Just been into my local Staples, didn't buy myself but thought someone else might want.
They're selling off their display Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3 i5.
Surface 3 64gb with red keyboard and stylus is £281.48
Surface Pro 3 i5 128gb with black keyboard and stylus £594.97
Asked and they come with boxes and 1 year warranty. They said its because they're stop selling the models but stores can only sell displays once new stock is gone.
Also had Ipad Air 2 new boxed for £328.80..
This was Fareham store

I have a Surface 3 128gb with 4gb RAM and its seriously the best and most useful tablet ever, Ive had iPad (wife still has a mini) and Android but this is leagues ahead. Not sure how much slower a 2gb one would be than the 4gb.
Also with the dock which can be had for £70 from Curry's its a nice low power desktop replacement and you can work across 2 screens.
At this price its a bargin

I have the 64gb 2gb ram model. I can not believe how good it is. If I would have realised just how good it was I would have paid more for a higher spec one. That been said this is perfect for everyday computing. I don't play games or do anything taxing on it. I won't ever go back to a traditional laptop.

Can I just ask - yours is the Surface 3 and not the Surface Pro 3? Thinking of getting a surface (have an iPad air and a laptop I use for work) but my personal laptop is getting a little long in the tooth and my own desktop is playing up - never used for games, only internet browsing, watching the occasional movie and office tasks - would a Pro with a docking station be up to the job, would you think?
Thanks.

You are covered by 28 days faulty return policy but be careful with this one as these are demos only. on the boxes next to serial number it says 'demo' we had 1 returned that another store sold and it would not install any apps and some other issue. Fault was confirmed by MS. Cant give more details as I did not deal with the return. Cant say for 100% all displays will have this fault but if its labeled a demo on the box I'd be careful. Also ask them to use the surface relevant sku found on web and then ask them to scan the box, its a different sku and price...

Great prices, hot.
If it isn't holding a charge, you should be able to claim under the 1-year warranty.
Modern lithium ion batteries are designed so a laptop can run off mains power without unduly affecting future battery performance. Opinions vary but some argue that it is better to have it plugged in when using the device if the battery is 100% because it will bypass charging the battery (except for a slight trickle charge) and go straight to the components. Batteries only have so many charge cycles - the real killers are regularly topping the battery (using up the cycles) and sustained high temperatures in general. Sort of makes sense that many Surface 3 owners will keep their devices attached to the mains in the home/office and microsoft will allow for that in the design.

Who would buy a display model at this price??
Had lots of grubby hands, been on 24/7, battery constantly at 100%.

I'm sure you take anti bac wipes when you go shopping as there's 1000s more germs on shopping trollies or a cash point pin pad lol
To answer your question you just wipe it done and as for the battery you have a year warranty so your with going to get a brand new one from the shop or Microsoft.. Most people use such devices on charge anyway. As for the price its half price just because its been on display for a few months max.. No different to buying a used one.. I think half price is amazing
