Just seen this while browsing. Don't know if it's any good or not. The Ultimate Edition is down from 19.99 to £6.49 too.

It's RR as you know it but gimped. 30FPS (even the PSP ones were 60FPS), lack of courses, lack of cars, and no proper single player campaign (remember the ace mission-like setup of the PSP ones? Gone). It's USP is the worldwide team vs racing thing, where you and many around the world choose a racing company and win points for your team. Thing is, that mode is borked since a) one company is way ahead of every other, and b) the online activity back in 2013 was already very small so I doubt it has improved since then. Very, very disappointed in RR Vita, and I bought it at the reduced price (it regularly drops to this price). And I am speaking about the Ultimate version. You get even less with the standard one. You're better using those same few quid to buy Ridge Racers (PSP). You can play it on your Vita and it is superior in every way (60FPS, lots of tracks, cars, missions).

Anyone know if it's worth this price? I understand a lot of the ratings were based on the £20 rrp. I'm tempted I just don't wana waste precious PSN credit on it!

Can't really say to be honest as I'm not really a Ridge Racer fan. I do hear however that the definitive Ridge Racer experience is still R4 after all these years.

I got it with my Vita back at launch. IIRC I spent a fair bit of time playing it back then, granted it's limited in terms of courses and cars etc, but it held my attention for quite some time. Online was fun. I sold that Vita and the physical copy of RR went with it.
I purchased another Vita last November and picked RR up in one of the sales shortly after. The game is dead now, online play is non existent and I genuinely think I have played it maybe twice since I purchased it digitally. If you like a bit of RR and your intrigued I'd probably suggest purchasing it, but only if you value your gaming time at £3.99 an hour

Eh, it is hard to choose. R4 has the best mood (art, music) and RRV has the best driving mechanics. Even though Ridge Racers (PSP) changed the racing mechanics (boosting, etc) it is chock full of content and ticks every other box just right.
I'm a massive RR fan but there was little to enjoy in this. Feels more like the iPhone game.
The best portable RR you're going to find is Ridge Racer 2 on the PSP - which is a prettied up compilation of every Ridge Racer track from RR1 to 5 (including the never converted arcade game Rave Racer).

Thanks for letting me know about Ridge Racer 2 on PSP. That'll be something I'll have to get eventually on my Vita...
EDIT: and it's not on the PSN store. Which sucks...

The first Ridge Racer on PSP is loads of fun too.

Yeah, just Ridge Racer PSP. Get that one. It is exactly the same as Ridge Racer 2 PSP except RR2 PSP has nine more tracks. Indeed, RR2 PSP is more of an update than a true sequel.

Would not care if it was £0 would not recommend a poor variant of RR

Edit: scratch that! Ridge Racer PSP also seems to have a pretty cool intro - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxGRSgrRd5A
