The girlfriends just bought the fire stick and I was considering one of these to replace the rather lacklustre smart features on my Sharp TV. Does anyone know if these boxes suffer from the audio sync issues the stick suffers from? The Sticks we've tried both have the same issue where where the audio on the likes of YouTube and iPlayer goes out of sync if paused or at random.

I bought this for my mum and it has its pros and cons. as expected BBC ipayer and the like are on there for free. I have a Netflix account and using "unblock us" I've used a dns that makes it show US shows too. I also have amazon prime which allows amazon videos to play for free....sort of. it boots up into prime video by default and the voice search only works with that. There's no way to stop it from displaying content that you have to buy. The only workaround I found was to set parental control up which also blocks purchases and access to various settings. In the end I decided to advise against using prime video and stick to Netflix.
I installed Kodi with a Genesis and Showbox add on using the App2Firetv app for the most part. Both have way too many menus to click through for someone older to be able to get to grips with easily. I've used Firestarter to make Kodi load when you press Home twice but the amount of menus you have to toggle through only to find a list of video sources (many of which don't work) isn't very user friendly unless you were born around 1980+. I considered the Spartan Build which cleans up the user interface but it barely reduces the clutter by one or two clicks. Plus it shows adult channels on the main menu which isn't very nice when you're handing the remote to your mum.
In the end I said to stick to Netflix for ease of use and reliability. It's a shame really but it's still a decent box for the price.

KODI is Free and it's great. Such a pity it's a pig to Root my Fire TV 2. But it still works sideloaded, and links to my Onedrive to play files. Even been watching vintage TV.
I have set it up, that if I choose the Wired connection, it is set to us a different DNS so I can watch US Netflix.
Great to watch the old Twilight Zone, StarTrek, Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Not to mention a better choice of films.

Hi I'm new to all this fire tv. If your not a prime member what can u use on the stick or box? Is bbc I player free to use? I don't want to subscribe to loads of different things but the fire to makes out like u pay one off charge to buy the box but it's never that simple just like the now to box isn't simple

I think its more down to the TV I'm using it with than the stick, they don't seem to play very well with each other. With my sharp 60le651k all video content has lip sync issues regardless of settings on either device but with our Samsung ue65h8000 its perfect. Shame really, excellent little stick for £25

People always talk about adding kodi and that's all you'll ever need. But can you watch sky sports HD channels in same quality as normal sky sports hd? My experience is 'no' as I can only get sd and the quality isn't great. Please correct me if I'm wrong and tell me how I can get it in hd quality.

Your not gonna always get the best quality on kodi, but it's free. I've found kodi 15.2 and Apollo 5.9 the best combination so far. ( don't forget to install fire starter to disable auto firetv updates

I've already got a 4k TV with Amazon and 4k Netflix built in which I've yet to subscribe too! I thought buying this 4k box for £65 installing Kodi any other programs would give me everything for free sports, movies, Netflix,Amazon ect and the main reason was BT SPORT as ain't got this with My Sky package. Don't know whether to keep it or take it back as my TV has majority of it. People selling this on eBay fully loaded for a £100 plus so must work for some people. Anyone give us advice as still sitting in the box. ??

Great product, you can sideload apps too (without rooting)
There is an app on Android that you put on your phone or tablet and it transfers it to the Fire and it runs (Not all the time) I have spotify/accuradio and more on it.
Not done Kodi yet but will as I have just slammed a 64g memory card, as apps automaticly install when the internal memory is full.
Little miffed as the internal memory appears to be 8g, but that is not too concerning due to the above.
Voice search is good, but does not search Netflix internally.
At the moment the USB port has not been activated, so you can't use it for anything, sadly. but PLEX is available.
Official software is a little thin on the ground but I'm sure it will get there.
I found that finding your way around is a little confusing, and sideloaded apps are hidden away in the settings section.
Re: Bluetooth, I have connected my Bluetooth speaker to it, Keyboard, Mouse, and a Bluetooth Receiver.
Only thing that is, that it's missing ALL4 (Tried sideloading, but no joy)
