I'm not sure of the differences between the A40s which I own and these, but the A40s are the best headset I've ever used after wasting money on cheaper headsets.
Astros are well worth the extra cash, and this is a great saving, hot

Heat, if the headset is average, you could sell and partner some better headphones with the amp. I have the A40 wireless one good few years old now and use it with some sennheiser headphones and a pc mic

Headset is actually pretty good. Any headset seems to be sexy with a good amp though. Had these when they first came out, and they were good for music as well as gaming without the amp.
However, the A40 headset is still leaps and bounds ahead of the A30s when it comes to sound quality and immersiveness. Over ear is just king for gaming.
Not to say these are bad by any means, I just wound up using them for music with my phone more than actual gaming. My a40s on the other hand, I'd be lost without them. Theyre still the best headsets going for gaming, and when the A40 headset is paired with the mixamp, its godlike. For music especially, every frequency is just so clean and crisp, even the extreme low end.
This is still worth it just for the amp though. Use the headset for portable media, but a decent set of cans just for gaming.

Will these work ok with xbox1, as I read some are only compatible with ps4 and pc ? Was thinking of getting Turtle beach x07 pro's but if these are compatible i think the 7.1 sound would be nicer.

With the headset adapter they are. Says on the box in the image on the webpage.
I also know someone who has them and uses them on the Xbox One elite controller without the adapter. I'm not sure if the new controllers with the headphone jack are the same?

I came across this review if it helps anyone. :man:
" Personally, I'd go with the A40's, mainly because that model is made for gaming, and is also made originally for the Mixamp. A40's have great directional positioning when used with the Mixamp with the Toslink cable.
A30's are good, but they are mainly for more casual usage, such as a long car ride, plane rides/(Gaming on the go), or just for portability. They work well, but if you are playing FPS games and want the best directional positioning, then I do not recommend these.
Most Sennheisers are great, but I've had success with the Sennheiser HD555 with a random clip-on mic into the Astro Mixamp. These compete well with the A40's.
I currently am happy with my A40+Mixamp setup, as it does not have a heavy Bass Range, which is super important when playing FPS games when trying to hear footsteps. (Bass takes away from sound quality/covers up the higher Treble Range, such as footsteps.) I say go for the A40's, its a great investment in my opinion.

I have A40's, I have used my cousin's A30s, and used to own Trittons - (Trittons were terrible....)

Does anyone know how far does the wire extends which comes packaged? Can you replace with longer wire, is it a standard audio jack?

On my A40s, I assume they will be the same, the optical and usb are 3 metre each, the wire from the headset to the mixamp is 2 metre. The headset cable is 5 pole to the headset and 4 pole to the mixamp, if you want to change this you'll need to buy a replacement from Astro as I don't believe these are standard. If you were wanting to use the headset with your phone etc, you'd probably want a shorter cable, I think they do one with inline mic so you can detach the boom.
