I have this exact model and a Macbook Pro 13" Retina. That's my main computer; this is my secondary device. I replaced my iPad Air 2 for this as I kept hitting walls with what I could do with it.
I absolutely love the Surface 3 but people are forgetting it's aimed at the tablet market. This is priced and sold as an alternative to an iPad Air or Nexus 9; for more power, you get the Pro 3 or 4. Yes, it can do PC-stuff (way, way more than an iOS or Android device) but you're not meant to be editing 4k video in Adobe Premiere CC or playing Arkham Knight on this thing. It's a bit like a dog riding a bicycle - it sure ain't pretty but it's a miracle it can be done at all!
The Atom Z-series processor in this is more than capable and the thing feels just as nippy (but far more full-featured) as my iPad Air 2 did. I'm not a gamer, but anything from the Windows Store will run splendidly - just like games from the App Store or Play Store would on iOS or Android. Again, judge it based on its market positioning.
I don't know why Intel doesn't just drop the Atom name, to be honest, as these are nothing like the woeful processors in netbooks of old.
I use this for all the usual - Word, Excel, YouTube, Netflix, NOW TV, Spotify etc plus Drawboard PDF for markup with the pen. It's great. I even run Photoshop CS6 (light photo editing, 6-10 layers usually) and Dragon Naturally Speaking for dictation. All work flawlessly.
Be realistic about this device's capabilities and you'll love it. Expect a full-blown, video editing and gaming rig and you'll be disappointed - that's why there's a Pro version. Horses for courses.

I get excited every time I see these pop up, thinking it's the Pro. I'm waiting on an attractive enough deal on a Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4 or Macbook Pro to pull the trigger.

I'm tempted to say so. For pure productivity Windows will beat iOS any day even with the Office apps you can get on iOS. Plus it's got a USB 3.0 port (and you can use an OTG cable to create another full sized port or use a USB hub) with micro SD slot so no shortage of expansion options

Anyone got one of these?
How is it for playing games?
Or do you need the Pro?

This will run indie games only, you will struggle with anything else. Civ 5 runs on the lowest settings, just. Battery takes a massive hit also. On a recent plane trip I hooked up an xbox contoller and was playing hotline miami

Tempted in buying this. Bought an ipad pro as a present but this is surely a better option

makes me laugh how the black Friday John Lewis deal was more expensive and lacked the type cover but got 691 degrees

I know lol. I've learned to not bother questioning the logic. I bought one from John Lewis, then saw that Currys had 10% TCB, so bought one there and bought this one from Very this morning, so will be returning the other 2

Very isn't a preferred retailer on HUKD, that's why Amazon deals are always considered better

Just ordered one and scrapped the iPad Pro order. This will be much better for my wife who loves the freedom of windows but also uses itunes. Christmas about sorted and in November lol

Bit of a sorry excuse tbh. I've used Very for years and only ever had 1 problem with them. Added to the fact I just got 12 months interest free on this. When Apple do interest free promotions, everyone goes mad for them .... each to their own I guess
