Beware of using the Poundland website, just tried some shopping and the 2 for £1 offers are being charged at £1 each on several items, overcharged me by £8 on a shop under £30!!!

Not sturdy at all, i mainly use mine for video games, controllers and loose cables from various gadgets. For a £1 they're great for those types of items, anything heavier you will more than likely snap the plastic.
I would also agree with the other HUKD users, these boxes stink.

ish. I bought about 50 of them a few years ago, they can stack maybe 5 high, beyond that they will crack. They are quite brittle, drop them and they will crack. Put heavy stuff (books) in them and they will crack.
They're well worth a quid but the £2.99 giant ones I bought at the same time from dunelm are still in perfect shape, whereas I think I've only got maybe half of the poundland ones left now.

Not very if you intend to use for childrens toys. They crack pretty easy and can be razor sharp, so only get them for cupboard/garage storage I would suggest.

Unsure if these are the ones I bought about 6 months ago. We have them for all sorts, . I have 3 just for kids study books and homework and they don't crack, I tend to stack them 3 high, lids still going strong. According to a sticker mine were made by Isher plastics. Don't know the capacity of them but dimensions are 37x25x18 so probably are about 14l.
If they have more of these I'm gonna be all over em like a rash.

I need these for in the garage.. & bigger ones.
Shame about the lids if its true, as I`d need to stack them quite high.
Still a good deal, heat added!

They still stack, because they have asymmetric indentations that act as ledges. They stack well empty, or with not much weight in them. Or you could get some concrete blocks and planks and make a set of shelves to put them on... which means not having to take six down to get at the one that you want..

You need to think of the lids as a free bonus extra - because, even if they are intact when you get them, they won't be for very long. Still, a quid for a 14l box without a lid isn't bad (Tesco used to do one. Apparently, sadly, no more).
I'd say that, if you are planning to hold more than a couple of kilos in them - don't bother. They're fine for keeping sewing, embroidery and dress making bits and pieces in, on a shelf. But not for filling with bits of old car on the garage floor..

I've used these for years. They used to be sold by the 99p shop. They are surprisingly sturdy and stack well.

Hopeless - but cheap. That's all that counts on HUKD!
Yes, they really stink: don't even think of putting food in them! probably made of recycled rubbish bags (really).

These are OK, I have several of them in the man cave that store all sorts. They hold enough, but the lids are really bad, and snap really easily.
They also smell a little bit chemical-y at first, so may want to give them a rinse!

We used to buy cheap storage boxes but they always end up breaking, then you can never seem to get replacements that match. You either end up with a mess of different boxes or replacing them all so that they stack neatly. Ended up buying decent Really Useful Boxes, they have lasted for ages and should you need more the same design is always available making them easy to stack.
Honestly cheap storage boxes are a false economy.

these are great for £1. much better than previous pound boxes. I can only imagine that people criticising them haven't actually bought any. I've bought about 20 over the last few weeks. great value for money.

I don't think they are very sturdy, but for £1, I will give it heat. It is not one of those plugged deals. Thank you, poster!

Might only be a plastic tub and £1 but the discount stores vary greatly in quality with these items. There is some complete junk out there, particularly the lids. Personally I steer towards Buyology (who seem to take great pride in having an enormous, sturdy and permanent range of containers) and Home Bargains who have a small, transient range but tend to only stock quality items. Well worth seeing in store first.

We have these at work to store the cigarettes and they are ****. All the lids are broke and don't shut properly, just rubbish. Save yourself the hassle and get a decently built one for a couple quid more

They've had these in for Eons.
I like em but 60% of em in the shop are knackered.
If you're prepared to accept that the lids are made out of tissue paper then fine. The boxes themselves are respectable.
