Price now gone up.
Not really such a deal anymore.
Been looking for a good price on the Sapphire version of this card, but Goggle popped up this one instead.
seems about the best price for this version
Only just spotted this so am prepared to get chilly if I'm wrong

Hmmm...I think CCL are reading these comments :stuck_out_tongue:
Just had a call to say it has been rebuilt today and they have replaced the Asus 970 with a Palit 970 so all the ports are accessible. They have confirmed it has been stress tested and all ok so should be no issues. Strange that I called at lunchtime and was told it had not been started and they were looking at tomorrow due to workload.
Anyway I will let you know tomorrow how it all looks.
I am unfamiliar with the brand swap of graphics card but hopefully it will be ok.
Thanks for all your help.

Really pleased to hear he still got the computer in time after all the messing around and is happy with it
Guess it was too much to hope for a bit of compensation.
I wont be posting any more CCL deals thats for sure.
and thank you yes, Christmas was a good one :-)
Hope you have a great 2016

Sorry, thought I had updated this
Yes I eventually got it back a couple of days before Xmas which was a bit of a rush to get everything installed and working for the big day.
I did ask about compensation due to having to mess around returning it twice through no fault of my own and the tech guy just mumbled that he does not deal with that side of things but somebody would call me...of course they never did.
I would not chance another order with CCL unfortunately as it was just too much stress and looking at some of the negative feedback on Ebay they did take orders for Gaming PC's a couple of weeks before Xmas and refunded just days before (usually around 22nd/23rd) when it was far too late to order another so I really feel for those parents, at least I got my son's PC eventually.
He is really happy with it, his games play without freezing all the time and we hardly see him now, just when he is hungry
Thanks for thinking of us, hope you had a good Xmas.

Sorry to hear they are still messing you around, was hoping no news was good news.
know they must be busy at this time of year, but seem to be making stupid mistakes.
The very least they could do is give you some sort of compensation for all the grief this has and still is causing. Didn't know much about this company before hand, and really not impressed with what I have heard so far. Shame it's so close the Christmas or could tell them where to stick their PC.
But saying all that, still very much hope that it end up worth all this messing about and your son will be happy with it.

Unfortunately the saga continues with my son's PC. It arrived back yesterday and I have spent time setting things up, downloading games he had requested etc.
I have just received an email from CCL tech department saying they have just realised it has been fitted with a GTX 960 card instead of GTX 970 in error so it is now being packed up yet again and 2 more days waiting for collection and delivery. I am just hoping I receive a working PC for Christnas :disappointed:
I am grateful they have been honest regarding the error but I have spent hours and hours dealing with this, mainly because it takes so long to get through on the phone and you have to ring numerous times to chase anything up. I really do not know how they run a business or have I just been unlucky?
I am also concerned how the components are going to cope with being couriered back to CCL so much.
Gutted to say the least.

Any labeled i7 at the current moment, handles the 960 without being a bottleneck.
The only i5 that would even come close to being a bottleneck is the i5 6xx series. The rest should be fine. Even that one would be close.
And yes, there's been about 6 models of i5s for the desktop PC.

Just having an i5 or i7 moniker front of the CPU doesn't mean anything. We are now up to 6th Gen i5 and i7 processors. First Generation i5 and i7 do struggle.
Second Gen+ i5 and i7 do better, however it’s still worth mentioning it also depends on what version/version of these processors you have.

Personally, I would wait till January 2016 to see what the GTX 960Ti brings to the dinner table so speak.
However, if you cannot wait and you need a graphics card and your budget is up to £200, I would buy the Sapphire R9 380X. Reason, it’s the faster card. It’s clocked higher by default.
There will be a new card on the market soon, AMD R9 390 4GB card, rumour's show it’s intended for the Chinese market. Hopefully if the demand is high, they may decide to bring the hardware over to Europe. They reckon the card will sell for around £200. These are just rumours.
Finally, these cards are not worth the asking price, none of these cards are even at £260 for a GTX 970, or even a R9 390 8GB. These are worth less than £220 Inc VAT.

MBeeching you are correct that is exactly the problem. They mentioned that it would be a better graphics card if they swapped it but I am a little cynical.
I cannot believe they had not come across the issue before.
Can you confirm what I need to look for if they replace the graphics card with regards to access to ports.

Oh I can see why he was looking forward to it, should be a nice gaming machine.
The case seems to be an Aerocool Battle Hawk but that strange bracket could certainly block a video output.
The PNY GTX 970 is unusual as the HDMI is at the top of the card, if they install a different model you may find the Display port socket blocked instead. Definitely ask them to double check! Can't believe they missed it though, that's pretty sloppy :disappointed:

this is a very strange issue to have - one a novice probably wouldnt get wrong. the plate that goes over the ports should align fine unless 1. they haven't fitted the plate that came with the card. 2. the graphics card is sagging or 3. they have put it in the wrong pci slot (highly doubtful). like others have said are you able to post a photo of the back where graphics card ports are?

They had me trying to move it down a bit whilst on the phone which I did but none of the screws lined up then do they said they would sort it.
They said they would put a different graphics card in where the ports are located differently.
The thing that annoyed me is that it obviously had not been tested before sending out so I now wonder what other issues I will encounter on Xmas day, with a very upset son who has saved every penny, had no birthday gifts too as he put towards his new pc which he has been watching youtube videos on since spring
Just wish I had gone elsewhere :disappointed:

The case it was built into had a metal lip which overhangs the ports on the graphics card.
I know mistakes happen but it obviously hasn't been tested beforehand and the reason I have paid to have it built is because I don't have the experience.
Just hoping it arrives back and is working before xmas.

Tbh, it probably wouldn't be that hard to sort that out yourself. Could just be a case of reseating the graphics card. If you want to take a picture and post it here then I'm sure people could advise you.
That's assuming that there is no warranty seal on that case by CCL though. If there is then don't touch it because you shouldn't be held responsible for their mistakes.

I bought a gaming pc from ccl as I was assured they have been going years and were reputable.
I am so sorry I did as it has taken hours to deal with and it is still back at ccl for repair even though I ordered with plenty of time for xmas.
It was built so you cannot get the hdmi lead into the graphics card. When I have chased today they have not even started on the fix as they have so many returns they said.
Im gutted £600+ and Im worried my son is going have no pc at Xmas.

CCL are reliable enough as a seller.
I would say that the marginally higher clock speeds probably aren't worth the extra £15 and in real terms you probably won't see any difference between the cards. Save your £15 and if you really want to, and can be bothered to read up on how to do it, you can probably overclock your GPU and memory to match the other card. Although, like I said, probably won't make any difference in real terms.
The stats look better - 6000MHz GDDR5, 1040MHz GPU for the Sapphire compared to 5700 MHz GDDR5, 990 MHz GPU for the ASUS, but I don't know how much difference that makes.
