Because you technically need a license to sell a device with the Google play store that costs a lot. Chinese tablets can get away with it.

I'll delete this deal and check tomorrow. We are currently re flashing returns with software that has google play. Maybe that note on the site is old and hadn't been changed. But I'll check tomorrow and repost

I'm missing something here. Are you from Novatech?

Have had my fair share of cheap and cheerful Chinese tablets, got usage out of them at the time agreed, but have learnt to pay that wee bit extra and get something decent that lands up in the bin.
Novatech is local to me and is one of my main suppliers for anything I need PC wise. I'd be reluctant to buy this as it's re-branded obviously, but being Novatech, they may have researched the product well enough to consider selling it, lack of PlayStore reminds me of the cheapo ones I had in the past as I also had to d/l and install that on my own ... For the money, and somewhat cheaper, I'd recommend something like a Lenovo range ... refurb from Argos outlet or similar. We've now got 3x 8" and 2x 10" Lenovo tabs... battery life is phenomenal in comparison to the stuff we had before. They're stable, run everything we've thrown at it.

Listen to the man, he's talking sense. These generic cheapo tablets are ten a penny and all come with compromises. If not in the design then it's usually lack of support and future upgrades.

Just get something more supported.. This isn't worth the effort

Would it be possible to install Cyanogen mod on this tablet? I don't really care about Google Play but I'm a bit suspicious of Chinese ROMs, as they are rumoured to be infected with malware.

From what I gather its a custom rom by novatech, whether or not that was made in China I do not know. Ill ask tomorrow, I know someone who works there

What is this a rebadge of?

It's a rebadged Pipo M6 Max. I installed a custom rom when I bought this over a year ago. 4:3 will put some off but the screen res is good. This is reasonable value IMHO.

Just install amazon app store from apk

That doesn't work - you need google services which is specific to the tablet with the correct DPI settings etc.

Would a custom rom flash still work though?
I thought people chose android because of the customisation of the roms.

I bought it 2 years ago at 169 I think and after installed a game and couple of apps it started hanging and needed wiping to be able to use again. spend extra few quids and buy a good brand as not worth even at this price
