Sounds familiar. Took up the free tv deal with them at the start of the month, had an install date for the 12th of December, nobody turned up at all so I called sky and they couldn't even explain why no one turned up?! The earliest date they could then give me was in January. This date wasn't any good as I had already cancelled with Virgin so had no choice but to cancel with sky and stick with Virgin. Complete joke of a company!

Lots of us resent Sky's extortionate subscriptions because they expect non-football fans to subsidise the armchair fans who supported Man U in the early years of the PL, then changed to Chelsea & now are sporting Etihad Airline jerseys...
I have absolutely NO INTENTION of funding the multi-billions that Sky bids & pays to the clubs just to see the players & their agents get richer.
I mean you have teams who have squads worth half a billion £ yet they complain that their squads arent complete.
Whole thing is a huge scam!

Good luck! Ranting at someone in BT gets you nowhere; the only way to get a semi-competent response is to sign up and post on their forums or complain via twitter. It's ridiculous.
cheaperbythe12
18 Dec 15#64
That's the main reason I'm leaving. Recorded NFL last week and every 10 mins there's adverts. Also, major golf events such as the US Open have adverts every 15 minutes. which is ridiculous considering Sky's monthly sub costs (and I was on 50% discount with two month free on a 12 month contract).
Since moved to IPTV and wish I had done it sooner - stream sports in HD inc BT Sports at a fraction of the price (using a £40 android MXIII box).

I refuse to pay for Sky due to the huge amount of advertising... it is a joke, charge £75 per month for a TV package and cram it full of advertising.

Haha no! Though, I've just now received my final bill from Virgin and they are wanting £140 for me "terminating my contract early". Ive been with Virgin, Telewest, NTL, Cabletel through all it's incarnations for nearly 19 years and because I changed my package VERY slightly a few months ago, they're fining me. I'm beyond furious at this, and am now off to rant at someone on the phone! (I wanted to keep Virgin, but they don't have service in my new street - a city street in Glasgow!)

I'd be interested to know too... theres actually 2 new skyq boxes. The one that will be like tivo and then skyq silver which is 2tb and lets you record 4 and watch a 5th. Also like the look of the skyq mini (curious as to whether it will work as a non - subscription multi-room) and skyq wireless hub as it turns your skyq box into an additional hub.
No idea what top 20% equates to subscription-wise but we pay cerca £90 a month.

Good luck to anyone going for the installation. I have had the worst experience with them. My new house doesn't have Virgin so I had to take Sky. The installation should have happened on 28 November. The engineer (very strange man) said he couldnt do it and went away... I was profusely apologised to, but couldnt get another appt til 10 December. That man came but could only set up living room as he had no note of the box for my son's room and the fact that a mini dish was needed.... So yet another date arranged, this time for 16 December, yesterday. Nobody turned up at all and I spend three full hours on the phone to them to get it sorted out. No note of the appointment anywhere and yet another installation date arranged, this time for 22 December. I had to spend the full three hours battling with several people to get the 22 December date, the others wanted me to wait til new year.
I've never experienced such farcical and incompetent "service" in my life.

Be prepared for your first bill though, I took the same offer through MSE a few months ago and was prepared for a slightly higher first bill to cover slightly longer than a month as it usually is however your first bill will be at full price and then the second month you pay next to nothing as they credit it back
Yes you do get the offer and don't end up paying any more over the year but just be prepared for that first £70-80 bill

No caps on Sky Broadband Unlimited nor on Sky Fibre Unlimited, and no throttling either, truly unlimited. The capped services are great for users who don't do an awful lot, for the rest of us, unlimited is great

17 Dec 15#33
It seemed like a no brainer to add the broadband in too, but after reading the T&Cs it looks like they only have speeds of 17mb.
The £5 a month upgrade to fibre would have been worthwhile if there wasn't a useage cap of 25GB a month. That's potentially a handful of HD movies streamed before you've hit the cap.

Does it matter for most people? Unless you're paying the full price of the current top package and willing to pay more, you will be unlikely to be going for a SkyQ box.
Sky have not released actual pricing yet but just revealed that they expect it to be aimed at the top paying 20% of Sky users who are currently on the full package.
