Had both standard and top of the range free range ones, both were excellent.

Yep, had lidl's top end free range turkey year before and aldi's standard fresh turkey last year because our Lidl ran out. The Lidl one was the best I've ever eaten tbh and from what I could tell, at least half the price and bigger than the equivalent at Sainsburys.

I shop at Aldi all the time as it's my local supermarket. The meat is better than at the other supermarkets and much cheaper. If your buying your veg their just to warn you it's good and much cheaper than anywhere else but only lasts a few days so bare that in mind when doing your shop leave the veg oh and bread for as close to the big day as possible. Your sometime limited on choices with cupboard items like tinned stuff but their Brand corale Is just the same as Heinz along with their tomato sauce. Their frozen fruit/deserts are really nice as well. They do a really good range of dairy & continental meats & have been getting more Christmas specials in over the last few weeks well worth buying.
I hope I've helped you a bit on your Christmas shop at your aldi hope you have a good one and return for more shops.
Also if you want to plan a shopping list in advance as it might be a bit busy when in the store on your day of shop try using the mysupermarket.com app this compares quite a few places now and shows you what aldi actually sell as they only show their special buys on their own site. Its not 100% accurate as it never has the super 6 or meat offer prices right so refer to aldis own site for that and you'll see more products in-store than on the app. Apart from that it's ok for a little browse before you get to the shop.

No vouchers this year? I suppose they've been too successful, my local is always packed.

I think it's because they are now successful they don't need to do the monthly or Christmas voucher. I don't shop there anymore as the veg was rotten 2 days after buying plus Lidl still do vouchers so shop there instead

ALDI is a bit crafty on fresh produce dates, they use week codes where week 1 is the first week of the new calendar year. Look for the higher number like its either 49 or 50 now.

How long does this run for?
AnimalMagic81
10 Dec 15#29
Never knew that, useful to know thanks! I had always assumed that Aldi were against putting best before dates on fresh produce so consumers could decide themselves when something was off since there was a backlash in press again about dates being too short and it leading to more waste than necessary.

I always wondered why Aldi and Lidl so successful these days!!found answer here. Tbh i never had a good shopping experience. I found more like copy of labels and packaging of leading brands. I'll rather buy value range than original looking fake product. but eod its individual choice.

I believe that the week numbers are week codes that the fresh produce are picked/packaged. Consider buying fresh produce from the your local market stall, no 'best before' date indication anywhere.

Do live there Parma hams an salamis am gonna get some of these rather one of the Parma ham leg things lol. One thing that's really nice is their ready made family lasagna it's the best ready made one I've had. I just wish aldi did reduced sugar & salt variants of their tomato sauce & beans like Heinz do. Maybe things like this will come in time as they are getting bigger now.
Also I read that Aldi are going online with home delivery in the new year starting with the special buys and building up from there to match the others with full grocery shopping online.

I think you just have to try things in the store there are only a small amount of things we don't like from there must say there boxes of sweet clementines for £2.19 are lovely an I have used the wooden boxes for sweet hampers for my kids.
