The METAL GEAR SOLID HD Collection will comprise HD remastered versions of METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SONS OF LIBERTY, METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER, and METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER. It will mark the first time these legendary titles have been released for these formats, and will act as a stunning introduction to one of the most enduring video game series of all time.
METAL GEAR mastermind and series creator Hideo Kojima is overseeing the updates for each title. The METAL GEAR SOLID HD Collection will be released on Blu-Ray disc for PlayStation 3 and across two DVDs for Xbox 360. In addition to the enhanced, high-definition visuals, all titles in the collection will support trophies and achievements, marking another first in the series!
METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER
opens the set, with series hero Snake entering a Soviet jungle where intelligence reports a vital scientist is being held captive. Set in the 60s of the Cold War, SNAKE EATER sees Snake using his stealth abilities in a whole new locale – under the cover of the jungle foliage where various camo fatigues can be used to sneak into areas undiscovered. The riveting plot then reveals a familiar face from Snake’s past at its centre.
METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER
takes place a decade later and details the operations of Big Boss in Costa Rica. The year is 1974, and Costa Rica has been overrun by an organization of highly-trained mercenaries. Working with a squad of neutral troops, Snake soon uncovers a CIA plot, and becomes embroiled in a mission to thwart a nuclear threat.
METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SONS OF LIBERTY
Solid Snake and Otacon receive intel that a new kind of METAL GEAR vehicle is being transported across the Hudson River. Snake infiltrates the tanker, which is then seized by a group of Russian mercenaries lead by Revolver Ocelot. Two years pass, and a new terrorist faction calling themselves The Sons of Liberty have taken over the Big Shell base. New Fox Hound operative, Raiden, is sent to investigate.

Isn't £14 really expensive for this collection?

Three of the best games of all time remastered at 720P/60fps, full widescreen, DTS Surround Sound and Trophy support. And only £4.66 per game. One of the biggest bargains in gaming if you ask me.

Well said, Noodle. Although, your avatar shows you may have a little bias.

I do  but everything I said was factual
For a second thought it was the complete collection (Legacy). It isn't but there's hope it's out somewhere for cheap.

You never know, but it's a bit of a long shot at this stage. It's one of those releases later in the generation that seems to be steadily creeping up in value. Of course you can get one of the many imported copies relatively cheaply, but the PAL copies are a different matter.

I own the UK version of the Legacy Collection and can't for the life of me understand why it's worth so much. The only positive it has over the standard HD collection is that it has the MGS 1 and 2 graphic novels on disc but they can be downloaded quite easily if you know how. The MGS4 disc has the Trophy and full install patch on disc but again, this can be downloaded as a free patch for any existing copy of MGS4.
Then there's the PS1 versions of MGS1 and VR missions which you're better off purchasing from the US store anyway to get the superior 60htz, border-less versions. This HD collection is far better value for money IMO.

You have to remember that actual content, and to an extent quality, are rarely determining factors in something becoming valuable. Generally anything that belongs to a collectible franchise (and Metal Gear certainly is one of those) and has had a limited print run (again, the PAL copies are limited) will become collectible. The points you make about what it's worth from a content point of you are valid, but the irony is that if those points result in fewer people buying at the time of release, and therefore make it less likely that the game will be reprinted, it's going to mean fewer copies are around and therefore a higher value in the long run.
