My Crystal Diskmark using USB 3, off a TeckNet hub (rather than straight from laptop USB3.0), it means that this Samsung Fit is very good for use for small files too, compare to some which runs at snail speed like 0.009MB/s (though very fast for large files). More importantly it is still warm after benchmark (rather than 60 deg plus hot).

Many thanks for doing that. It certainly looks like the Samsung has the edge over the Sandisk.

Kudos for your diagnostic work. What sort of numbers are you seeing now? I would be interested to know how it compares with the Sandisk before any future purchase.

Just as an update.
Using the Microsoft tools to browse the usb stack and connected devices the device was indeed connected as usb 2.1. In the end needed a driver update the intel chipset to resolve but significantly faster for file reads and not too shabby for writes.
Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction .

Thanks for that, from the branding over each port I only have usb3 ports and other devices perform well. Perhaps its running in usb2 mode.. Will investigate

I would be interested to see other peoples performance scores for this drive or the SanDisk, mine falls well short of the claimed upto 130MB/s
the only plus side if you can call it that is that during my initial use it does not seem to be any warmer than the chassis of this laptop

I think you used a USB2.0 port, either that or the drive is terrible. These are my results for a Sandisk 64GB Ultra fit.
Using USB2.0 Port

Got mine the other day, seems to be working great. One thing though, I tried to put something of 4gb on it but it didnt let me on windows and gave me an error. Found out you need to format it and change the byte processing rate or something.
Also cos its quite small it could easily get lost, its got a hole for a keyring/string so might be worth putting one of them on it.

There are comparisson reviews on amazon u.s...and it seems speed wise both are pretty much the same.
also they are almost identical in size and the amount that sticks our is the same too.however Samsung doesn't get hot like Sandisk.

According to reviews on Amazon U.S, no.they don't get nearly as hot as the Sandisk.

Theres a few reviews on Amazon US, stating the speeds are pretty evenly matched, and that it doesnt get superhot.. so it looks good.

Use code ELF10 to save a further 10%
There's a further potential 3% saving by going via Quidco

as someone else mentioned, the code doesn't work. google suggests the code is only for certain christmas discounted items and not for everything

i think thats gotta be a yes looking at the size of it to dissipate the heat ... my sandisk one is literally too hot to handle - cant be good for its long term life

that's what i'd like to know. also the speed compared to the sandisk ones
i've got one of the 128gb sandisk ones at the moment and ordered another the other day but haven't tried it yet. i've had the 64gb ones working fine for a year or longer and before that the 32gb ones and had one or two 16gb ones and i never noticed any heat issues or had any problems with them, so i'm not sure why the 128gb ones would have heat issues if the other models didn't
i'm going to get one of these and see what it's like

I looked at this, having recently bought an all metal 3.0 Integral Fusion one of the same capacity from my memory, albeit at £33ish. It matched my new "gold" Asus Zenbook ultrabook that I bought due to a post on here, and this looked as though it would be an even more flush fit.
Don't like the idea of it getting hot though...
