Yes, there are many steelbook deals around these days but every now and then a 'deal' is to be had because of exclusivity. Judging by previous releases from this source such as the last Captain America or Avengers: Age Of Ultron, this will be worth twice the money by the time it is released. Pre-order in place, you can always cancel if the vibe isn't good around it.
For me, the force is strong with this one...

Or have you fallen for the marketer's hype? Most people will not see any benefit from 4K, and definitely not 8K.
The reality is that TV manufacturers and content providers need to keep inventing stuff so they can up sell you. Televisions typically have a long life span, it's not a great business to be in unless they can convince you to pay for crap you don't need (3D anyone?) so you keep buying new ones.
There were advantages moving through 720p, 1080i, 1080p, DVD and Blu-ray. But we're at diminishing returns now.
I saw Star Wars in 1977 at 6 years old and The Force Awakens brought that magic back. I cannot recommend enough making the effort to see this at the cinema. I am going to see it again.
A wonderful and very emotional experience and a future "I saw that when it was originally released" moment.

This will end up in a landfill within 10 years on top of a million VHS tapes. You will be able to watch it in 4k streaming in less than a year and at some point that will move up to 8k. Why anyone would feel the need to hand over this kind of money for a 'collectable' dead format is beyond me.
I am not trolling, just trying to encourage people to spend their money more wisely.

I'm afraid that all the time someone has a blu ray player or a computer to back it up on this will not end up on a landfill the Dvd format is still going strong despite Blu ray so until smell-o-vision appears I think this is worth a punt.

Blu ray on a landfill? It has been around since 2006 and the majority of people are STILL on DVD. If anything 4k will struggle as people tend to not understand how resolutions work or what they mean.
I still to this day see people going nuts over a TV been flat and over 40 inches, even if it is a bog standard one.
1080p / bluray in the tv world will be around for quite a while yet.
Voted hot btw ;-)

What happens when people realise they dont want access to a stream and want something tangible
Personal dont get people paying £12 to download a movie when BLuray with digital copy is same price
Keep the digital copy, weatch the bluray and sell trade on
If its really good.. keep it

I have read all the comments pretty much showing a consensus that the quoted comment is wrong, but I thought I'd just add the point that doree people who want to manage their own libraries and not be beholden to a particular company for the continued viewing if films they have bought, there is currently no option OTHER than blu-ray. I have a large library of films I bought on Blinkbox before they decided to stop supporting my Samsung smart TV. Same with Amazon. If you want to own, as opposed to simply rent and stream, movies, 4K is pretty much irrelevant at the moment and blu-ray reigns supreme, especially since the recent changes to DRM laws in the UK meaning is now legal to rip from blu-ray and own a DRM-free copy of every film you have on blu-ray, which is the only way to have a proper media streaming library, and is likely to remain so for a long time.

With the hype and fan following that star wars has, this should sell out and be high in demand soon enough. Try to buy the original and new trilogy star wars steelbooks now... More than doubled the price.
