Ok, here are some initial results. Looking good since the packs say they need to be cycled 5 times before they reach full capacity.
As Magnets found, they came charged out of the packet to about 80% capacity.
Having charged them up fully, on first cycle of discharge, the AAAs had a capacity of about 910mAh and the AAs a capacity of 2400mAh.

These are good figures. I just did eight AA cells (2 batches of 4) in my 7DayShop £19.99 Intelligent Charger. 2nd test cycle, charging at 1000ma and discharging at 500ma. All 8 ended up between 2200 and 2300, which is an excellent spread for cheap LSD's.
My c9000 is in Spain at present so can't try that just now, however the 7DayShop charger is nearly as good, perhaps reading just a little high.

I now have a wider range of results from all 8 cells of each pack
The range I found across 8 AA cells was 2350mAh - 2450mAh (so every one has already got a greater capacity then that declared)
However the AAA cells varied more widely (based on % of declared capacity) from 900mAh - 975mAh
Edit: Charging/discharging rates used were:
AA - 500mA charge/250mA discharge
AAA - 200mA charge/100mA discharge
These were chosen as they were the closest my charger allows to the 460mA (AA) and 190mA (AAA) charge rates indicated on the packaging for 7 hour charge times.

I guess there is/was a honeymoon period with LSDs where they all came from a small number of reputable factories, and the rot has/will set in, resulting in many of them becoming as dire as some of the traditional types.

I've generally found Tronic AAs to be good, from their old red ones to the latest black eco. The only ones I ever had problems with IIRC were black non-LSD ones which were very low capacity.
The most recent black eco 2300mah AAs had the odd low capacity cell in each packet though.

I agree. I have just tested 8 of these from one pack and my results are similar. In this thread some people are clearly referring to earlier Tronic offerings, not these multi coloured Xmassy ones. Some of the earlier ones, especially the non LSD's were dire, IMHO.
After working with LSD batteries for many years, one of the important key tests for me is how close the initial and recharge capacities from one cell to another are. The closer together they are implies to me that the quality of manufacture is good and the materials satisfactory. My tests and those of 'Magnets' above seem to indicate these are pretty good.
It's always a chance with cheap LSD's but these seem fine. How long they will last etc.. Remains to be seen.

The big Lidl Tronic charger is excellent. The one with six cell bays, two 9v bays and a USB socket on the front that we all forget is there. It’s a very good charger for the money, even if their batteries are naff (although I’ve heard that the Lidl rechargeable batteries are naff except for their LSD* or “Ready To Use” ones, which (unfortunately not from personal experience as I already have too many other manufacturers ones) apparently are quite a good sort to buy.
*Low Self Discharge, not lysergic acid diethylamide — it doesn’t mean they are hallucinogenic, it simply means they hold their charge to the point that they can even come prepacked from the manufacturer with a significant charge already in them, ready to be utilised.

I really like hukd as it enables me to get some really good deals and add the odd bit of banter, which might put a smile on 1 or 2 faces. I usually spend very little time on spelling grammar, as long as the content is readable then for the most part that OK, thanks for the heads up on the use of the apostrophe, I think you will probably see it on a lot of the other comments and will definitely see it in some of my future one`s.
if you weigh them 950mah should be slightly heavier.
the older (black) tronics are not the low self discharge type and don't come prepared charged which is what I'm guessing is being commented on, I imagine these will be charged and lsd, either way who cares if they come charged or not.......just charge them.....

Actually Lidl have done black (& silver) in BOTH standard and low-self-discharge types. The lsd versions have "eco" as part of the writing on the battery (and the standards don't) - and as I noted above, there are at least two (previous) different lsd AAs.
I've also got some of Lidl's first lsd rechargeables, which are red ...

My experience too. The really old grey and black ordinary rechargeables were below par for a Lidl product.
However, it is still a pretty wild generalisation.
In front of me now are two almost cosmetically identical (black& silver) "Tronic Energy Eco" AAAs --- but one is marked 850, the other 950.
I expect these multi-coloured 8-packs to be different batteries again!
But I'd still expect them to be perfectly OK low-self-discharge rechargeables, and well worth the asking price.

The Lidl fast charger is really awful. Apparently it's a rebranded Ansmann Energy 8 plus, just look that up to see how many people have problems with it.
It does charge quite fast but gets incredibly hot since most of the electronics are sitting right under the cells, so the cells get hot too even though it's only 1000ma Max.
It does a short precharge then decides if it wants to do a discharge/charge cycle or just a regular charge. You can't tell it which to perform and once it's started discharging it seems to want to discharge all channels until it finishes, even if you remove the cells or restart it.
So you could put your cells on expecting them to charge, then come back in 2 hours and they will be dead because it wanted to cycle them.

950mAh feels smoother than 850mAh:p No, we have loads of remotes and wireless keyboards (media centres etc.) and have ended up with rechargeables from Lidl, Hama and a couple of others. My impression is the Lidl ones need recharging a little sooner than the premium brands - perhaps 8-10 weeks rather than 12 weeks.
I also run some remote sensors on these that have a fixed, low battery draw and see the same behaviour.
The older Lidl Tronic AAA batteries were 850mAh IIRC and these ones don't seem to last any longer than those.

Have used Lidl's Tronic batteries for at least 5 years for remotes, torches and other things. They seem fine, hold their charge, recharge ok and have reasonable capacity. Really, they're fine for remotes unless you use your remote all the time!
They aren't premium batteries like Hama, but they aren't Hama-priced either. After a few years they need replacement of course, but that's still better than filling the planet with used alkaline cells.
NiMh batteries need charging at the proper rate - if you're using a poorly designed charger, the cells won't hold much charge, so get a 'smart' charger such as Lidl's that will charge them at the proper rate. Fast charging isn't good for NiMh battery chemistry. I suspect the 950mAh capacity is marketing. They feel more like 800-850mAh to me.
This is a useful deal, cheaper than normal prices. Voted Hot.
