Just a follow up, my bank credit charge for Euros was about £6 for this transactionm a Sainsburys credit card with 2.75% conversion charge.

My bill hasn't come yet but I'll update when it does. I also went for paying in Euros

Excellent, I'm quite impressed with mine, 1080p video isn't bad at all, pictures seem ok, call quality seems good, speed of device is certainly faster than the Moto G 2nd gen.

Mine arrived today. I was a cheapskate and bought an "almost new" return, to be honest I'm glad I did as the 40 euros saved was awesome and I can't see any issues with either the packaging or the phone
I was using a doogee x5 pro so this is a large step up from that in regards camera and screen and just about everything else too. I'm very pleased so far

Well I finally got a chance to play around with this and thought I'd post a few comments on this vs a Moto G 2nd gen dual SIM and a 1st gen Moto G.
This Moto X Play has all the frequencies needed for the UK, I've had 4G on Vodafone and EE working and all other UK 4G (and 3G/2G) bands are covered (O2 4G and Voda 4G is often not catered for on many non UK phones so check)
Dual SIM is like the Moto G 2nd Gen: either SIM can do voice and data, but only one of the SIMs can do Data at any given time and the other SIM will revert to 2G so bear in mind if using a Three sim, it must be used as Data/Voice otherwise it won't work at all in 2G voice only mode. Both SIMs are dual standby so both are active and ready to receive a call, when you make a call initially you're asked which SIM to call out from then it can remember for future calls. I had to cut down a micro SIM to fit this nano sim card reader, it was a tight fit as it has to fit into a little tray along with the other SIM and the micro SD card.
Call audio quality is much nicer sounding than my Moto G 2nd gen, that was never very good at calls and always had weird scratchy noises (which I believe was poor shielding between the 2 cellular radio modules)
Moto X Play has a mono loudspeaker but it's better soundng than my Moto G 2nd gen stereo speakers (in call quality at least)
Phone reception is good, possibly slightly more sensitive than the Moto G 2nd gen. Screen is an upgrade from Moto G, only slightly bigger handset but clearer, sharper and nicer.
Overall, if you quite fancy upgrading your dual SIM moto G 2nd generation then I think you'll be pleased with this.

Will be interested in whether it powers on at United Kingdom as the country of use as mine did, despite being a Euro/French model.

Sounds like they sent you one of the returns thinking you won't ship it back as you're in the UK. mine is due to arrive on the 30th I'll let you know how mine looks though I did buy a returns to save forty euros

You may be right although the contents inside the box was all sealed and the phone didn't appear to have been used but I think it had been fairly carefully opened, turned on then reboxed and the seal stuck down again (not sure why though)
Phone is good though, performance is better than the Moto G 2nd gen, only slightly bigger and screen is much nicer on the eyes. I see on Amazon UK there's a seller from Republic of Ireland selling the dual sim for about £240 inc delivery.

Well mine has turned up, am a little concerned that the sticky selotape seal was loose and the edge of the box grubby, I'm pretty sure someone has been inside although all looks ok.... phone would not boot up, plugged in charger and it's at 0% so after 10 mins on charger it came into life and booted up.... I think someone turned it on then reboxed it. Anyway, it's now at the welcome to Google screen so fingers are crossed. I'm thinking this has been opened but not used, other than being unsealed (with some care) and powered on then reboxed.
Curiously for a phone ordered from Amazon France, that came with French documentation, that came from Madrid warehouse, it's default location at first bootup is United Kingdom  - I wonder if that's usual for all Euro Moto X Plays?

I see mine is being sent from Madrid even though I ordered from France.... let's see if it turns up tomorrow as planned.

YES along with 2 sim slots too  So you can have all three!! I took the plunge and ordered just now after pondering delivery for a few days (travelling over xmas)

Gen 1 doesn't, but 4G does. Gen 2 yes, I think. Gen 3 no again.
It is useful for VR and photospheres. Also speeds up rotation, but is not essential.
Most importantly: it just isn't a top phone without.

Apart from google cardboard/vr, I genuinely have no idea what the point is, and certainly have never used it. But I want one just in case. However I've got an X Play anyway and I'll live!

The lack of a gyroscope annoys me. Otherwise a decent phone, even is Lenovo not as quick with the updates as Google used to be.

And me too though I've never ever used it in my previous phones, so I don't know why!

What is it needed for and does the Moto G 1st/2nd gen have one? (if not, then it won't affect me as I've not needed it so far!)

Apparently and incredibly annoyingly, the Moto X Play flip case does not auto switch on the screen (incredible oversight there) - but having dropped my 2nd Gen Moto G several times onto tarmac and always hitting the corner, which the flip case offers no protection from, and seeing the 1mm gap between mashed up corner plastic and the glass and I know I've been lucky twice, gorilla glass is tought but will likely shatter when shock applied to the edges, so I tried to make mine bounce proof and protect the screen and the edges without adding too much bulk.
I agree though, flip cases make it more fiddly to use, especially the rear camera but horses for courses like you say.

Mine should arrive Tuesday, I've ordered a Moto flip case at £18.50 from Amazon UK and an SLine TPU case for £2 - with my Moto G I have the official flip case for screen protection and an SLine tpu for rear/side/corner protection - by slightly cutting the left edge off the S Line case it fits along with the Moto Flip cover (The official flip case replaces the standard back cover and thus does not add any additional bulk) and so allows a rubber case to be fitted, once you've cut the left edge off it, to allow the hinge to work, add some double sided tape to keep it all together and voila, or wallah as idiots would say.
Best protection I can make for my often dropped/knocked work phone and not any bulkier than an S Line case and a 2mm flip cover. Sounds like a bodge, works like a dream.

The flip cases are quite stylish and the auto-on's a nice feature but actually I don't see much reason to cover the screen if it has gorilla glass 3. I like a slim line case that is a mm or so higher than the screen and the screen ready for me without flipping, I can't really get on with the flap flapping around while you're using the phone. Different strokes for different folks and all that

I bit recently on the black Friday Amazon deal. Really good phone and impressed with the screen quality despite not being quad HD. It does not feel too big in your hand & once you used to a large screen you wont go back to anything smaller. The battery lasts a long time too.
Well worth getting.

Well I went and did it, easy to buy on Amazon.fr - just used Chrome translate, signed in as my usual UK Amazon account and bought it easily. There didn't seem to be a free delivery option but delivery was either 5 euros or 11euro for fastest delivery. Now to find a decent case.
I got this to replace my Moto G 2nd Gen Dual Sim that although works quite well, does sometimes struggle a little bit performance wise, I use mine for work SIM and home SIM so it gets a fair use and hope this slightly upgraded Moto X Play will be a better work tool.

I can really recommend the tudia cases - have one on my 2nd gen Moto G, and bought a new one for my single sim X Play that I'm getting at Xmas.

Can I ask did you actually pay amazon in sterling or euros and what was the total including shipping ?

In the end I chose to pay in euro's as I'd read that Amazon's sterling payment option could cost more than what my credit card charges. I paid for expedited delivery (fastest delivery was Tues 22nd) for about 11 euro's or for 5 euros they'd deliver 23/24th Dec.

Yes, I wonder how I'll cope with the bigger screen, I already find my 5" Moto G is a bit tricky one handed, especially as I have the official flip case. But I use mine for work a lot so hope this will be just that bit better for emails, web, documents plus I hope call quality will sound better than my dual SIM Moto G which has never been great - it has annoying background hiss/pops/electrical noises when in a call, I'm sure it's the dual sim facility that is causing this, no other phone I've had has been like that... I hope this Moto X Play dual sim is better.

I'm almost ready to hit the buy button, looks very tempting and around the same price as the UK single sim version.
There is a 50Euro cashback but I think that only those in France can apply, unless someone else knows different?
