It takes less than a minute and a half to install Google Play store, it's not hard or complicated at all.

I worked it out. Where the instructions say 'Have Disk' you select 'All Devices'.
Can't get widgets to work or get an alternative launcher to act as default.
But good for £35.

Before doing this to get Play Store etc do you update the tablet as normal??
Or will this block the google play store thing working?
Does anyone know if an HDMI lead is available for this?

From what I've seen, many people have had problems with fast track deliveries over the Black Friday weekend, and it's still going on. I'm surprised I haven't seen more of an uproar since I have personally spoken to quite a lot of people who haven't had their items delivered, or even an update from Argos since they ordered on Friday or during the weekend.
For what it's worth, I ordered something on Friday for next day delivery (nothing was mentioned about possible delays etc. but it's an understandable possibility right, so long as they let you know?). So I waited way past the delivery slot, called them up and was told 'it didn't go out for delivery' and asked her to reschedule it for the next day. Again, no delivery after. So after being on hold for an hour, I was told the item was out of stock for store delivery but can be delivered from the warehouse - an all day delivery during the week, no time slots this time. So after waiting in all weekend having to go to work during the week, I asked her to cancel it.
In short, collect if you can, or just hope your area is better off than mine. I am quite surprised I've read no problems other than yours in the Argos threads I've been in though. The problem has been very quiet even though they had similar problems last year.

I ordered mine on Amazon friday for the same price, a proper deal. This version can take up to 128GB micro sd card, just ordered 64GB card on Ebay for £5.99. This should make the Grand Daughter happy!

id just like to say, what a wonderful gift. however, the card you bought on ebay is more than likely fake. I.E its only 8gb but its been hacked to make it look like 64gb.
ive bought a number of cards on ebay for the same size and price you mentioned, all fakes. please buy one from 7dayshop or similar as the ones from ebay will stop working once you put on enough content.

This uses the amazon app store and does not easily install the google play store. it also uses a modified version of android. if you arent sure have a quick look at some reviews on youtube.
that said...depending on how confortable you are with computers...
and cyanogenmod is apparently ready or close to ready to load on fire v5 if you want to 'root' this to make it a 'normal' android tablet.
that said this will do most things fine right out of the box...only real downside is that its really set up to consume amazon services and products so all of the menu defaults and options are for amazon specific products (app store, amazon prime streaming etc)

Same price at currys with free delivery and 10% cashback with quidco I think?
Picked one up for the wife and installed google play store with a bit of hassle (depends on which instructions you follow - don't connect to PC and enable debugging mode until you've installed adb drivers). Son who has an ipad mini and iphone6 has previous had android devices and was after a "phone" for access to all his google apps and games, he tried this out and was impressed enough to order one (well get me to) for pick up tomorrow. Battery isn't great and screen is showing its age, RAM is the limiting factor but it seems snappy enough between apps. For the price well worth it I would say.

Just picked mine up. If you buy something with Fast Track (as in, you pay for the item online and just collect it in store) is it eligible for return under the DSA? I want to open and have a play to see if it's powerful enough for me.

I ordered one on Friday, from amazon which arrived yesterday. It's good for the price but you have to remember you haven't paid 10x the figure for an iPad, it can be a bit slow, doesn't always hold the wifi signal, depending on what apps you want there are plenty to choose from (Facebook, netflix, twitter, iplayer, Peppa pig etc)
