Was thinking of upgrading my htddw880, anyone know if the speakers I got with this will be compatible and good enough, if not any recommendations?

it would work with your speakers but is not much of an upgrade. wait, save a bit more and get an AV receiver with network capabilities so you can listen to internet radio and stream music. if you decide to buy this one add a Chromecast to it.

Great receivers imo (Sony), bought my first 5.1 in 2002, then an upgrade to a 7.1 in 2009 and still are both going strong after heavy usage. Will be upgrading to a Dolby Atmos compatible receiver once the prices start to drop more, though I am very tempted to pick this up for the low price!

I have this receiver and it's wonderful! Purchased knowing full well it's only 4K pass through (i.e. receiver is not HDCP 2.2 compliant and will not support copy-protected 4K video content, which possibly includes some future SKY 4K content... then you simply connect SKY Q to a compliant 4K TV, less neat but problem solved). The receiver's aptX Bluetooth in conjunction with my Xperia Z2 aptX Bluetooth streams fantastic sound (basically as high res Bluetooth as you can get!)... For the money, this receiver is a no-brainer :man:
