Modellers Mecca is selling some Hornby trains sets at half of the RRP. There's five different ones available ranging from £45 to £142, but they are all significantly cheaper than anywhere else.
The sets are
R1160 - The Cornishman Train Set £142
R1138 GWR Passenger Freight £45
R1171 Flight Of The Mallard £80
R1177 Hornby Gloucester City £75
R1167 Flying Scotsman Train Set £80
The last three are probably the best in terms of value for money as they are usually between £100-130 even at the discount retailers. There's only a small amount of stock available so don't hang about if you want one of these.
Also the same place is selling lots of Hornby buildings and accessories at half price, so it's worth checking out even if you don't want to buy a train set. Also shipping is free for the train sets if you choose Royal Mail!

It looks like a lot of them have now sold out with only the Flying Scotsman and The Cornishman sets still available.

Are there any deals on the track expansion packs. I got my son a base oval set last year for Christmas, but he wants more, all the trains all come with the oval track which is pointless, so would have to buy them separately

Have any of you considered G scale ??? Have it inside or in the garden. For the children there is a great value set made by Playmobil at around £80...radio controlled. Excellent value.
