Got mine in January 2015. Proving reliable but it is slower than some other (more expensive) USB 3.0 memory sticks. I use mine for storing movies and tv shows and it does a grand job. Prices usually vary around the £18.99 - £23 mark so two for £32 is a bargain.

The write speed is shown as 14MBs, which is abysmal if true.
Occasionally people will pop in one of these threads saying it's faster, but then never post again when asked to run a quick benchmark so we can see the true value.

So would anyone who has one of these drives kindly run CrystalDiskMark on it so we could get a real world value?

Goodness me. Thats one of the worst modern drives I've ever seen.

It's one of the reasons I'm so hesitant to believe the comments on here when people say they own one and they're faster: They never post evidence and never reply again.

Seen a lot worse to be fair, I've got branded drives from verbatim and transcend with much slower write speeds from 5-12MB/s and that's USB3.0 speeds.
Spend an extra tenner if you really need the speed, buy depending on your particular use case. I'll post up some figures when mine is delivered.

I suggest you go and look at previous postings for this chip,in at least a couple of my replies to the threads, I've posted the figures, but as I'm away from home for 3 days, and relying on my 'fast' red chip for work, I can't go and wipe it to get the figures for you.

I have absolutely no reason to question the reliability, because my 'slow' chip has worked reliably for at least 6 months, it's always cold to the touch and therefore I suspect less likely to fail. My 'fast' red chip does run warm, but nowhere near the temperature my Grixx 128GB chip hits, yet both the red and the Grixx are reliable - both these have been through numerous x-ray scanners, which I guess might destroy lower quality chips. I suspect the only risks are down to how you handle them, the plastic is not the best quality, personally I wouldn't risk putting them in with my keys.

The only thing I do know, I bought my 'fast' chip off Ebay, though the description at the time referred to the slower speeds, I have no idea whether they've got a big pile of old ones they're selling off cheap, via this offer, or whether this is going to be the fast chips.

I have 2 120GB MyMemory Red pens drives, both reliable. Neither work in my router, but otherwise no issues (would love to hear of any ideas as to why), whilst 2 different (Grixx 128GB USB3 and SanDisc Cruzer 128GB USB2) work perfectly fine in the router. I use the latter 2 for network storage, but I use the MyMemory drives in my smart TV for recording TV and for playing back big big files and storing photos.

USB3 spees: Speeds generally on the Grixx pen are faster, but its much of a muchness. All the pens seen really quick initially, but crawl towards the end and vary considerably inbetween based of file size, number of files, wind direction and remaining space. Writing over my home network I'm getting 2-6MB/s (not down to the pen), In my PC I've seen 40Mb/s, but rarely, and would say 10-20MB/s is about normal and yes that's not amazing.

To confirm, that is with all these "USB 3.0" pens. The Cruzer is USB 2 and seriously sh!+.....4MB/s at best writing. So I have data on it (south park, archer, futurama) which is permanent. Even if you consider it to be behaving like a quick USB 2 pendrive, I would recommend buying USB 3 format just to avoid having an awful USB 2 one like the Cruzer. 15MB/s over 2MB/s is a serious difference when writing 10GB.

128Gb for 17 quid means that you can't complain that much about speeds.

I've used my slower chip on my portable wifi router, from HooToo, it needs to be attached via a usb2 extension lead, I used the sort you get from Logitech often supplied with wireless mice, works a treat, my Grixx always worked fine without. Might not solve your problem but worth a try if you have a lead lying around.

I've used a USB (non-powered) hub without success, don't think I tried a cable. Have several Logitech cables... will try your idea out - Thanks for replying. My Grixx is the best pen drive I have no problems with that one. I've seen the comments here about slow chips etc.... I have to plead ignorance to what a chip is?!

My first of the two I ordered has arrived, currently testing with h2testw, at around 5% complete it's showing 86MB/s so appears to be the new faster chips, a bargain at £16, the speed will drop but from experience, not so much that it would drop to an average of 20.

Will have to do more test, seems a bit dubious at the moment.

UPDATE: copied some 1gb videos across to it and it seriously peaks at 80MB/s. This is my fast USB3.0 disk to date, should have brought 2.

Got to say this punt was worth the results.

It appears I was correct, not that I doubted myself since I do have a fast and slow version of the red chip, both my new two have tested this fast, so definitely a bargain at £16 each.

Definitely not a dubious result, in use these do feel seriously fast, the only time I've had anything less than optimum performance, when transferring 1000s of small files.

I brought one the other day really poor speed 5gbps total pants

OK, used ATTO on the 2 I purchased and my results are not as good as shown above but not too bad.
Both USB Pens had the following:
Read Speed was a little over 140 MBs
Write speed was a fraction over 60MBs

These probably use binned chips from manufacturers so they're cheaper, but results may vary.
