I've got a SP3 and looking at doing the same... just so I've got universal compatibility with my gf's laptop etc.
The pro version for a surface 3 also will work with a 4 (little harder to find), I ended up with a belkin usb 3 dual video docking stand for windows 8 tablet, pretty long name!
from amazon last week, it cost me £61.73 on prime.

The surface pro dock (for 3) will work with an adaptor free from MS this one will not.
Currys did have stock of the pro 3 dock a couple of weeks ago for £99 all gone now.
