Rumor seen on NeoGaf is that the yearly subscription maybe reduced from 49.99eur to 33.33eur on the 6th of Dec. Hopefully that means a reduced UK price too.

They will have to come up with some sort of reduction as paying £13 more per year than Xbox live which us a far superior service is ridiculous.

Yea, once purchased they will email you a code. Go onto the Playstation store on the ps4 and go to redeem code, doing it this way saves a fortune over paying direct to sony

It will work with all the latest PlayStation hardware as long you use the same account when logged into the devices, it's a bargain if you have a ps3 and a vita as well.

That's correct - you need a PS+ subscription to play games online.
Please note that you won't receive this code in a box like if you bought it in a store, so won't really be able to wrap it up, unless you print the code out and put it in a Xmas card or something. (Not a bad idea, actually.)
However, the code in a store like Game would be £39.99, so you're saving almost 20% by getting it this way.
