OK.... Chicken was Romanian, Steaks were Brazilian, "British" and "Irish"... Chicken was good value but with these foreign countries you don't know the facts behind the rearing and slaughter of the animals - no matter what a U.K based "seller" tells you... Therefore I won't be buying again.

Thanks for that - one to avoid for sure! especially if they state IRISH and some are brazilian. Romanian chickens - WTF!
No so good...for £24.95 you get...
Our alternative steak selection contains: 2 x 8oz beef flatiron steaks, 2 x 6-7oz lamb rump steaks, 2 x 8oz rare-breed pork cutlets and 2 x 8oz dry-cure gammon steaks.

Its ironic that some of this "irish" meat is actually shipped to other EU nations, even N. Africa and M. East (while alive) then slaughtered and sold back in UK supermarkets (and others) as Irish meat.
If its not got where its raised, cut and slaughtered (in same place with in a decent period of time) and hopefully that would be dated too you don't know how long it been hanging around, frozen, live or otherwise! What its eaten in that time and what was done to it post slaughter.
Ireland does very little carcass trade (where the meat has been raised and slaughtered in the said country then the carcass frozen and shipped on to other countries for processing or direct sale).
Try not to be misled by meat of a certain country with out all the details. If they are not clearly detailed then its likely, though not for sure that they are not going to make good reading.
If its a deal you cant really compare it to the market with out the details being offered up by other companies. If things are cheap and you want to lowest price then that might make things a better deal for you.

the transportation from north africa after slaughter to ireland, then to the uk might explain the 28 day maturity

Any idea how much this works out as per kg? Currently about £12/kg is supermarkets
chocci to kramer2088
30 Nov 151#45
approx 65ounces so 28g x 65 = 1820g so £13.18 per kg
Take that claim that it is cheaper than supermarkets as false advertising (£10.26 per kg in Aldi and quite often £8 per kg at tesco when on offer)
personally, I would rather buy fresh steak I can check rather than pot luck frozen that I have to wait in all day for the delivery

What a load of crap, suggesting any super market meat would be better is ludicrous. Waitrose, like ALL super market meat, has added water, dextrose, etc. I don't have a butchers near me so I order online. I don't know of this company but I know for a fact the meat that I get is miles ahead of the meat in any super market.

You are what you eat! Different grass or feed etc. Even milk tastes different in different countries as a result of the animal is fed.

Used them for years, top notch meat in my opinion. Mostly been very good and tried most things, steaks, chicken, burgers, sausages all very good. One or two steaks not been great, but mostly top notch - don't buy meat from supermarket anymore. Last Christmas bought the butterfly turkey from there and the gammon which was spot on aswell.
Oh and used musclefood as well - same company - just depends what the offers are on at the time - take the rrp with a pinch of salt...

Not British meat. So not really cheaper then Sainsburys or Waitrose!
No other details on what country this comes from, how its been raised or any stamp of proof on how its been fed/raised.
Only the trimmed beef fillet states UK as source.

29 Nov 15#23
Oh ha! No not really I have a butcher that I go to mostly, just Waitrose do have some good meat that easily available to most people.
Either way, the biggest issue with internet meat is that you never really know what piece you will get, a problem for some not a problem for others. I am sharing an opinion and that's fine thing to do on this website, I did not vote the deal hot not cold b/c its probably down to what you get and how happy you are with that.
Really if you want assurance of the meat you are getting you can do that in a range of places, what you get here cant really come that with that assurance that you have seen it and chosen it.
Buy if you want it, I am not dictating your choice!

Oh that is good! In the link provided only some of the meat clearly stated it from was the Britain so I suspect the other cuts were not. It still is not wholly clear what is and what is not UK produced.

29 Nov 15#19

I reckon it's a doll's house plate!
Does anyone actually eat only 6-7 oz steaks (185g)? Not worth going to the trouble of cooking them.
By the way, as this was posted by a so-called 'MOD', you'd think they could get the weight right in the post heading. Any chance another so-called 'MOD' can correct it?
I haven't eaten the rump but OMG the fillet is amazing.

I doubt it. With no statement of where its come from, where its slaughtered . No info on how long its been frozen, how long between slaughter and processing, no details stamp or seals on antibiotics and hormone used.
It could be nice or flavourless and toxic.
If people think its nice its all subjective I suppose, if you can pick meat, getting it online is no good as you really need to take each bit on its own merit. Marbling, silver etc.
You spend your money and take your chances! If you want a quality assured bit of meat Waitrose is the place to go. If your spending over £70 they have had various money off coupons floating around.
