Am I right in believing there is a slower and faster version of this card?

Yep, the Sandisk "Ultra" is the faster version and the Sandisk "Plus" (this one) is the slower version. Note that SSDs also tend to have better read/write speeds as capacity increases i.e. a 120gb ssd will be slower than a 240gb ssd.

Look at IOPS performance rather than sequential read/write performance.

How is this a great deal when 240GB are available for just above 40 pounds? And I find 120GB too small, even for a C drive.

Because its less and if you are using a network server or spinning iron for your data - 120Gb is more than enough for most OS + Application set ups. Just 'cos the deal doesn't suit you doesn't not make it a good deal. Having said that you might want to add on stuff to get free delivery.

Decent price for this size of SSD although beware of the lower write speeds vs Samsung,OCZ etc - still alot faster than a standard SATA III HDD but only 180mb/ps write vs 500mb/ps write

Got one of these a few months back at similar price, and installed in a laptop with an upgrade to windows 10. It now boots up, and is useable within a minute.
Have sent the link to my dad, who wants one for me to upgrade his desktop PC to a SSD drive, also.
