FURTHER REDUCTIONS. Just bought Inspiron i7 4500U 1.80Ghz 8GB 1TB HD 8850M With touch screen for £204 delivered.

Bought one on Sunday, delivered today with a 1hr windows. Laptop is in as new condition with as said before sticker on bottom removed. There is a copy of Win 8 installed but not licensed. I was going to install Windows 7 anyway, but because the OS is already there I can use powershell to export all the drivers, looks good for my daughters Xmas Pressie, INSPIRION, i7, 8GB, 1TB HDD

Can't find any Alienware's anywhere am I being stupid or do they not sell them?

This and also screen res below FullHD is just a compromise. With a lower resolution screen you get to see a lot less content. Like you can fit 4x analog TV resolution content in 1 FullHD screen, which is important for text.

Yep, I noticed after receiving it, I thought it was an error on listing going by the amount of GPU RAM. I still have my Alienware M17x r2 with dual Ati 5870 Xfire, donno why they stopped doing dual cards, makes sense though as it barely makes a difference. The primary reason I bought this was to play GTA V! As my current laptop keeps crashing after I upgraded to Win10. Tried reinstalling Win7 on another drive and still the game keeps crashing, maybe I had a very old driver in Win7 that just worked. Having given up I am hoping this new laptop is less of a struggle. Downloading GTAV is a beetch though...

What you want to do is unplug charger, remove the battery and press hold of the power button for 5-10seconds. Plug the battery in and put it on charge. It will charge this time.

I'd unplug the battery and put it back in, don't turn it on and leave it over night, Dell batteries are known for getting stuck sometimes if they haven't been used for a while. If that doesn't fix it I'd get them to replace it

I've seen the 1600x900 screen and it really is terrible. Colours are washed out with very poor viewing angles. Almost appears that it has light bleed across the enitre screen unlike the crispness and viewing angles of the IPS 1080P screen. Unless you're going to hook it up to a monitor, you'd be better going for 1080P as it's leagues better.

I've changed a few screens on the AW 17 and it isn't the easiest as you have to take most of the components out and it's a lot of screws but it's always an option if you wanted to buy it, see what you think and you could then upgrade the screen. There's a few teardown vids on Youtube that will show you what to do. Hope it helps.

hi everyone i got an Dell Inspiron 15R 5521 i7 3517U 1.90GHz 8Gb 1Tb HD 8730M 15.6" FHD. looks new, clean hdd i installed windows 10 all fine.
The problem is battery dont charge stuck on 5% if i disconnect the charger it turns off. Very unhappy with this :disappointed:. Can someone help me?

Ordered the Inspiron 15R, delivered today in immaculate condition. The only giveaway that it wasn't brand new was the removal of the serial sticker on the bottom - although the original service tag sticker is. Over the moon for the price paid in comparison to what I was looking likely to get for the money from eBay.

Man I am so unlucky. I was trawling on their website for the past two days before I went for the Toshiba core i5 laptop from Laptopsdirect. Couldn't justify the original price but with 30% off absolute steal. All Alienware are gone now.

Bought quite a few desktops over the years for these guys, be prepared for scratch and dent machines ... but they do usually state if they are. Can't say I've had any really bad experience other than a vostro that had its front bashed in ... It was dirt cheap and I stuck a sticker over it .... sorted !

Website was fine when I ordered 16.45. Looks like the traffic from Hotukdeals has caused a bit of a meltdown. I keep an eye out on their website, Dell Outlet (amongst others) when friends ask me for a decent laptop deal. You can add Windows 8.1 Pro COA/OEM recovery pen for £45+vat which is reasonable. My Specification: Dell Alienware 17 i7 4910MQ 2.90GHz 32Gb 2x 1Tb GTX 780M 17.3" FHD 3D 1yr WTY - £847.74 delivered inc VAT isn't bad considering it was £990 + VAT yesterday. Fingers crossed it will be reliable.

Someone where I work swears by them and buys from them a lot and some of the prices look great but he does seem to have to send stuff back a lot which puts me off. They had some great prices on Alienware stuff

Can not there XPS range highly enough. Had one before but went for an upgrade with another brand and always regretted it. The XPS sound system is unreal for a laptop.

I have purchased several of their desktops and laptops over the years. They offer both 'as new' with full Dell warranty and machines they have refurbished. The company is legit, and have been around a few years. I purchased the Alienware 32Gb RAM a couple of hours ago when I realised they were offering 30% off. Please note they have been sellers on Ebay for some time, I think you can search their stock codes. I do agree that some products may have been returned to Dell due to intermittent faults which may take weeks to surface. I paid just over £800 for a high spec system with 1 years warranty (return to base). Some of the latitudes are an excellent price for the build quality.

I told my dad about these before and he bought a laptop last time they had a sale, had nothing but problems with 3 different laptops each with a different problem, we're both pretty savvy with computers in general but the original one we had lasted 3 months before it started beeping on start up, didn't match up with any from the Dell website contacted them because they're suppose to be Dell partner, had no idea and just offered to change it, which is fair enough.. the new one came and it wouldn't charge past 66% or something (including some other problems) so they offered to replace it again, 3rd one DVD Drive wouldn't work and had RAM missing. My dad got annoyed with it in the end and said just send a new DVD drive and RAM (DVD Drive came and RAM but RAM didn't work) still waiting for the new one to get here.

Can't fault them on the customer service side, always replied to emails extremely fast but a company who's suppose to be a partner of Dell and have some knowledge I find it weird they can send out laptops with simple problems that either me or my dad can find in minutes.

Some of these machines are very old models. The whole set up looks dodgy to me.

Ordered a few Dell Venue 11 Pro accessories from them (keyboard, desk dock iirc) so they're legit. Currently £235 for a V11P with an i5 and 8GB of RAM, might be worth the upgrade from my i3/4GB model for a bit more single threaded performance and RAM...
