Slightly misleading title; be aware that this does not have an SSD; it's a 32gb eMMC and as such is not replaceable/upgradable. The only way to expand storage is via the micro-SD slot.
The tablet has a microSDHC slot, and a microUSB port which can do host mode and allow an OTG adaptor with a USB card reader.
The dock has a full sized SDHC card slot, and a full sized USB port.
I know this because I have one, and have managed to make Linux run acceptably, but not great, booting off a small partition in the eMMC and running off micro SDHC card.

Yep, Toshiba's own spec sheet is wrong.
This has an eMMC drive....and a woefully slow one at that!

Would this be better than the Linx 1010b?

Yes, due to the much higher resolution screen. Rest of the core spec is the same

eMMC is so.... slow......, so much slower than normal HDD, not to mention SSD. May even be slower than my good MicroSD.
I will never buy one with eMMC.
I was fooled once before when seller say SSD when in fact was eMMC.
eMMC is just painful to use. Do not expect normal laptop performance.

You are not quite right in your assessment. eMMC is slower than an SSD, but on random read/writes and access times, it is faster than a conventional HDD.
The problem with this Click is that its eMMC drive is roughly half as fast as the eMMC drive in the Acer Switch 11 for example.

This or the linx 1010?

The screen resolution is tempting on this one. Plus battery life is better.
But the full size USB on the Linx are super useful. (Tosh has a full size in the keyboard)
But slightly different sizes, so harder to directly compare.

Comments about memory speed have put me off. Everything else looks nice.

Plenty of cheap hybrids around the £120-£200 mark. This has the distinction of having a good quality full HD screen and a full size usb port. However, like all the other cheapies, the pennies have to be saved elsewhere to achieve the price point. I wouldn't necessarily let the 2GB memory and the relatively slow 32GB eMMC put you off. For the applications it will be used for (surfing, emails, word processing/excel, viewing media and v light gaming) given the modest cpu, i doubt you will even notice any speed problems. The name of the game will be to keep multi tasking (e.g. open browser tabs) to the minimum. For portability and potential battery life this device has a lot going for it. Reading the amazon user reviews, the main gripes are a) One/both batteries not charging - fixed apparently by a subsequent bios update and b) It takes a long time to fully recharge both batteries - an overnight job. Not a brilliant deal but not bad either. Depends on your requirements.

Okay, you've got me convinced. Buying now! Thanks!
I'll need some additional storage, it seems. Do you think a simple Class 10 SDXC card would do the trick?

I can't see any mention on Argos of it being a refurb either?

Did you upgrade to Windows 10? Is your Linux partition Primary or Logical? I'm still wary of putting Linux onto my Lenovo tab 8 because a big Win 10 update last week wrote over the partition table on my dual boot netbook, took a while to recover it and reinstall Grub.
