Wondered into my local Home Bargains and found one of their star buys is 500ml of Coconut Oil for £3.99.
Seems like a good deal to me.

That's wonderful news. For pain management and MS, it's well established that cannabis is a vaible alternative but this seems to be generally down to the THC. Tablet forms such as dronabinol are highly effective delivery systems of the drug in comparison to smoking with it's obvious negative effects and unknown quantities of active compounds. This is why I have a problem with claiming oil and cannabis is a miracle cure. In the oil for example there is only a tiny amount of THC, you'd have a take or smoke a lot more compared to achieving anywhere near what taking a couple of tablets which are legally prescribed would.
All of the studies that have shown promise have been purified forms of the actual active compounds found in cannabis such as THC and cannabidiol and even synthetic versions having practically the same efficacy.
It's worth mentioning cannabis can be shown to have tumour promoting effects. There's also evidence that any anti-tumour effects will be limited to specific types of cancer as it depends on the levels of specific receptors in the same way that herceptin only works on certain types of breast cancer.
Cancer is complex, we can't just say oh here is the cure. It's great news about the people you know, particularly the person who had the brain tumour. However, it's hard to conclusively attribute oil as the definite cure. As I've mentioned, oil can contain low concentrations of the compounds that are interesting and cancer is complex. Was the person on a regular conventional course of treatment too? How long had the tumour been there? How quickly did the mass shrink? How often and how much oil was used? When and how was the oil taken? What specifically was in the oil that helped? Etc
I'd love to be able to eat my own hat, and perhaps one day I'll have to, but as it stands, oil and smoking cannabis certainly aren't ideal forms of treatment and there's certainly no reason to believe they can cure cancer as is described on the Internet. Perhaps the specific compounds I have mentioned, whether natural or synthetic, will be used alongside current treatments and therapies. We have to look at things objectively in order to make the best conclusions.

I know personally of four people who it has helped. One with an inoperable brain tumour. The oil reduced the mass, which was so big it was untouchable, enough for it to be completely removed. Another with MS who is controlling his condition without meds. An arthritis and spondalosis sufferer who is pain free and myself. This is all the evidence I need. As more and more people begin to cure their conditions come back and look at this thread in a year or two.

I would love to read about the conclusively proven benefits of a specific compound found in cannabis at a specific dose curing terminal illnesses but you can't. To believe there is ample evidence proving otherwise shows a misunderstanding of the limitation and applications of current scientific studies. For example, some amazing results might have been shown on mouse neurones in a Petri dish but that's nowhere near the same as a live human brain. Maybe cannabis helped kill some tumour cells in a Petri dish but then again so does a flamethrower. Throw in lots of anecdotes and the odd conspiracy theory and I can see how cannabis might seem appealing.
Cannabinoids are undoubtedly interesting drugs with some known benefits and specific ones in future may be used alongside existing regimes but to paint smoking or ingesting or applying cannabis or hemp oil as miracle cures based on the current "evidence" is wrong. Anyone who dresses them up as a miracle cure for practically everything is somewhat deluded.
Google Dr David Gorski for a good summary.

Google Rick Simpson. There is lots of studies being conducted at present about cannabinoids but Ithere are many people who have used them to treat chronic and terminal illness. Please read about the benefits of cannabinoids and the oil itself. One day it might save yours or a family members life.
I am almost certain I picked it up from the same section as the coconut milk & cooking sauces.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was correcting you, just adding more info and highlighting further that there is currently no evidence for coconut oil as a cure.
That rumour is quite prevalent on the Internet, yes you said it hasn't been confirmed but it might still be enough for someone to start looking it up and getting taken in by the available misinformation online. An above poster has already linked to an example of such a site.

A lot of people think things like coconut oil are a joke. This is until you have been seriously ill and failed by the medical industry and you have to find out what works for yourself by essentially being your own doctor. I think the extra virgin raw coconut oil is great and easy to put into shakes or porridge etc. I believe it has health benefits.
This is quite a good link from a doctor who used coconut oil on her husband who had Alzheimer's.
Now add cannabinoids to coconut oil and you definaltey have a super Medicine you can pretty much rely on for many illnesses either chronic or terminal.
An anecdote by someone, particularly one trying to make money off an unproven cure to give false hope, is not only insufficient evidence to make claims of a cure but also quite despicable. There's a snopes article that helps explain it. I don't see how adding cannabinoids will make it a panacea of modern medicine.

Make sure you only buy organic coconut oil to cook with. Refined coconut oil is really bad for you.

There are no actual studies done on Alzheimer's and coconut oil although I do believe one is in progress. With regards to fat burning/weight loss etc, you can't target a specific spot and the effect is very slight, if it even happens in the first place. A summary of the evidence is available.
a report came out in america that virgin coconut oil as a substitute for other oils is good as a way to prevent treat people with alzheimers and other neurological disorders however it hasnt been confirmed as they are still doing studies on it but its virgin not normal

virgin is by far the best as its only allowed that label if its the first press of the pulp.
cold pressed is the rest of that pulp but still contains most of the benefits
then you have refined which most of time uses hexane and it kills alot of the good stuff, the only exception i know is KTC who say they dont use hexane and there oil is only lightly refined but insist they use NO CHEMICALS.
just dont burn the oil when cooking as i said above.
for skin though you can get a decent moisture cream and mix this virgin with it and make your own cream.
it works really well on feet and nails and i use it on my hair every so often.
loads of recipes on net for its uses.
also its good for belly fat as its high in MCT

I don't like the stuff myself but Morrisons delivery has coconut oil for about £1.50 a jar.
isn't most "100% coconut oil" worse than hydrogenated fats? it's all a myth and unless you buy a very specific Virgin oil it's terrible for you?

If it is then you don't need to use it for cooking, it's excellent for the hair and skin as well.

No, but kinda right.
Refined coconut oil is usually done with hexane which is bad.
But cold pressed, centrifugal is great as it preserves the benefits.
Ktc are the only non virgin that I know of that don't use hexane but virgin is amazing stuff.
I use it alot in cooking and I even use this one here and the taste and benefits are great.
Hair, nails, skin, pulling and cooking.
The fat is healthy for you and this is amazing added to coffee with grass fed butter.
Just remember if cooking do not burn it as the smoke is something that will harm you.
