price if you don't have a railcard. If you have one it's not too great. Heat added though. A saving is a saving.

Booked and great prices direct from Shrewsbury to London, in effect a free upgrade to 1st class. Wouldn't let me change the seat at the point of booking on the outbound leg, so either I got the last 1st class seat or you get what they allocate...either way it will be fine. Thanks OP
