Really depends on the apps you use, personally the one one I'm missing is Sonos. The W10 universal apps seems to be arriving daily.
Not sure if this is available on iOS but if you have an android phone, try this app from MS, it will analyse your apps and make suggestions for 1st or 3rd party apps:
I've been Droid for about 5 years now, but I got bored of the same ol' OS and the performance over time is misery, by contrast I'm enjoying the fresh approach of WP, even without every app being available - I don't play games so anything lacking an app I use a responsive website for.

unfortunately its still pretty dire. Gotta improve though.
Phone is nice though (I have the xl) but there are OS / Software niggles
Oh right, missed that on the specs. Ah well. :smirk:

Medoman, universal app strategy will address your concerns I think.
There isn't a company out there that isn't interested in making an app for an OS consumed by a billion people 18 months from now (W10).
They've got 20-25% of the enterprise sector, they just need to build out consumer offerings and stay relevant (unlike BB), W10 and the one-OS model should assist.
Coming the other way to you, but Android is dull, enterprise features are crap, maleware infections headline every month (which continually scare our business from the OS, KNOX or otherwise). Oh and your shiny S6 will slow down horribly within 6 months, my S5 runs like a dog now :disappointed:

Agreed but apparently Snapchat said a while ago that they wouldn't develop an app for windows mobile just because they didn't want their app on a Microsoft platform. Talk about losing out on consumers and not being bothered.

Good price, though few months ago I opted for the 830 over the 930 because of the 128GB micro sd availability. I see this is 32GB as was my 920.

I've never had an Android, just iPhone or WP, and just WP's now. Like you, I don't play games and if there isn't an app, like my bank doesn't have one, then I use their website, like you. Easy!

Still waiting for Microsoft to sort the speaker phone issue out on the 930.
Works fine with Cortana but try speaking when you make a phone call or using what's app then you have a issue, this all happened from the last update.

I've currently got a Lumia 925. I would like to upgrade but am not sure which one to choose between the Lumia 1520, 930 or 950. I'm tempted by the 1520 due to the battery and screen size but it is a few years old now even though the specs are amazing.

If you are buying a new phone then I would probably opt for the latest one that you could afford, especially as newer devices will have less problems with the OS. The Lumia 950 XL runs Windows 10 - Win 10 has yet to role out to older devices and even then will need to be adjusted for older handsets thus potentially resulting in unforeseen future issues. It has a beautiful large display (I have one myself) and it lasts me a day, plus the battery charges very quickly so it's quick to top up. If you buy now you will still be able to take advantage of a free Microsoft Display Dock that you can use Continuum with (alternatively flog it off to offset the cost price).
PS I upgraded from a Lumia 1020 and am loving the incredible display, although I feel the camera is not as good as the 1020 but I'm still getting used to the settings

Nokia never sold Here maps to Microsoft. Nokia have recently sold Here to BMW, Audi and Daimler so it is likely it has a future, unlike, unfortunately MS would appear with Mobile phones, given the sorry state of things. MS haven't really done much so far and they can't even make the 950 with two years newer technology quicker than the old 930 designed for different software 930 v 950
As an owner of the 800, 920 and then 1020 (the latter I am still more than happy with), the lack of any real progress with MS is very disappointing and is showing with quarter after quarter of losing market share, which, alas, will likely continue in 2016.
If you like the Lumia line and windows phone, and dabble with a well known auction site, then the 830 or 930 represent excellent value.

It's still there but it's branded Microsoft Maps, the data is still supported in the same manner.
I think MS sold 'Here' as a brand back to Nokia.

I'm tempted... but jumping ship to android is getting ever more tempting. I've been on the OS since wp7, and really love the interface, seems leaps and bounds better than ios or android. The completely customisable live tiles on the homescreen are much more appealing. Plus, as a frequent world traveller, pinning your hotel to the homepage and getting either walking directions or public transport options with 1-2 taps is fantastic, and the translator and maps app works offline too.
Problem is the app gap... and microsoft's strategy. They need to get this phone in as many hands as possible to expand the OS, but in the US it's exclusive to one carrier, and as a less popular product, it just isn't priced competitively enough to lure people from IOS or android. All that leaves is the current WP users who may like myself, feel rather let down and that microsoft don't really care about mobiles anymore. No one will convert from IOs or android to WP, and loyalists like myself will eventually leave to a more supported environment; thus a fantastic UI and OS will be killed off from the mobile environment. There arent even official apps for tinder, snapchat or google services, and often smaller indie apps will never be ported to WP. Unless microsoft throw themselves fully into it, with good marketing and competitive pricing (probably as a loss-leader) then this great OS will die.If the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active version was available in the UK I'd almost certainly move to it.

Shame the here maps and apps are gone. Loved these on my old Nokia 925. I have the 950 for a week now and it's a good phone but so many apps missing. Also the unit does get quite hot under heavy emailing and browsing. Camera isn't bad either. Certainly a good price. Trying to hunt down the docking station for it as well. Shame they missed out the wireless charging and yet another charger cable to carry around as it is USB C now.

Sadly not yet, it was in private beta since Feb under the guise of "Phish Alpha" but I've no clue how that finished up. With my optimistic head on I'd like to think they were developing a W10 universal app that spanned phone, tablet and PC.
Until then I'm using 'Chirp' otherwise 'Phonos' is the popular paid app, £1.50ish.
