two things, and I don't like to burst anyone's bubbles but:
1) no HDR so this and other non HDR 4K sets will see an inevitable tumble in price as manufacturers already struggling to shift sets realise the HDR cat is out of the bag and people like myself will put up with a 7 year old Sammy for another year to get HDR and 4K at a reasonable price, currently £1500+ is not in my opinion a reasonable price.
2) its currys, I wont go into details but I wouldn't buy from them if it was £250. have a look at how many people have had stuff delivered damaged, and not just fragile stuff either.

Actually if you want a HDR ready 4K you can get the Sony x8509 posted here for £899 now. Having said that I had the 55" and returned it not just because of the android problems but I didn't find the picture that great.
What's better this, or the 49LF630V at John Lewis, the price difference doesn't really bother me but the 5 year warranty would be handy.

If you do not own a 4K TV then you will not be able to complain about all of the 4K content that doesn't yet exist. Best stick with 1080P and be happy.
However, this is a damn good priced 4K TV to watch the abundance of 1080i/p content on.

It is pretty bizarre, a year or so ago people buying brand new TVs wouldn't touch them if they weren't 3D, and it had to be the right kind of 3D at that. Now they're only interested in 4K, despite there being almost no 4K content.

I hated using lg for my ps4 and micro dimming is the worst thing ever
This sounds cheap but I would get a samsung every time over lg
I bought the 40" version of this TV for under £300 a few weeks ago and it's great. Black's could be better, but other than that it's perfect. It comes with two remotes - a cursor pointer one and a normal one. The pointer is a gimmick so I only use the normal remote.

I suppose it depends if you can afford to pay a bit extra for the 700 series which looks like it has a proper 4k screen. The 600 series all seem to have the "fake" 4k screens with the extra white pixels. Ive asked in currys/tescos about it but they just say they are 4k screens. im going to hold off for a bit as my maximum i can pay at the minute is £400-£500

I just don't think its value for money, I would wait 6 months to 12 months.
I'm biased towards LG but only because I have 3 now with no issues' great connectivity located on the side ( not the back ) more so for usb not so much HDMI or scart' optical audio is important too if you intend to add a decent soundbar etc.
Nothing wrong with Phillips in my experience either but they've fell well behind with televisions of late which isn't a good sign ( playing catch up )
Connectivity / location of connections are the things I look out for ( apart from the usual specs ) - hope this helps.

If you want gaming with the best input lag just get a Sony. X83 or the bigger x85. You'll thank me later!

I've just bought what I assume is the newer model of this (770 49") and I am extremely pleased with it, no problems with games or sport so far as I can tell and the upscaling on HD is brilliant. Not sure what the difference is between the 680 and 770 is though.
Edit. Just looked it up and it would appear it's the proccesor speed and the 680 can't use vp9.

LG are not too keen on getting anything but their top of the range TVs reviewed at the moment, that is because they know they do not fair well.
This TV has an IPS panel, good viewing angle but not so good when it comes to blacks.
I think you will find that this TV is also exclusive to Currys and PC World so they can basically set the price with no competition.

its been this price for at least a month!! I bought the 850V version which is a better picture and has a 5 yr guarantee for £629 so it might be an option to shell out the extra £130 for the upgraded model with a 5yr warranty!!!

Do LG's still suffer with the banding/smearing issue that they had 2-3 years ago ??
I went through 3 LG TVs and returned them due to banding. I found out that it was something to do with the way the anti reflective coating is applied and on fast moving video such as sports looked like crap.
I ended up with a Samsung plasma but it's showing its age now.
