I used to buy my specs from Goggles4u but I started geting headaches when reading. When I recieved the last pair I bought the headaches were more frequent and I realised it might be the glasses, took them to local optician who does my eye tests and was told that the glasses were not only to the wrong prescription but wearing them would make my eyes worse. Took pair I had bought 6 months before to optician and was told they were even worse.
I love a Bargain, but like my eyes and reading even more.

Glasses are one of the only things that I can never buy online. Often in specsavers there's only one pair among about 100 pairs of glasses that I find suitable so finding one online I find difficult, possible but a bit of a risk. The 100 quid hit I take at specsavwrs I just absorb (2 for one offer) but it's good as I'm prone to breaking them and they fix them for free.

quality is't that good to be honest. that was my experience.

Googles4u are based in India, you used to be able to buy them for a quarter of the price directly, then some UK middle man set up this UK website and cashed in. Goggle4u unfortunately don't do international orders to the uk now anymore.

To be fair iv had problems with selectspecs on multiple occasions. Those were on Oakley frames but the lenses are really cheap quality regardless of options. From things like lenses not centred, scratched lenses, slightly twisted frames, to lenses being really difficult to clean (weird but true). Maybe the more difficult prescriptions is where these online places struggle with.

They always pushed the boat out to rectify but never satisfied.

Paying over the odds in a store does seem strangely worth it.

I've used Googles4u for quite a few years. The glasses come from Pakistan (not India) so allow weeks rather than days for delivery. They come well packed in a proper hard case. My first order came in a cloth bag, fastened with sealing wax but they've used more modern packaging since!

The quality of the frames is variable but usually fine and I've had no issues with the prescription.

There's really no substitute for being able to try frames on before buying. The solution is to get a pair that fits you well and measure every part very carefully before ordering. The Goggles4u site gives measurements for each part of a frame.

Even when I do this, I often find that a pair from Goggles4u, while not actually faulty, never becomes really comfortable. I accept that there will be a certain failure rate because they are so stupidly cheap.

Some UK-based services let you try on before you buy. I've never tried them because they charge so much for my slightly unusual prescription and for various extras that I'd rather go to Specsavers.

i`d really appreciate if anyone has ever bought from online glasses sellers(official title) and have them checked to see if they are accurate, to the prescription
all i ever read are stories of terrible quality but really low prices
how hard can it be?

I bought 2 pairs of glasses from G4U and both were faulty. The first pair one of the arms came off after 6 months with part of the plastic lens. They would not refund me. After 12 months, the arm came off the other pairand they used to fall off my face anyway which clearly showed they were not made the same size as the other pair which did not fall off my face. Poor quality goods. Cold.

Not sure I understand why you'd expect them to be. The measurements for each frame are given on the web site. You have to choose the right ones when you order.

welliesorter - re your comment, when I bought mine G4U asked me to measure the distance across my face saying they needed it to get the frames to fit on my ears.

Ive bought many pairs over the past decade really, I go for the thinner lens with a range of coatings from total sunglasses to photochromic and never had an issue.
maybe its the cheaper lens they pay less attention too ?

Thought it was a too good deal to be true after reading some of the reviews here. Stick to specsavers then although my prescription costs me a fortune :/

Generally, outliers aside, you get what you pay for people!
This is your eyesight not a throw away gadget.

I used to work in an opticians and the amount of times we had customers coming in with problems cause of glasses that they had ordered online I would stick well clear of anything online as even is they do get ur prescription correct they can still mess up you lens alignment which in effect will mean that your glasses are at a different prescription. I would honestly spend a little more and then have them measured properly in an opticians. But that is just my opinion

Never bought glasses but pretty sure I need them now (the fact I can't see as well as I used to has tipped me off).

How does the pricing work? Are all the quoted prices just the frames or will the actual prescibed lenses be included as well?

If not, how much more are they likely to be?
