Curry's have an offer where 8 pack of Duracell Ultra are reduced from £15 to £4. They are also BOGOF so makes 16 for £4.

Only a good deal if you don't have a clue about batteries.
Like it has been posted many a time in other deals, near all alkaline batteries perform the same, so very little difference from the pack of 8 you can buy from Wilko for less than a quid. There is a chart flying around which pretty much proves this.
Seriously guys just go to poundland, they have 8 AA or AAA Kodak Xtralife for £1. Great batteries that last ages and are far better value for money. They also have all other sizes too in £1 packs.

Just picked up 10 sets at £20.
They only had 7 packs of the Ultras in Star Wars packaging, so just got 3 packs of normal to make up the 10. Can't really complain, still a steal.
Thanks OP!

Ordered 3 sets, as did other customers, but store (Aberystwyth) not honouring the BOGOF despite what it says on the order form. Complete waste of time, as it took them over half an hour to find this out for me - very poor customer relations!

Never had any problems with poundland alkaline batteries, whether they be Kodak, polaroid, panasonic or whatever. Avoid the zinc chloride ones except maybe in kids led light type toys, anything with a motor will struggle. Alkaline batteries are essentially pretty much the same. Alkaline batteries are not that suitable for digital cameras though, good rechargeable NiMH have more power so should last longer between charges anyway, or if you want disposable ones go with lithium ones, though they are expensive.

You need some real powerful batts for digital cameras. Lithium if possible for long life otherwise stock a load of rechargeables.

23 Dec 151#47
The crap ones are zinc chloride. The good ones are Alkaline. There's nothing to justify spending twice the price on these over the Poundland Kodak Xtralife Alkaline pack of 8. The Duracell won't last twice as long, they use the same battery technology.
You bought the crap zinc chloride ones, not the Kodak Xtralife Alkaline.
It's unfortunate that when you mention Poundland batteries people can only recall that pack of 16 zinc chloride batteries that lasted 10 seconds and leaked. They clearly don't understand the distinction between those and Alkaline.

Dead on 0900hrs this morning I was there waiting at PCW Worcester, got to Click and Collect area, just two packs per each of my two orders, thought maybe run out.
Looked over loads on the shelf, so asked can they fulfill BOTH my orders please fully!
Picked up 10 packs for £20, will keep me going until next Xmas. Even hit the Happy button near the till, which you rarely are coming out of there! Hahaha

25p per battery is a good price for the Ultra power ones, and anyone mentioning the other cheap brands at B&M or poundland well they are ok for a few months in a remote but are providing a very low voltage within an hour in demanding devices.

Reserved quite a few yesterday morning. Went to collect last night. They never bothered putting them behind a counter (they have a habit of doing this I've noticed, especially for stuff they think they've loads of) and they spent half an hour looking for some. I told them to give up. Also tried to buy a monitor which showed as 7 in stock but they couldn't find any of them either.
Their reserve and stock system is pathetic. Such a waste of time.

Also the Costco Batteries, many reviewers think they are actually rebranded duracell due to the performance and physical design.. at a fraction of the usual cost.

Sacked off currys yesterday after the Liverpool branch didnt honour the deal (more out of incompetence than begrudging me a good deal). After some research I went to Costco and bought 48 Kirkland AA's for around £10.80, which apparently performance the same as the duracells.

Did the reserve and collect and store refused to honour the deal. even tried to tell me they were out of stock even though they had them on the counter at £7.95 buy one get one free. I was told they were different batteries. I pointed out they were exactly the same and showed them the offer on the website and.still refused!!

The kodak xtralife are very good batteries, theres nothing in it really between the duracell posted here and the xtralife. I use them and havent had a single issue, last just as long as duracells I've bought but at a much more reasonable price. I do agree the cheapo zinc crap you can get at the pound shops are terrible but the xtralife are damn good alkaline batteries.
