Haven't really saw this for less than around £15, so I thought this was great for £7.99+VAT and free delivery from RS Supplies.
Pi Noir also cheap @ £9.89 (£8.24+VAT and free delivery)

I'm thinking doorbell to email notification, maybe household monitoring, etc, type projects.

Wouldn't the pi noir be better for cctv?

Maybe - but that has slightly wrong colours in daytime, and only a little bit better low light
(It isn't an IR camera)

It's a good camera during the day, but even if it's cloudy the image falls apart, they really need to bring out a new one. Security Camera wise the xiaomi xiaoyi ant is a better camera for £20 with wifi and IR night lights, can also be used as an intercom.

I have the Xiaomi and and cannot recommend it. They have it locked down so that it can be used only with their buggy app which is largely in Chinese. They have also disabled RTSP which kind of misses the whole point of an IP camera. A Russian forum is working on a hack for the 2.1 hardware version but it's far from done.

No mate - the Pi Zero doesn't have the Camera input. It also doesn't have the video out for the official Pi LCD display.

Saw this a few days ago - great deal.
Pity the new pi Zero doesn't have the connector for it though - one of the things they took off to save money

What's the simplest way to set this up as a security cam? Motion Pie?
I have it saving to a mounted share to a 32gb USB stick plugged into my router Asus RT68U. Although you could just save to the default onboard Micro SD card. I've had it configured to send me a email each time it detected movement, but turned this off as the front of my house is busy (cul-de-sac) and squirrels / cats / birds.
It's pretty flawless. Easy to setup via web interface and I've had it running over a few month without even a reboot.

I use Motion Pie on 2 Pi's (one with this camera module, one with Pi NoIR) to stream to Surevillance Station on my Synology NAS. Motion Pie is simple to set up and I find it really reliable.
If you like to tinker it's great fun. I also added a 16G SD card and just have a cron job to remove any videos that are >30 days old. So have a rolling 30 days worth of footage.
HTH.

Could you possibly point me to a guide on how to set this up please?

Bargain price, so I splashed out 99p on a stand for it too. Another item for my lads xmas - cheers OP.
Yes, I installed Raspbian. Then configured my Wireless network and installed camera software.
I then remotely installed PiKrellCam from my laptop using Putty (telnet).
My camera is currently sat on an upstairs windowsill with the module blue tacked to the window. Crude, but it was only meant as a test (project). If your going to do this, I'd recommend building a case for the module out of an old SD card case.
Do you need to install Raspbian on the SD card as a starting point?

I was thinking about monitoring with motion sensor that shoots footage only if there is movement in a room, which will be uploaded to the cloud server. just have to figure out how to do it hehe.
